What Was Your First Mech Mod?

Still haven't made my way to get a mech mod yet. Started vaping about 6 months ago and started with a Evic which isn't bad for my starter. I just recently purchased a VS rDNA 30 and waiting for that in the mail the replace my evic for my ADV and keep the Evic as a backup.

I want to find a mech for home use primarily and am still debating on if I should go with a clone or just spend that clone money and go all out for a Authentic although they are usually pricey.

Any recommendations? A few I've been interested in are Nemesis, Haydes, King, Panzer. Can anyone chime in on any of these or even offer a few other options to look into? Thanks!

What makes it your favorite?
A few things - The aesthetics; how well engineered and built it is; the threads on it are so smooth, nothing rattles, the switch is smooth and it doesn't stick or wobble, and the way you can adjust the 510 connection to contact any atty plus they way you can easily screw the switch on to meet any battery. It is a great design, and it just works.

Is there a major reason why people seem to go with the Caravela in an 18350 as opposed to 18650?
I ended up going with a 4nine clone instead of a Caravela clone, but I almost pulled the trigger on the Caravela 18350 clone instead. The reason is that you can combine it with a shorter RDA or RBA (for example, a Kayfun Lite Nano) and end up with something that easily fits in your pocket. Very stealthy and easy to carry. Plus, the form factor just looks great, IMO.

Basically, this, but with a Caravela instead of a 4nine (not my rig, but a similar rig from the internet):

My first Mech was a "Copper" nemisis, $27 from ebay, clearly made in china. but it got the job done after i had broke in the threads and cleaned it properly, had a harder hit than my friends Private From Grand Vapor(I Believe), so when we would hang he would always use mine instead. still using my Nemi with a Russian 91% - 1.5 OHM 6 wrap "Triple twisted" 32 Gauge wrapped on what i believe to be a 3/32 bit. before this higher OHM coil i was vaping with a .8 OHM coil, same triple wraped 32G, but wrapped around a small eyeglass screwdriver so it was very small, worked wonderful and put out a ton of vape. i decided to use a larger diameter bit to allow more juice flow to the coil and i have to say both worked wonderful.

Batterys - Primarily: 18650 Panasonic NCR (however i dont reccomend these as they can react violently and arent the safest
Secondary: 18650 Sony VTC 3 or 4.. every vaper NEEDS to have these battery's. if you are in the "loop" you already know but for those who haven't heard. buy Sony VTC battery's from a reputable U.S store. if your hearing this for the first time check out this link and read up on as much battery safety as possible. plenty of great information here on ECF

I would post a link to it but i cannot do that yet, so to find the post i would have linked:

Goto: APV Discussion>Batteries and Chargers>Batteries,Changers, and Multimeter Forum Sticky.

this Sticky has plenty of informational links to help learn about safety and others

My first mech, which I just got this month, is a "Fallen Angel," a/k/a the EA Mod clone (Electric Angel) by EHPro. By all accounts I've read, this clone is actually better than the original, and it certainly looks better. And definitely costs less! I got mine for $39.95 from litecigusa.net.

I use it with a smoktech VW Kick, which gives me the ability to set (and vary) wattage, and provides some of the protection of a fuse. I like not having the 10-second cut off that all regulated mods seem to have, but I find that I still prefer my regulated mods for the convenience of being able to check my remaining battery charge, check the resistance of whatever I have on top, and being *easily* able to set my wattage (you have to disassemble the Fallen Angel and adjust the kick with a screwdriver, so not terribly convenient).

My first mech mod was a Chiyou clone. I don't own a authentic mech mod.

I really can't justify spending that much on a authenic battery tube when a clone operates just as well. Call me cheap I guess lol.

I definitely would recommend starting with a clone for a beginner before forking over the cash for an authentic.

I'd go with a clone for sure. My first mod was a nemisis clone and I love it. People say you can hardly tell the difference between the clone and the original aesthetically and almost no difference in performance. Plus you don't have to spend 150+ just to see if you like it or not. Nemisis clone~$25 on eBay as opposed to $250 for the authentic. Happy vaping!
