So I found out about e-cigs like fifteen minutes ago and have decided to make a purchase before the end of the day! I'm currently on week two of not smoking analogs. Quitting smoking isn't my problem. It's a hassle, but I've done it multiple times. The problem is the habitual aspect. I can keep it up for five or six months, but invariably when something comes up in my life that is truly terrible I end up killing a pack of newports the same night. This seems like a good alternative.

At any rate, there's two things I'm looking for. The first is what I see people referring to as "throat kick". I would always switch it up between crush and newports, so something in between moderate and murderous would be good. The second is something that is similar in size and shape to an analog and looks cool. I found out about e-cigs from an ad for "blu". Those things are real slick looking, and the carrying case seems both convenient, and again slick looking. But I assume they're gimmicky and sub-par. Can someone give me advice?

Thanks,
Bill

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance and reliability.

If you want throat hit then you must use a manual PV (personal vaporizer). That makes the process easier because you really have two choices. The few that look closes to the real thing but are still manual (push a button so you can heat the atomzier as long as you want = better throat hit) or the bigger battery devices that give the best throat hit and longest battery life. The bigger battery devices cost more initially but pay for themselves with the inexpensive batteries ($2 instead of $12-$20 for the ones that are smaller/cig looking). The difference in battery life is significant: about 2 hours for the smaller PV's vs 5-7 hours for the larger PV's.

The smaller but well liked PV's are either the Joye 510/Dura-C or the new MANUAL DSE901. Here are several good suppliers:

Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes! : Home
