What would you tell your best friend to buy?

Penstyle. Lots of vapor and more dependable. I think you are less likely to get frustrated with it, as opposed to a 901.

I'm with Zofryer - once you use something with a manual switch, you won't like the regular style batteries. They suck (pun intended).

I would recommend a DSE084 model... 84mm lenght like a real cigarette ...
Maybe it would be better to buy some spare batteries (the weak part of this model)
60-70 usd are enough to start using this model with some spare components ( prices on ebay).
I don't like very much 401 (or 402 403) smoore models... i don't like the atomizer... it makes lot of noise... toooo much vapour... and the taste is not so good... (according to me)

I started with a 510 - the Yeti; from electronicstix dot com. Works great, makes lots of vapor. Jason at electronicstix is great to deal with and ships really quickly. Might email him through his website and ask if he can hook you up with a bulk order.

510 for sure. I started with a 901 also but quickly turned to the 510 with manual batteries. MUCH better in my opinion. more consistent. more vapor. better throat hit. And I've had better luck with consistant quality. A few of the 901s I've bought have been duds. All of the 510s have been great. Maybe just coincidence but that's been my experience.

DSE-801 is my favorite,cheap to buy and easy to get cheap parts also good cartridge and battery capacity,and very good vapor and throat hit.
