Bubba,

Great question! It's one I've been meaning to post myself. For me it was literally a matter of life or death. I used it for smoking cessation but plan to be a lifelong vapor. I started a little over two months ago at 18mg nic am currently at 12mg and plan to work my way to zero nic or as low as I can. Never expected for this to be my new hobby and passion but it has. I was very skeptical about ecigs and vaping but I quit a twenty year habit ( which I loved..I loved smoking never tried to quit once had to stop immediately for medical reasons ) after my very first vape. I've only had two small cravings .. First on a very bad vaping day and second when I got vapor tongue. I love vaping , the vaping community and ECF!!!

I don't plan on stopping vaping. I'm at 2mg and thinking of cutting down to 1mg for regular use and 0mg in some specialty night time mixes I'm working on.

Will I stop sometime, years down the road? Maybe.
Am I planning on it? Nahhh.

Wow Adeline! I had no idea your nic levels were so low. Do you even feel the nic at those levels? I would love to try to get to at least 6mg in six months and hopefully 0-3 in a year. Btw with the last post ( 150th) I became a senior member! Omg I'm such a nerd but that made me happy :)

Like some have said, I do enjoy vaping. Plus I'm off analogs now which is great.

For me, I'd like to get to a point where I don't have to worry about carrying anything with me when I leave the house. I used to check to make sure I had cigarettes, lighter, etc and was constantly worried about making sure I had enough to get me through the day/week. Now I check to make sure that this or that is charged, clearocartotankomizer is full, juice in reserve, spare battery, etc

At some point, I'd like to just be able to leave the house. No worries about this, that, and the other thing.

Like I said, I don't know when that will be, but that's my ultimate goal. For now, I'm enjoying being off analogs and vaping again.

Do you notice a big difference between zero and six? I would like to get there in about six months but I'm not going to put pressure on myself.

not really, when i really really like a flavor, i tend to chain vape it and even at 6 mg i'll get a light headache so i sometimes i get my favorite e-juice at zero.

I'm definitely going in a way different direction than most so far... my fluids are all 36mg/ml and I'd probably go higher if it was as easy to get.

But I don't vape all day - in fact for a few months now (since my wife broke her last one and I had to give mine up) I've just been using a passthrough I rigged from parts I had laying about. It doesn't leave my desk. I usually don't even miss it. But when I sit down in the evening, I get a huge hit.

Something to consider:

If you quit smoking, you might go back to a cigarette. If you quit vaping, you might go back to vaping. Make sure you are smoke free before you try to quit vaping (a year w/o cigs i would consider a minimum). One relapse is better than the other.

Absolutely! For now, I'm just experimenting with different setups, juices, etc and building up my supplies. My primary concern at the moment is making sure I don't go back to smoking. I have vaped before, but that was a couple years ago. I couldn't get supplies fast enough, equipment was mediocre at best so ended up back on cigarettes. Took me a minute (2 years) to get back into vaping so I want to make sure that there's no relapse this time.

Hehe, I went to a vape meet a week ago and was the lowest nic vaper in the room (of 50 or so people)!

I don't know if I "feel" the nic. When I chain vape I can feel my heart speed up a little. But I certainly don't get a nic buzz. I started at 18mg ages and ages ago, stepped to 12 easily, stepped to 6 not-so-easily, and alternated between 12 and 6. Stayed there for a while. Slipped for 3 months, and started back at the 12mg in April 2012. Since then, I think I went down to 6, then 3, then 2. Tried 1mg but it was too soon. And so I've been at 2mg for ... 7-ish months?

All that stepping down felt pretty natural, and I wouldn't feel bad about stepping up if I ever needed to. But I really want to see what it's like to get down to zero.

Recently (last 2 months or so) I'd been extended periods (12 hours give or take) without vaping at all. I notice it for 2-3 minutes after eating and the craving goes away.

I think my addiction at this point is less nicotine, and more habit, hand to mouth, and flavor. I will be testing that theory in the coming months though. :p

All I can tell you is, take it slow and listen to your body. It can come naturally, if you want.

But getting down to lower nic usually means you're sacrificing TH, or finding creative ways to add TH to your DIY mixes. :) My current flavor (death by berries - blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry) packs one HECK of a TH, it's either the fruit itself or the touch of menthol. :p

You want to make your experience so good that smoking pales, but you also need to vape consistently to make it a habit. If you want help on a setup and you have a budget in mind, let me know.

I have no desire to quit vaping, I'm still pretty new to all of this but I never expected to be able to quit smoking. I always really enjoyed smoking, and I am so happy that the transition to vaping was painless or else I probably wouldn't of stuck with it. As long as I stay off the smokes I'm happy. If I can reduce my nicotine intake that's a bonous.
