mech mods aren’t for everyone

sounds like you weren’t meant for them
So far as I can tell they no longer have any advantages other than size, and several disadvantages. One of which is potentially deadly. The weirdest thing is people pay so fanged much for them. They’re nothing but a metal tube with some vent holes in it and a button they SHOULD be cheap. Like less expensive than the battery they’re designed to carry cheap. But they can sell for hundreds. It’s totally perplexing.

OTOH, if one has an insufficient supply of regulated mods and all their electronics fail...

I do have a few decent mechs in the box, just for that extreme case. With a few kicks, and a few fuses as well. Just in case.

And hope I never need them :)

Yeah, I like regulated.

Got one just like the second from the right on the top there. I don’t use it any more. I keep it around as an example of what not to buy.
Well they used to anyway. I don’t see much reason for them any more. Size is the only place they still have anything. It used to be you could make a hotter DL Vape with then, but that hasn’t been true for many years. They also used to be less dangerous.

a lot of things SHOULD be cheaper than they are............ but they aren't...... and as most see it, prices for EVERYTHING will continue to rise

many things in LIFE are "potentially" deadly............ arguably many of those things are MORE deadly than a mech mod

No it’s not. Discrimination problems are about disliking someone or something based on something other than behavior. This is based on behavior. Like why most people don’t like nazis. There was an argument made that the people who thought it was ok to be as violent as they are was not ok had some merit. The problem was though they attempted to extend that. It lost all value.

They had exploding and killing people problems after new more powerful chemistries came out though.

LOL......... the way you wrote that makes it sound as though it was common occurrence. It wasn't.

Here are some actual FACTS................

Two people died as a result of mech mod explosions (one in 2018, the other in 2019). IIRC, the likely causes were User Error.

Two deaths in two years <--------> how many vapers are there in the World???

Battery explosions and deaths from vaping mech mods, or any other mod, are extremely RARE.

FWIW.......

"About 200 people die each year from lighter injuries, according to CPSC figures."

above quote from a fairly old WaPo article:

Generally speaking.... user error causes battery problems - - - as in your battery issue you recently posted about in the following thread.

And specifically this post of yours:
Yeah, it was dumb. My fault. The things had already been Re wrapped once and were due for a second. Shouldn’t have used em that long.
It sounds like you had a battery wrap that had a tear and you failed to look at it before placing it in your charger.

Vaping safety is the responsibility of each user. Careless users are the causes of problems.

FWIW, there are many seasoned vets on the ECF, and elsewhere, who use batteries that are several/many years old - - - Without Problems.

As to your claim: "after new more powerful chemistries came out" - - - care to expound on that???

Please post links to sources with factual data. I would be very interested in reading those.

ETA: Links to actual sources, not your opinions. Thank you!!!

What is completely hilarious - - - is that you totally FAILED to see the humor in my post. It went right over your head.

Since you made a feeble attempt to school me - - - I will EDUCATE you, because you certainly are in need - - - go read about discrimination against products. You might actually learn something.

Good luck!!!

That's a totally baseless statement.

Care to expound on it???
Well you (or someone) already said that it was so your claim is ridiculous, but I will expound.:
Back in the day there was a certain kind of battery (which is no longer made) that Diddnt explode. It just turned to hot black goo. Was some time in the aughts. Like 2008 or non or something I think. Not sure. They were red. I’ve still got a 123 of that type in my “I really need to take this to the recyclers”box. Those were ok even after batteries started developing so much raw energy that amech cases could no longer contain them (which was the even older method. Sort of like those bomb squad boxes) when those batteries stopped being made li-ion batteries were already too powerful for mech mods. Those batteries just extended their life.

Me failing to see the joke is common. Even irl. Sarchasm works poorly in writing. So poorly that the conventions of coloring sarcastic comments green or adding a “/sar” at the end is often needed. This is why metatrolling is a thing. People will make sarcastic comments without saying they are sarcastic and then watch people try to “educate” them. I don’t ever do it myself, but I’ve heard about it. I often don’t even catch it IRL though. I also miss a lot of double entendres because just about everything is a double entendre so I automatically dispose of those alternate meanings.

Inflation is a thing, but it applies to batteries too.

Yes. There are a lot of things more deadly than a mech mod, such as cigarettes. but even more things less deadly. I minimize it when I can, so I don’t use them any more. If rechargable batteries were just as inert as they were many years ago there would be little need for regulated mods. They’re bigger and more complicated.

the eight ECF members who reacted to my post with "ha ha" should have given you a CLUE to the intent of my post, the fact that you are the only person who DIDN'T "get it" is, ummm, rather telling....... Si???

there was NO ambiguity in my post....... NONE whatsoever

perhaps people should post "THIS POST IS MEANT AS FREAKIN' JOKE"............ nah, that ain't gonna happen

I want actual sources with factual data.

If you fail produce any, then that pretty much speaks for itself.
How ‘bout newspaper (real ones, not Murdoch garbage. He invented the weekly world news btw, and everything he owns is about as truthful. Including fox) articles?

As for the “speaking for itself” no it doesen’t at least not the way you seem to think it does. What you did was “go out and do work to prove me wrong, and if you don’t I win” it could also be that you aren’t worth lifting a finger for. That’s the “speaks for itself” that comes to me. In that spirit I will make you go look for them. I assure you they are there. All the deaths or mailings with e-cigs excepting the oil thing the tobacco companies arranged (they own most of the cannabis farms in the US btw) we’re from mech mods and new users with only one exception I know of which was a provari, which is a device so old it doesn’t have holes to vent the battery. He used to post here was one of the provarotti and a pro photographer. He’d left his mod like ten feet away and when it blew a piece of shrapnel cut his throat and he bled to death (which is actually a much kinder death than most of the people who die. They generally involve fire). There were several of those.

The problem is that if the vents in both the battery and the mod don’t work as intended a mech mod is an incindiary hand grenade.

tobacco companies [...] (they own most of the cannabis farms in the US btw)

I don't know where you dug that up from, or more importantly what it has to do with anything, but it's not at all accurate. In fact it is 100% inaccurate. LOLz

Big Tobacco doesn't own any of the 5 largest marijuana companies in the world. I just looked up each ones owners and largest shareholders.

And I don't see where big tobacco owns the remaining 21 biggest marijuana companies.

Google search: who owns the cannabis farms in the us - - - that does not show big tobacco owning any.

What Big Tobacco and Pharma have done is invested in a few cannabis companies.

That is a Far Cry from your claim that "they own most of the cannabis farms in the US".

If you are going to make such claims then back them up with reputable and factual sourced data and links. I mean, come on, how hard is that to do? It isn't.

Each of the links I provided you with contain reliable, trustworthy and factual data. All are properly sourced. None are from whacked out sources like QAnon or the far-right who have clearly demonstrated they spread nothing but lies and misinformation. None of their news (FOX, NewsMax, OANN and their ilk) is trustworthy. But ~30% of brainwashed Americans believe and fill their imbecilic brains with their utter nonsense.

ETA: One more source for you........
