Mister Madness! A friend sent me an email regarding the filler and the information can be very helpful.

I have also tried a couple of cart mods. (See attached file)

For the last month or so I have tried almost any kind of fill, foam, straw and small silicone disc.

The foam is the best, nice taste, almost better than dripping.

But if it is cut too small the cart leeks, and if it is too big it doesn’t give enough liquid and the cart taste bad.

Now I have found some sheds of aquarium foam 20mm thick, from Aquatic products

I´ve found it here in DenmarkJ

I cut a round “cork” 12-13mm in diameter, in that way they are always the same.

If the cart leeks, I cut it 14mm.

The only drawback is, when the foam gets 2 -3 days old it softens due to soaking PG liquid.

When the foam is soft, it release to much liquid and the atty will flood. If that happens I use 14mm.

The other mod I came upon, because my cart always “bubbles” due to condensation.

Several times a day, I had to take it apart and clean the trap, the end piece and the inside.

The mod is simple, remove the trap and drill up the end piece to 5mm or mill a piece of delrin to fit inside the cart.

A 7mm piece of 8mm nylon tube can do the job, but you have to remove the sharp edges.

Now the cart doesn´t condensate much, and if it does occasionally you can blow it out in a piece of tissue.

I'm no where near giving up on the carts :) I've got a large enough foam block now to work with, haven't tried it yet but the foam is well rinsed and rid of the foam taste at this point (some boiling involved in that process).

The 801 has what I like about the 901, flavor and dense smooth fog, only more so! Also my particular 801 atty seems to be of lower resistance than my particular 901 atty. So maybe that's why its "more so" :)

The 510 is good too, but its of a different character, less smooth, more harsh.

LOL!!!
Totally agree! The 510 is and always has been more of an "actual feel" device more so than flavor. I been personally using the 510 3.5Ω on 6V for that extra little boost of flavor. The actual feel is very much there and since I'm practically out of liquids on a personal level, I don't mind the 510 because what liquids are here don't taste that great! LOL

Thnx for the info! I've been looking for posts about foam filling an 801 and found some encouraging ones, but nothing with actual millimeter dimensions. I picked up a new foam block for the 801 since the marine land rite size "U" sheets are too thin. Its a Hagen product like the one your friend linked to. Looks like the same black foam material, but what I got is shaped differently... not that it matters since I'm cutting it up to fit.

somewhere out there......
At home my main devices are the Super-6 at 14500, 3.7v or GG at 16340, 3.7v. On the go I use either my ego or my original (1st) 510 battery that is a year old now and is ready to have a proper burial soon. Lately, its been a toss up between atties... but as of this week I've been using the 510 cartomizers with menthol, red bull, and blue berry eliquid between 6mg and 12mg. But the menthol at 6mg is my main vape and it taste like pure heaven in a 510 carto. I have used cartimizers before and didn't have much luck with them but these 510 cartos are working great. There the ones with the soft rubber plug... just awesome. I have other mods and do use them on occasion but my super 6 and GG are my go to devices.
