As much as we all smoked we have a pretty big budgets to deal with what we need to get started. I will break even in one month. Plus cancer is expensive.
Depends on your point of view. From a health perspective, I broke even the minute I started. From a money perspective, I will break even in about five weeks.

My guess is a bit over 2 months(if I could stop the annis totaly). Probably spent $50.00/wk(1.5 cartons) on analogues, cheaper annis when bought from a Native Reserve.
Spent about $500.00 getting setup with PVs but have about 350ml of juice. Not quite sure how many mls per day I use but if 2-3 then I'm good for 3-6 months.

You break even when the experimentation phase ends, you've learned how to get the best performance from parts, and you're stocked up. For some the experimentation never ends (because it's fun!), for me- 3 months.

Plus loss of work.
If strictly comparing to analog sales I'll break even in a month. If not, I've saved money by only buying 1 cup of coffee a day instead of 5. I would always have to drink coffee while smoking. So imagine, I spend about 2 dollars on coffee from dunkin donuts near my job each time I wanted coffee. I also don't drink much coffee at home anymore so I'm saving money buying milk all the time as well. A quart of milk can now last me 4 days instead of just 2.
It does add up in other aspects when you're not looking at it from strictly analog purchases.

Technically, you'll never break even. You can only save money in comparison. As long as you spend money, you're not even.
The way I look at it is, I'll break even when I'm 6ft. under.
So enjoy it while you can.
Many different ways to break even...many different outlooks. But from a financial point of view, I will break even in 16 days (from today) if I dont buy anything else. Here in canada, a pack of 25 analogs is $10.50-$11.00 for "economy" brands, and over $12 for brand name cigs.
To date, I have spent $695 (CAD) on hardware and juice, in just a month to get myself (and my fiance) set-up. Normally that kind of hit to my monthly budget would be tough...but the $15 that I (we) save everyday easily offsets the e-cig expenses. My 12 month forecast...saving $5199.86 compared to analogs!8-o

I buy all my ecig stuff with my credit card in case I have to dispute something so immediately noticed an increase in my bank account. I was buying a carton every 4 days. I've been vaping for 5 weeks now and figure I've saved over $300.00. I plan on sending my cc company the money I was spending on analogs every week till I pay it off. Works for me!
I've refused totaling my purchases until this. I can not resist an intricate Excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately I now know that I've spent at least $600.00 - that doesn't include little extras, like a case to carry my supplies in, syringes, stickers for labeling refilled cartridges, and I didn't include any shipping costs yet. BUT - I'm going to save over $2,000.00 a year.....so, it's OK - right?
After spending $152 on two 801 kits, parts, carts and juice (PG and utensils already in house) I figure we will break even and start realizing savings before our first 50 ml of juice is vaped. This is considering only the cost of my wife's cigarettes and disregarding the few bucks I spend on cigars that I don't already have stored away in humidors.

Right now, I am about a year in the hole and still searching for "the ONE!"
While searching can become obsessive and expensive... it may not be better on my pocketbook, but it has to be better for my health. (I hope!) lol
Anyway, I hope to find one, perhaps two favorites then stock up for the long haul.

I dont think there is such a thing as "The ONE."
Until the technology catches up to "Consumer Expectations" as far as ease of use, reliability, and longevity....there is no "The ONE."The SD and the GG both sound awesome, but I want a PV that still mimics the look and feel of a real analog. So it might be "The ONE" for some people and not for others.
