I'm curious to know other people's experience. When you first started vaping, did you use the same setup for a long time or still do? Did you upgrade shortly after to better equipment?

Same with juices. Are the first few juices you bought still being used all the time as one of your favorites or did you have to go through tons of samples like I did to find some you really enjoy?

Its been pretty much linear upgrading for me, over a handful of months. I can't seem to settle on a good delivery device either (as far as carto, clearo, tank, etc) so there is pretty quick changeover there. I was on mostly eGo batteries but then finally made the step up.

My juices, some are regulars but its mostly experimental too. Though with this A+ Blue Grass Burley I'm in heaven, so I think this one is to be a go-to for awhile.

My vaping experience:

It was late July, and one of my coworkers ordered a kit for me. It was a 1000 mAH fixed eGo-T battery, with a clearo. Man oh man, it was awesome. For some reason it just gelled. It had to be a combination of me wanting to truly quit smoking, but having a working alternative. Originally I intended vaping to be a cessation tool, but I quickly (VERY quickly) realized it was more of a hobby. It totally became a hobby.

My serious delving into vaping came when my first clearo crapped out on me. Like any new vaper, I chain vaped constantly (hah, I still do!). Of course, clearos just can't handle that. I became very discouraged when my first clearo crapped out on me. I ran to my mentor, and he gave me some atomizers. It was this time I refined my dripping skills. But eventually I become irritated with dripping, because it was hard for me to do it while driving (when I loved my cigarette the best), and it was messy, messy, messy.

It was at this point that I became so discouraged I was ready to go back to clearos, and if those wouldn't work, real cigs. And then, badang, along came the carto tank.

It kept me in the game. I am still proud that I've not smoked a real cig in almost 4 months.

POSTSCRIPT: I remember that short-lived phase where I told everyone low-res dripping was where it was at. Boy, was I wrong! So many other options out there...

I started with the v2, and quickly upgraded to the Twist and a couple different clearomizers, and a cartomizer. I've thought on a ZMax, Lambo, and a couple other devises. Instead of getting either of these, I decided to just save up for a Provari, since that's what I'd eventually wind up with anyway.

I think the general consensus so far is that everyone started with lower end equipment at first and upgraded fairly quick after learning a bit more about vaping. Wouldn't it have been nice if someone told you first starting out to just buy a Provari or another good mod, screw the cartridges and recommended some top ejuice vendors to try first! What about juices, did anyone start off with a juice that they still really like to this day or do they pale in comparison to the juices you have tried after shopping around a bit?

Started with a cig-a-like to try it out.

Same evening that I received it, I ordered a Silver Bullet and some attys.

Since then I have moved along and vape almost solely on RBAs, however I still do drip in an atty once in a while. To me, dripping is the perfect vape. However, as others have stated, it's too much of a hassle to do regularly.

similar story, started mostly with the idea that it would be fun to mess with the anti-smokers. Thought itd be fun watching them walk towards me and start the "gagging and coughing" even at the end of a long parking lot. THey would get closer and realize that it wasnt a real cigarette and kinda look dumbfounded. I liked it then and instantly quit smoking. Got fed up with the constant charging with the cig-alikes found this site and it changed my world. Got a lot of great advise and bought a KGO 3.7 1100 mah.

It still didnt keep up with my chain vaping. Started with basic boges, discovered carto/ tanks. Love it. Bogegate hit and looked to alternatives; dripping atomizers, not for me, could keep up and the same with the driving thing. Got a Vivi Nova, great but it had some handicaps, I had to be careful of its upright position etc, tiny area for the rebuild. Tried the Phoenix RA, great taste etc, again limited juice amount , it didnt keep up. Kept using cartos/tanks. I kept looking for something like the VN but better made, less handicaps.

I did a lot of studying on for a new PV that lasted longer between charges and was safe etc, decided on my Saber Touch. Love it, best money Id spent. Still the juice delivery was something tugging at me, Did a lot of research, tried my friends devices, Tried genesis types, high end, low end. Was not impressed and too warm, changed my favourite juices too much.

One day I tried out and Odysseus, feel in love so similar to the Vivi Nova in taste and performance but built to last a life time. Never thought Id afford it. Things feel into place made some money selling on classies, sold my first photo and the same day I found one in the classifieds. All worked my way and I got something special. Ive found my perfect set up. Really, the Vivi when modded correctly is just as good, but with out the little handicaps. I love my Kgo and my carto tanks, will always love my boges in a tank. But the Ody has finally taken its first place as my all day workhorse.

I'm still using what I started with over 2 years ago. Standard Ego's. I switched to cartos from atomizers after about 6 months. I tried a couple of Rough Stacks and a couple of Bolts, but for some reason their performance seems to deteriorate after a while, and so, they are no longer in service. As for juices, it took nearly 8 months of sampling different vendors and flavors to find a few I could settle in with.

I also started with a Blu, but it was a free disposable promotional unit. I used it for a day and then bought their PCC pack. Used that for a day or two and found Madvapes. Went crazy after that. Now have several twists, a spinner, a VV Gripper and a Zmax. I never want to run out of options. Also, I tried butterscotch and loved it. That is my go to flavor, no matter the vendor.

Hum,
Well I'll have to say that the people new to vaping and ecigs have a whole lot more choices then I ever did when I started. It was a 300 buck Blu or nothing at all, kept on ash'in due to that for a while.
Market trend and diversity didn't really start taking a foot hold until about 7 months ago, that's when you had VV mods, Mechanical, Box and various type of tank mods ( eGo t-tank...ect).
I swaped up to a eGo T-Tank after doing some research, same with E-juices ( can't vape JC juices because well, thats all I had for a while). The market was wide open and bought the LT, I had already been experimenting with LR atomizers on my eGo so was the next step up.
My final step up is to a VV/VW mod and Rebuild able atomizer, which I love for flavor and hit.

I started with a penlike 808, cartos, and was with that for quite a while. But the constant recharging got to me. I was fortunate I was gifted with riva 901 and different cartos (Ikenvape) adapters. Ahh something better for sure. But did work my way up to 510 stuff (got tired of adapters getting stuck in the stardust, vision, etc) and have a 2 twists (different mah) and a spinner, a mini is on it's way. Have 3ml phoenix bc since they held more liquid, and discovers kanger t2. finally a tc that doesn't mute flavor for me. Liquids, tried many, but lucky I found my go to early on. That was 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

I researched for weeks. Read and read this forum. Watched videos on vaping. Started with eGoC kit and 2 extra Twists. About a month later, I got really tired of filling the cartridges that came with my kit and heard great things about the newest version of the Vision Vivi Nova. Did more research and learned that I needed to make sure I got the genuine Vivi. Started with 1 to try out, I now have 5 of the larger ones and 3 of the mini's. So about a month in, I found the delivery system that works for me.

Juice.....I did what was suggested and got samples from several vendors, four I do believe. They were ok at best. Remember at the time I was still using the cartridge system. I was invited to check out Heather's Heavenly Vapes e-liquid thread. So I wandered over to that thread. I had just gotten the Vivi in the mail and realized that the juices I had, really kinda sucked now that I could taste them.

I got involved with asking questions about this flavor and that flavor. They asked what flavors I had liked out of the samples that I had tried. It all lead to what I love today. I'm a fruit for now. Who knows, that may change as time goes on. I do plan on branching out with other types of flavors, as samples, to see if I might like some of Heather's other creations. I have found my vendor of choice.

I am trying another vendor for a backup. Just in case anything should happen. I think backups are needed in every aspect of vaping!!

It took me a month to get everything to come together. I still use the eGo's that I started with, added the Nova's and have figured out the juices. I now have the juice ordering times down, with steeping times figured into the equation. I think I did fairly well by doing a lot of research and lucking into a great bunch of people early on. I'm in a happy place now. I don't 'need' anything else right now, but I am strongly hinting to Hubby about a Provari for Christmas. Do I need one? No. Would I like one? Yeah.

That's my story.

I started with the first NJoy back in 08. It did not work well and the cartos were super expensive - more expensive than smoking. I tried ordering juices for refills from china - but i never could afford to order enough at one time to make it worth while. I would run out - smoke for a while until the new stuff came in - over and over again. e cigs were pretty new then and diy supplies were hard to come by so I just gave up vaping.

I started back this past july with a kgo battery and standard cartos that came with the set. I moved up to vivi novas about a week later and have been using this set up ever since. I started diy about a month ago.

today however I am using good old kr808d batteries and pre-filled cartos. "step down?" you say! Not at all. anything that improves your experience is a step in the right direction. The little guys are convenient to a fault. You can stick them in a pocket (womens jeans often have rediculously small pockets), drive with them in your hand - hold them in your mouth hands free for a time, look elegant and keep them in plain sight without a lot of questions asked (I am the only smoker/vaper where I work).

I still have the other stuff too - and I will use them again when I decide there is some reason to do so.

I was gifted two 650 mA batts (one was a passthrough), three cartos, an eGo charger and a usb charger. From there, I bought five additional batt- three 650mA and two 900mA. In the meantime was using Boge 510s..discovered Kanger Horizontal coils and have been using them ever since. I just purchased two 1000ma eGo Twists last month. This next month is going to be fun, fun, fun because I plan to get an iTaste MVP, a Volt kit (because I have always lusted after one, lol), and a glass carto tank.
Right now at this stage I feel comfortable with the non-changeble batts (like in the eGo and MVP). By the time those are toast I will be comfortable with batts that are charged separately form the unit, right now I'm skeered of them, haha
