When you replace the coil unit in a Kanger Protank, should you prime the new wick?

I always put a few drops right on the wick ends sticking out
then clean up mess / fill tank up etc..

then assemble and allow to sit a few minutes, then some dead pulls before fire button

lol seems funny writing it out , cuz it only takes a minute
kinda like instructions on "Replacing a light bulb" (longer to read than do) :)

Another thing to consider... Did you put the newly wrapped coil on the battery and light it up before re-assembling everything? A hot leg on the coil will make it taste burnt too. It's easy to check when it's wet. Just take the top off of the coil head while it's on the battery and fire it up. If anything glows while it's wet with juice, that's the cause of the burnt taste.

Depends on how bad it is. If it's not too bad, it might go away on it's own. If it's a silica wick, you can always rinse, dry burn a few times and then rinse it again to get rid of any burnt crud.

It's just the wick that comes with the replacement Kanger Evod coil units... is that silica?

It usually self-primes with a little sit time, but I like to take a few dry pulls to get the vacuum going.

The burnt taste won't linger, there's nothing to permanently burn in there (around the coil), you just got some dry wick/coil taste. If you got a rubber taste that's a slightly different story, but I would say just rock it and it'll probably be fine.

When I'm loading up a fresh protank, or changing the head, I put a few drops of juice in the wick area.
After filling and assembly, I'll take a few large drags on the mouthpiece to prime the wick without firing the device.
Once I can start to taste the juice, I'll fire in short bursts to make sure it's vaping.
You can also let it sit and soak a while, but I never have the patience.
