Where should I get Kanthal/Nichrome for protank and Ohm meter?

Can someone please tell where is a good place to order wire?

Which one should I use Knathal or Nichrome, and what gauge 32?

This is for a Knager protank

Also where can I get an inexpensive 510 ohm reader.


Sorry I sound like such a noob . Im going to order some hemp twine and figured I might as well get everything I need at once.


I did find an ohm meter and madvapes but it is a bit more than I wanted to spend and is out of stock.

I know there are some threads regarding some of these questions but I could not find exactly what I need.

With regard to the Kanthal wire, I purchased a 100 ft. roll of 30g Kanthal A-1 on eBay for less than $5.00.

That is the same place where I purchased mine, but via eBay. What are you using it on? I am using mine on an AGA T2 rba. I plan to oxidize my wire prior to making the coil.

temco pretty much corners the market on ebay but that's not a bad price for 100ft.

you're looking at about $20 for a 510 ohm reader no matter where you go. As far as I can determine that's as cheap as they get. I got mine from smoktek.com

That may or may not require a thinner wire. Have you ventured over to the Clearomizer sub forum? I am quite sure that is a discussion on rebuilding protank heads there.

Kanthal seems to work better for me; sometimes I can detect a slight metal taste to nichrome wire, but that's just me. Kanthal A-1 does have a higher working temp, though...

I've used both, kanthal tasted cleaner to me and there isn't much of price difference.

32g should be fine if you're going for around 2ohms

34g if you want 3-4.

depends on what device you're planning to use them on. I have 32g out for delivery atm actually. I redo my own vivi nova heads and i have two protanks +10 extra heads pending in a co-op so i can rebuild them too

you can also go to wally world or someplace like that and in the electric section and/or automotive section, pick up a multi-meter. Make sure it's digital and has the ability to read low ohms. Mine is made by innova, and has 200 as the lowest setting which reads perfectly. The leads, when touched together read 00.2 ohms so all I do is subtract that from my carto readings. (If I get a reading of 2.7 ohms, that means it's really at 2.5.)

In dealing with the less expensive ohm readers, I've often found slight variances so I prefer to use one with exposed leads anyway so I can check.
