Where to start?!?

I know NOTHING about vaping other than that I want to quit cigarettes once and for all and enjoyed puffing off my friend's Logic ecig. It was a satisfying smoke, it sizzled a little bit, and had a blue glow at the end, all elements that I think my subconscious liked.

So given that I liked the Logic ecig, is that the right product for me or should I be entirely rethinking this thing? She had the menthol flavor, and I sort of liked that because I've been smoking clove cigarettes for a while now, which have a distinct flavor to them. I used to smoke regular cigarettes for years, but quit for years before starting up again with cloves. Since I simply don't like the flavor of regular cigarettes.

ANY help or direction would be much appreciated. I'm doing some extensive traveling in August and September and really want to have my vape set up and rolling by then.

Thanks people.

Welcome! Congrats on wanting to get off the analogs(cigs)! I can only be of encouragement as these members are far more educated on the matter than I am. I started on a Vision Spinner kit which had everything I needed including charger, juice, batteries, and cartos for filling. I have since moved on from that, but it was that device that got me off the smokes. I was a pack to pack and a half a day smoker. Haven't touched them since picking up my devices.

Stick around and keep digging for info!

Again congrats!!

There is a list of brick and mortar shops in your state. GO to one or two, sample flavors, and try out equipment. Maybe you like things other than the Logic.

If no shop is close enough for you to go to, I'd recommend getting an ego with non rebuildable clearomizers to start on. They are easy to use and fill and, not expensive and, offer a decent vape for starters. Later you may find you enjoy it enough to move up to mods, but start with something that does better than a cigalike and is still very easy and relatively inexpensive to use.

Pretty bad site talking mostly about underwhelming, expensive, crappy e cigs you got there! I cannot recommend your site to anybody as there is a lot of WAY better source of information than what I suspect to be advertisement in disguise. I don't think that your weak attempt to misguide new members will fly around here buddy. Shame on you!

Welcome to ECF! This is a *great* forum! I've learned so much, and everyone is very helpful. Also, good for you for wanting to quit smoking! Cheers!

As somewhat of a beginner myself, I suggest a good 650 mah or 1100mah eGo battery with CE-4's, OR an EVOD. (and of course, good juice.)

eGo Battery: Engraved eGo K 650mAh Battery
CE-4 Clearomizer: Bauway LR CE4 Clearomizer
EVOD starter kit: Kanger EVOD Starter Kit with BBC(Bottom Coil Changeable) Clearomizer [04-G-43] - $42.00 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail

Juice (this is just one of MANY places to get juice, but my experience is they have good juice!) https://www.mtbakervapor.com/

'starter kits' have everything you need to start out ~ battery, clearomizer (i.e., CE-4 if that's the type you choose), wall charger, and USB charger, etc. Just not juice.

Do some research, look around, and stick close to ECF. Oohhhh.... AND Happy Vaping :vapor:

A very frequent question as you might suspect. The common saying on the Forum is that the more the device looks like a cigarette, the worse it will perform. Found this to be true personally. Generally, the recommended starter kit is the ego or stick batteries. Here's my take on these (YMMV):

Stick Batteries, known as eGo Style Batteries (entry level, backup, out and about, stealth, primary):

Trusted Vendors shown, but NOT selected based on pricing, you'll still need to shop around. You will need device specific battery chargers (which often come in kits) for these devices. Also, kits often provide two batteries allowing for simultaneous vaping while charging of the backup. Each of the eGo style batteries below have both 510 and eGo thread connections. As such, they are compatible with most toppers, including most Kanger products. Additionally, each of these devices has at least variable voltage, which allows you to adjust and regulate the battery output voltage, providing customizable vapor production, temperature, throat hit, and finding the "sweet spot" for your juices to suit your individual vaping preferences:

1. Innokin iTaste 3.0 vv/vw, usb passthrough, ohms reader, etc. - https://ivape.net/index.php/iTaste-VV-3.0-Variable-Wattage-Device-Pearl-Chrome.html (variable power, LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.3 - 5.0 volts, 6.0 - 11.0 watts, 800mAh)
2. SLB KGO VV - http://www.hoosierecig.com/Mega-KGO-VV-1200mAh-3-6v-_p_441.html (LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.0 - 6.0 volts, 650 - 1200mAh)
3. Vision Spinner - Vision Spinner VV eGo Battery 1300mAh (3.3 - 4.8 volts, 1300mAh)
4. Joyetech Twist - eGo Twist 1000 Mah Battery in Black (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 650 - 1000mAh)
5. Smoktech Winder - Smok eGo Winder 900mAh Variable Volt Battery (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 900 - 1100mAh)

Best Starter Combo kit out there, imho, provides two batteries, i.e., the twist and/or spinner, and two toppers, i.e., the eVod and/or MT3s, among others: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm.

Recommend two EVOD toppers with one Spinner and one Twist to start. This way you get three different products with the kit and allowing you to experience four different setups, as you figure out your preferences and what works best for you. You will need replacement heads for the EVOD's or whatever topper(s) you select, say five to start. BTW, you can spend less and get a fixed voltage battery, but you'll have much less vape flexibility and it won't be long before you'll want to upgrade to variable voltage, more than likely, and the difference initially is only a few dollars per battery anyway.

If I had to do it all over again, I would most certainly buy two iTaste 3.0's with two EVOD's. The iTaste's are stick batt sized (smaller than a twist) with the power of an Vamo. You will never outgrow these devices, though, they will, in time, become backups and out and about devices, more than likely. I have many friends who have thanked me for going this way, because they did not have to upgrade after two weeks, with the lesser equipment. You can also go hog wild and spend way more, but I don't recommend that initially. Find out what you like and then grow with your VapeQuest. Best to you!

I agree 100% with billbeckusa when he told you that the more an e cig looks like a cigarette, the worst it actually is... Although the NJoy King might be an exception (super expensive though).

But if what you want is what we call here a cig-a-like, there are some options out there.

-The Joyetech E-Roll is a pretty popular premium cig-a-like

-The Bloog as well

-The Volt is another one.

I would recommend staying away from all the crap that you'll find in 7-11's, Walgreens, Gas stations etc...: Blu, V2, Greensmoke, Logic, Finiti, eon smoke and so on. They are all underwhelming and super expensive.

But again, as the saying goes: If it looks like a cigarette, you're doing it wrong.

A Evod bcc or a Kanger Protank on a ego twist is my recommended way to go.

Very well put!! I just started vaping a little over a month ago and started with 2 1000 mAh E-Go C Twists and 2 Vision Vivi Nova 3.5 tanks, then I got a 1300 mAh Spinner and discovered bottom coil tanks. I fell in love with the iSmoka's (or Vapeonly) and now have several 1.6 and 3.5 tanks. I just received my Innokin iTaste VV V3 in the mail yesterday. Found it for $39. I am totally happy that I bought it! I am already ready to retire the Twists (and maybe the Spnner too.. eh, probably not). I have 2 Kanger ProTank 2's on pre-order too. Someone needs to cut up my credit card!! Anyway, the point of all this is that I guess we all find out what works for us little by little and you just have to start somewhere. I, myself, am not ready for an overly complicated or overly expensive APV yet, but I am in love w/ the iTaste VVV3 for sure. That's my recommendation :)

Thanks for seconding the iTaste 3.0. I just wanted to say that IVape has these iTaste 3.0's at a good price. Received three from them so far:

https://ivape.net/index.php/iTaste-VV-3.0-Variable-Wattage-Device-Pearl-Chrome.html

Retail: $59.95
Listed: $49.95
Discounted: $34.95. Use Coupon Code "itastevv."

This is an outstanding deal, imho, check around. Great service and delivery. Again, highly recommended for that pocket, out and about niche that we all have. Fasttech also has the express kit in white for $24.95 (and a two week wait):

$24.80 iTaste VV Voltage Adjustable 800mAh Rechargeable Battery - two digit display / with USB charging cable at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

This is not much more than the cost of a Twist or Spinner and does include the retractable usb charging cable. Ohm meter, 800 mAh (the equivalent of an 18350 batt) internal battery, +/- buttons, variable voltage AND variable wattage, ego and 510 threading, smaller than a Twist, usb charge from wall, computer, usb charger, etc., square (so it won't roll off the table top), LED Display, even a puff counter (I know, rarely used, and my only complaint is that it does come up first on the display), and comes in white, black, silver and chameleon (black with purple and green flecks). What's not to like? Completely replaced my other stick batts, as powerful as a Vamo in 18350 mode, there's just nothing not to like, and I'm quite surprised Innokin can squeeze so much into so small a package. Anyway, my two cents.

34.95! I may have to go order another! I got the Chameleon. It's really cool. Yeah, I'm at 687 on the puff counter & I just got it yesterday! Lol. The counter is a little aggravating, but what an awesome battery for the $ for sure.

I started with an ego battery and kanger t2. It was fine, but the t2 doesn't want to work as well when the liquid level drops since the coil is on the top and the juice has to wick up. I didn't like the t3 or the protank due to the airy draw. I know tons of people love them, but I have enjoyed a regular cartomizer or cartotank more due to better vape production. Especially with a low resistance carto and a mod battery.

I was on vacation and put the ego batt and t2 in my pocket, and due to the leverage from the clearomizer on to the battery, it caused the ego battery top to separate from the tube and the wires broke. I went into the smoke shop and they recommended a bolt battery mod setup. It is much more robust. However its more of an investment since you need separate batteries and a charger. However I'm happy with it. Longer lasting and more vape production.

Welcome and congrats on deciding to quit cigarettes. You are right that this forum can be a bit overwhelming. But as you learn more about vaping and have specific questions, there is no better group of people that can provide you the answers you seek.

I found the "Leaning Center" tab at Discountvapers site to be an especially effective primer. Do you have any local stores in your area? They would be great resources, as well.

Once you WANT to quit an e cig will get you there.

I reccomend an ego twist or similar with a kanger protank . I smoked menthols and like a strong menthol flavor...For juice I'd go with Halo Subzero. If you smoked regular cigs start with 18 mg nic, lites go with 12mg nic and ultra lites go with 6 mg nic.

Dont forget to buy double batteries and tanks just in case of a failure....You dont wat any excuse to go back to analogs...

I started with a disposable...thought it was OK until it gave up on less than 200 puffs and certainly didn't address my nicotine habit.

Then, I got into a proper rechargeable, which wasn't "proper" at all as it would have cost $2,000 a year and still not provide enough nicotine.

So, I got a "top-of-the-range" look-a-like, which whilst far cheaper (as I was filling my own cartos) didn't quite stop me smoking, still some craving issues sadly....

- - -

So, that was $200-250 into the journey.

- - -

Then, I discovered there were forums for e-cigs! Wow.... and I thought there wouldn't be much of that.

SO, I got into medium-sized batteries, refillable clearos and cartos and stopped smoking for good.

- - -

Everything after that has been hobby behavior.

I smoked 15 a day and feel let down by the products which promise so much, yet deliver so little.

- - -

I have been watching a video (in the UK) today about small look-a-like e-cigarettes. Interesting to note that in naive users (newbies, beginners etc.) small e-cigs do not raise the nicotine level in the blood enough to be useful.

What that means, put simply, is that most mini e-cigs will not work, they do not deliver enough nicotine.

I would make them illegal.....or publish scientific facts on the web-sites.

i personaly own a Logic ecig also. the menthol is a semi vanilla with a menthol after kick. i do know that alot of people who use ecigs end up buying high end kits and tanks ect. as a regular smoker i dont wanna take that route, i rather just buy preffilled cart and slap it on my ecig. started with a blue disposable that didnt last the walk home, i turned around and purchased a "21 century" brand rechargable, and have since switched to logic as its more dependable. "21century" seams to gunk up rather quickly and the flavor IMO is not all that great. if you like the Logic, id say just go get a kit since they are only about 20$ an come with menthol and non menthol. then again, dont listen to me because i dont like to persuade some one to buy something that they potentialy wont like in the long run. its ben 5 days since my switch of brands, havent had to switch carts yet or charge the battery from the initial package opening. i used to smoke a pack every 1-2 days.

If you like what your are using, please keep using it. I just wanted to point out that what you seem to be refering as a high end kit is really not high end. You can get an ego kit from fasttech for bout 20$ and it would be a much more enjoyable vape.

But as I said, if you like it.... Stick with it.
