I am starting this thread in order to document this pivotal, decade defining moment that many of us witnessed first hand. When such life changing events occur, many people find solace in sharing their stories.

Older folks usually remember exactly where they were the moment they heard that JFK had been shot. By hearing their stories we are able to put ourselves into their frame of mind and better understand what it must have been like to live through such an event.

Likewise, we can share our experiences of AVE going offline and document it here for posterity, so that later generations may remember and understand what we lived through. This is my story:

I was sitting on the couch watching TV with my wife when I got an eerie feeling that something was terribly wrong. Instinctively I turned on the computer and immediately went to check the AVE website. I felt like a shock wave hit me when I realized it was offline. I ran to the phone and called all my friends and relatives to make sure everyone was alright. Thank God everyone was ok. Although we had all survived the initial shock, repercussions would be felt throughout the country for many weeks to come.

These were very dark days in America, filled with much trepidation and uncertainty. People did what they had to just to survive. I heard stories of good people, normal people you would never suspect, buying bad juice just to get by. We even heard tales of some folks actually trying to mix their own. No one should have to live like that. I pray that our children will never know such suffering.
