I recently put down the cigarettes and picked up a ego-t kit. That lasted 3 days. I went to a local ecig store and bought a couple ego twist batteries and some ce4 clearos and what a difference it makes being able to change the voltage! I will eventually move to a provari, but I think the ego twist is a great lower cost alternative.

The day I got home with my twists I found this great article. It would have saved me some money. I think this should be stickied in the new members area.

Take it for what its worth. This is just one persons opinion. allot of what is said is preference. The best advise I can give you is get away from disposables you are throwing away your money.
When you see a mod you like research it thoroughly and if you buy you know what it will and wont do. But dont let other peoples opinions stop you from trying something whats good for one person isn't necessarily good for another.
and Welcome!

The ego is cool and works great, but in the end it is still a disposable e-cig. The battery will die and when it does in the garbage it goes. It's a great devise and people love them and I am not saying otherwise. I am just pointing out the one obvious downfall. Another is that they are easy to short out and then what do you do other than toss it out? It's true that some people get more use than others before they give up the ghost.

Agreed. Not bad info, but opinions...well...everyone has them. I am new...sort of...and I do not agree with everything there. I don't think there is only one path. I wish there was a way to say "spend $200 on product X and stop smoking". If there was and I developed it, I would be rich. There are MANY ways to be successful. What worked for me might just suck for you.

Either way, best of luck to you.

You should be aware that that the author of that "handbook" is someone who seems to have a bone to pick with the Provari for some reason. He seems to bash the Provari at every opportunity and finds tiny little nits to pick with it that don't really matter to anybody in the real world.

For example, he criticizes it for requiring multiple button pushes to access different functions. Most people who own a Provari will tell you that the menu system is a non-issue and that they very quickly became accustomed to it.

Also, there are a couple of new low cost, small form factor VV devices available now that he doesn't mention - the new KGO and eGo variable volt units. The advantages each of them has over the Twist are that (a) it has an LED display that lets you adjust voltage in 0.1volt increments, (b) it goes to 6 volts (versus 4.8 for the Twist), (c) the display tells you the charge level of the battery, and (d) you can use it as a pass-through so you can vape while you charge.

HoosierEcig sells the KGO version here (use coupon code 5off for 5% off):

KGO V.V. 650mAh

Apollo sells the eGo version and they have a 10% off sale through today (use coupon code "laborday"):

Apollo eGo-VV Battery

The eGo and KGO VV's are new and I haven't seen any reviews of them. But both units are made by companies that have been around for a while, so I wouldn't worry about buying one, especially from a good vendor like Hoosier or Apollo.

i would check out a vmax or a zmax before buying a provari. :2cool:
I have a VMax This is my second. I had a V1 it lasted all of a week. I now have a V2 no complaints Ive read the V4s have a 50% failure rate so you can own 2 and throw your money away or buy 1 well made Mod seems like a no brainier to me. I have a Provari also The comparison stops at how it looks. 99% of people who knock Provaris don't own one. In my Opinion you have no place to judge something if you haven't used it.
