I keep mine discrete when out and about, but I think it's because of my job. I vape all over the place at work in 100% stealth mode. To this day no one there has ever seen me use it, even though they all know I do vape. If I was open with it at work I feel pretty sure the hammer would come down in the form of a written policy prohibiting it. I don't want to be in violation of a work policy, so I prefer it not ever be an issue there. I think because I'm always in stealth mode at work that behavior translates to public also. I use mine everywhere I go, I just don't let anyone see me use it.

There is a dude at work (yes,I vape openly everywhere at work, and I work in a hospital!!) that keeps making snide comments and giving me half-axx dirty looks (he was an olympic dude before catching cancer) that just wont put between his ears that its not smoke...all oters admitted that it doesnt bother them since they cant smell anything.

Its mostly that,if they can smell it,its autobad.

For some just seeing it is enough to cringe.

Most are just curious though, they know I know its forbidden (specially in a hospital!!)

A lot of patients smoke, they got to get dressed and go outside (even if its -30C) no exceptions...I tought about becoming a vendor

when i first got my pv i was pretty shy about using it outdoors, but that took about half a day to get used to. disposable pvs are only now becoming available in a few locations here, and not many people associate my pv with those little dinky things. more often than not people assume i'm using drugs, but i live/work/play downtown where drug use is relatively common anyways. also, a few years ago i was mildly involved in prohibition activism so it kind of makes me feel nostalgic.
i've never tried vaping in a public indoor place, and i don't think i will try to ask for special treatment. i just perceive it as a step back to pretend it's not unusual or controversial when a concern of health canada's appears to be the use of pvs to avoid smoking bans. notwithstanding the fact it's pretty socially unacceptable where i'm from. anti-smoking zealots are all over, and restrictions are pretty tight. in addition, i work in a few retail settings and i would be kind of upset if someone just thought they could whip out their pv in a shared public place.
however i'm not above stealth vaping. i haven't done it yet, but there are a few situations where i find it to not be disruptive. they're pretty much exclusive to airports, or where i'm being held hostage in an area where smoking is not permitted. i would vape in airport bathrooms where going outside is not allowed, and given half a chance i'm definitely vaping in plane bathrooms.
i can survive comfortably for up to 2 hrs without vaping, it's in between hours 2 and 3 where vaping becomes a priority for near future events. this is about the point where in most social settings other smokers in the group will excuse themselves for a break. it's not a huge deal.

Mind you,in case somebody perceive me as some kind of anarchist (well...) the hospital where I work has very little pedestrian traffic at the lvl I work at,mostly offices.

I made a point of showing it to as many people as I could the 1st week, instruct them and even offered them to get them one.

I turned 2 so far, each cut down a lot on analogs using the 510...they dont like the look of a PV...yet.

My bosses knows, even the director wants some for her parents!

I look at it this way, why do you even need to vape while out shopping, eating or at the movies? I just leave mine at home or in the car because I have never once been somewhere and just thought "Oh my God I need to vape right now!" I don't even think about it when I'm doing something. It's like people that talk on their phone as loud as they can in the middle of a store, they're not hurting anyone or breaking any laws, they're just annoying! I guess some people crave attention more than others.

Eventually that guy will complain to your boss and you will end up getting banned from vaping at work all together. I would avoid vaping around him if it bothers him.

Well,it was just my introductory e-cigs (the look-alike)..I dont vape with PVs in public really...I did it just enough so everybody would notice, ask, discuss and know what I was doing.

I`m 45yrs old,I tendto know what i`m doing :)

Master plan!

Totally open about vaping. I do get an occasional odd look when I take a big toot off my Tekk but have had no issues. I even use it in my large office but simply hold it in a bit longer to avoid big clouds of vapor rising from my desk. My boss is totally cool about it so when we go into meeting rooms (all glass) I bring it in and use it there too. I NEED it with some of the meetings!!!

Add me to the list of Vapers who don't care what other people think about them vaping.

I do however try to vape in neutral open places.

Supermarket? Kmart? Best buy? a bar? YEP. you may ask me what I'm "smoking", but keep your tone even and nice. I will happily stop if a staff member takes issue with what I'm doing, so far I have had no problems.

Places I will not Vape
Someone's home without permission
Toy stores or any other kid swamped place
Restaurants
Crowded train
Doctor's office, unless my doc says it's okay.

This past week I went to see my allergist. He congratulated me when I told him that I quit smoking. He then of course asked me am I on the patch or gum. I pull out my V2 and he was like, "Oh well isn't that a nifty gadget!" (he's 74:D). I had a blast vaping away in my allergist's office as his nurse gave me 30+ shots. It definitely helped keep me calm.

I don't use my PV openly anywhere I wouldn't smoke. I also don't fart anywhere there isn't a bathroom. Other people need not be subjected to anything emitted by anyone dissipating into the air they breathe unless they consent or can easily remove themselves from it (example outdoors).

Even as a smoker I HATED the stench outside the doors of places where there were ashtrays, it disgusted me and you have no choice but to walk through it or don't enter.

I have Two Very Simple Rules that I use when it comes to Vaping.

#1 - I Vape Openly Where Every Smoking a Cigarette is Acceptable.

#2 – If Smoking is Not Acceptable in an Area, I Do Not Vape.

The Only time I deviate from this is when I’m in the Car. I vape openly but tend to Look Around to see if there is a Police Officer that can see me.

Not because I am doing something Illegal. But because I know that if a Police Officer sees a Plume of what looks like Smoke coming out of My Mouth and I’m Not holding something that looks like a Cigarette, He might just decide to check out just what I’m doing.

And I don’t care to sit on the side of the road for a Half Hour while he checks things out.

I vape both openly and discretely depending on my location and situation. I live in King County, WA where there is a ban in place on using "E-Cigarettes" in any place real cigs are not allowed. I have never had a run in with LE regarding this, but several establishments have asked me not to use my PV indoors, and one cited the law specifically:

- I was at a pool hall on Capitol Hill, Seattle openly vaping and not thinking much of it. The Manager approached me and politely informed me that I was not allowed to use my PV in their establishment because they could not tell what I was "smoking" and I could easily slip in a spliff and they wouldn't be the wiser. While I did not agree with his logic, i complied due to the nature in which he approached me...No big deal. I frequent this particular pool hall about twice a month, and I still use my PV while playing pool, but I use it discreetly and I have not had any further issues.

- I was at another pool hall in Seattle (Can you tell I like to play pool?) and was vaping openly. The Manager approached me, and again politely informed me that while he didn't see a problem with me vaping indoors, he was made aware that there was a law in "WA State" that prohibited e-cigs from being used indoors. This was before I knew about the law in King County, and because he was cordial about it I complied...again, no big deal. I then went home and researched the law and learned that it just applied to King County. I frequent this establishment once a week, and I vape discreetly while playing pool, and it hasn't been an issue.

- I was in a Casino (Local Card room type casino, not a reservation casino where smoking is allowed) a few months back playing some black jack and using my PV at the table. Another patron asked me if I was supposed to be "smoking" in here rather rudely, and before I could reply, the pit boss turned around rebuted that there isn't a law that says I can't so it is allowed. I was shocked to have someone step in like that without me having to even say a word. This establishment banned E-cigs shortly thereafter due to a customers claim that the vapor exhaled still contains nicotine. I do not vape in this establishment as Casino Bouncers can be quite violent.

- When I visit one of my favorite pubs, I vape openly unless the place is crowded with a bunch of non-regulars. The staff doesn't care, and neither do any of the regular patrons, but I don't like being asked to explain everything there is to know about vaping 15 different times in one hour. I still vape, but more discreetly in these situations. I think I should just print up some public awareness flyers to hand out.

Bottom line for me is that I will use my PV when and where i want to, unless I see a real reason not to. I will comply with requests not to vape indoors initially, but discreetly vape upon subsequent visits. Call me selfish if you like, but that's my position.

When there becomes a nationwide ban on vaping anywhere that smoking isn't allowed you can thank the people who vape everywhere trying to get reactions from people so they can "educate" them or because they can't wait a few minutes until they get outside or to their car. All it takes is a few complaints and it gets banned. Then if you try to vape at work in the bathroom or a back room and get caught you get fired because it's illegal where before you would have probably only been told not to do it.

I vape everywhere... even at restaurants. I fly a lot and always am discreet when vaping maiking sure to hold in the vapor so the passengers don't think something is on fire .
Now that I have a v-mod.... not sure I can use it on a plane since it might look like a small bomb ;)

Vaping on a plane sounds like a horrible idea to me! A lot of people are still very nervous about flying as it is, if someone sees you acting suspicious you could cause a panic on the plane. Not to mention you may have other passengers jump on you and start beating you down if they think you're up to something. Just doesn't seem worth it for a nic fix.

So I shouldn't stealth vape my pistol magazine mod on an airliner? I can work with that. And, a church....not like I'm going to be in one any time soon, but OK, I'm with you.

Anywhere else, I walk in with my PV hanging from my mouth. This gives the establishment time to see that it isn't a cigarette, and "whatever that thing is" is probably legal.... because I'm not trying to hide it. It gives them the chance to ask me to not use it in their place. I'm cool with that too.
