I appear to be in the minority. I've tried cotton, ecowool, and other types of silica. I just can't get a good taste out of the thing. It's not burnt, it produces vapor, it just has a weird taste to it.

So I'm wondering if there's others that just aren't impressed with the things. I have a 91% on the way. I'll give that a shot before I give up on this design, but to me, my AGA's with a SS wick just give a better vape.

My idea is most start with disposable systems then eventually move up. The get a juice they either like or grow used to and then when put into a device that delivers closer to the real taste the blame the device. Now I don't mean to put anyone down since I also found this in my case and eventually found juices that I did like often by other makers with the same flavor designs. One other thing is nicotine levels are usually cut when using a rebuildable as they can become a lot stronger also effecting the taste.

No, you're not in the minority. IMO, the genesis attys can produce the best vape out there, WHEN DONE RIGHT!!!!! However, the kayfuns won me over, because they can provide a very good vape, are extremely easy to use and pretty much never leak. I also just don't need the absolute fog machine that my aga-t2 used to be.

I had a Russian 91 for a bit but I never really enjoyed it. The worst part for me was having to take it off and put it back on when it was time for a fill. After I found a screwdriver to open the fill hole. And a needle-tipped bottle to fill it. And a paper towel when it leaked from holding it upside down. Yep.
I will say that they are damned easy to build and can work very well if set up properly, but build it bad and suffer the consequences LOL.
I'll join your minority. Sold my Ruskie and I'm on to bigger and better things.

I thought I hated mine at first for the first week and a half. Constant leaking and wicking issues even with a decent build. Found out that EHPRO screwed up and left a piece of plastic in the airhole in the center post that was causing all of my problems though and now it vapes like a dream.

Refilling it is still a PITA though.

I have found that when they are new, it takes awhile (even after a good cleaning) for the "funny taste" to go away. Also, even after a rebuild (I use wick and silica) it often takes a bit of time to get the new build "broken in" so that the "new wick" taste goes away.

Once the strange taste goes away the things are amazing. By the time I get to my second tank full, my Kayfun clone produces a rich, full bodied and very mellow taste that I just can't seem to get with any other atomizer. I dry burn my kanthal when I make a new build, and also torch (with my handy BIC) both the silica and coil just before I mount it. Even so, I get a bit of the strange taste, but it goes away shortly and the results are worth the efforts involved (in my case).

I would suggest that you give it at least a tank full and see if it improves, if you haven't done so already.

I've had this thing apart so many times, it's not funny. I've washed it like 10 times. I've had like 10 coils on it, silica, ewool silica, cotton. The thing just tastes weird. Multiple juices too. Also don't enjoy the crackling and popping either. I think the thing just sucks, or I just suck. We'll see how the 91 goes when it arrives. This is a "Together Best Cooperation" knockoff. Came with pre-stripped allen air hole threads too, as an added bonus.

Used clone? I didn't say it was used. I bought it new. Together best cooperation you know? :-x

I've built tons of coils. The coil is perfect. The air hole threads were stripped from the go, the fluid channels, well there were hardly any. I fixed them with a dremel. I tried cotton, I tried ecowool and it's got 2mm silica in there now. It's wicking now, just tastes weird. Have had multiple juices in it. I thought it might be the cotton that tastes weird. But I have a microcoil on my AGA T2 with cotton and that tastes fine. The thing has been apart and washed and put back together 10x with multiple juices. The thing is a complete LEMON. I'm not writing it off completely, or bashing the Kayfun altogether. I mean endless others like it.

So if the next one is a flop, then I'm all dun with Kay Fun.

Can't speak to clones at all but I can say I received a new KFL Lite plus V2 tonight. I gave it a 10 minute soak in everclear, built a 1.3 ohm coil on a 1.5mm mandrel, wicked it with an organic cotton wick and have been happily vaping away ever since. Considering this is my first build on it I'm pleased. Flavor, vapor production and warmth of the vape are all good. Filling it is a PITA but I knew that going in so can't really complain about it.

If I wanted to pick nits, my only complaints would be that the packaging is pretty cheesy, there was some flash on the inside of the plastic tank (which broke off easily but still .. I should've never gotten one that way) and it would've been nice if they'd at least included a screwdriver with the thing.

Kayfun Lite? Personally, I prefer the 3.1. I have an authentic and it has no filling issues, which promotes no leaking issues. Provides one of the truly best vapes in a rebuildable tank atomizer (RTA). Flavor is hard to beat. I use a 1/16 micro coil in 28 ga. with cotton. Not too much wick, painted on the side with juice. Vapes like a champ. Overall, though, I do prefer the Taifun. Slightly less flavor, but overall very easy to build, refill, great vapor. On paper the kayfun 3.1 wins hands down, but it's hard to get the Taifun out of my hand, just overall a great RTA. A good micro coil with cotton is my preference on both devices between 10 and 12 Watts with 1.2 ohm coils. That's my sweet spot. Occassionally, I can do something wrong and I break the pressure seal and have some leaking. However, it's easily remedied. Still hard for me to believe that the Kayfun with variable air flow control comes in a close second to the Taifun for me. Hard to explain, but the missus thinks so too. Just an overall kinda experience, even though we both agree that the saturated vapor flavor is slighltly better than the Taifun. What can I say? Both excellent, and my vape world is pretty complete with them atop our Provari's and Semo's. My two cents. YMMV. Good luck!

sorry I thought because of the stripped screw it was used. if it was like this when you received it why didn't you send it back for a replacement? if this was stripped maybe someone sent it back, which could also mean there were other issues with it. clone or not if you purchased new this isn't acceptable and they should replace it.
