Can someone please help me?

I'm doing some research and would like to create a comprehensive list of what politicians are expressly anti-vaping, specifically anyone who has actually tried to introduce a bill in an attempt to regulate or ban e-cigs or others who have openly spoken out against vaping.

Please, if you know of someone who has done this, please let me know their name, the office they hold, and what bill they introduced or what other action they have taken against e-cigs.

Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Thanks so much!!

I know Washington State tried a 100% sales tax on all ecigs....didn't pass and Oregon is working on a bill to hit the floor on the next session after elections. Oregon wants no flavors...It attracts kids :facepalm:and it regulated like any other cigarette. I live in oregon and I went and spoke on it last summer and it was decided to send it back to committee until the new term.

Senator Edward J. Markey - Massachusetts

We've made great strides educating young people about the dangers of smoking, and we cannot allow e-cigarettes to snuff out the progress we've made preventing nicotine addiction and its deadly consequences. This is why I was one of the original cosponsors of the "Protecting Children from the Electronic Cigarette Advertising Act", which prohibits the marketing of e-cigarettes to children and teens.

Senator Elizabeth Warren - Massachusetts

As American consumers, we rely on the FDA and other government agencies to ensure that products available for purchase are safe. I support the FDA's proposed rule that would require e-cigarettes and other tobacco products to comply with certain regulations, including a ban on sales to minors, a requirement to disclose all ingredients, and a requirement to display a health warning on product packages and advertisements.

Is this what you're looking for? I have no problem with banning sales to minors but I know that's not as far as they'll go... :(

just go thru the Calls to Action and you will have a lot o what you need. Calls to Action by State published by CASAA:
CASAA: Calls To Action by State

What is the purpose of your *research*? No offense but the way in which you asked, i.e. the info you said you wanted, is pretty much asking other people do do vast amounts of research for you. ;)

So are you actually *researching*, or just *compiling* ?

Most o this has already been done by CASAA.

Bloomberg most obvious, then you have states like DE, RI.
It doesn't appear to be totally partisan, Christie, Snyder & Kasich are all REP and then you have states like UT and ND....OK trying, too.

Don't forget stuff like Cruise Lines, etc.

I guess I'm left wondering then, why any research is necessary, since you seem to have encapsulated it already:

D=bad
R=good

for single-issue voters (people for whom there are no issues other than vaping) I suspect your observation will make things pretty simple.

Gotta disagree about this being a single issue. I have enough "grievances", it very well may make me SICK. From national security to the blatant abuse of power.
To try and narrow it down to a single issue is either absurd or simple deflecting.

But, since this is a single issue forum, I`ll leave it at that. Your absolutely right. If the one thing you want to do in life is get off cigarettes without a controlling manipulating greedy government blocking you with asinine self serving logic, then this SHOULD be a single issue for you.

I would hope that we all can agree that selling to minors is wrong. Yet that really isnt the issue here. The real issue is some in our government be it local, State or Federal Government decided vaping isnt safe and is demanding it be regulated and taxed. We are seeing fear tactics and blatent misinformation tactics being used by those who support regulations.

These facts have been ignored by those who wish to have the vaping industry regulated.

Fact - Doctors have come out publicly and claimed nicotine by itself is no more dangerous than caffeine.

Fact - Nicotine is found in potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetables that we consume daily.

Fact - The only real connection to tobacco that vaping has is some flavors are derived from steeping tobacco leaves.

These simple facts are being ignored by those who believes government needs to control every aspect of our lives. It is an unproven fact that if and when the government does begin to regulate the vaping industry many will not be able to afford the cost. Many shops will close down and vaping as we know it will be a thing of the past. For elected officials to want to add taxes of $.50 a ml their only goal is to end vaping for whatever reason.

But the discussion would never be complete without asking WHO is behind the fear factor on vaping, the blatent misinformation about vaping and the desire to regulate and tax it into obscurity. People need to look past the party and look at those who are against vaping. Vaping is NOT a tobacco product and has no buiseness being regulated like it was. The elected officials who support regulating vapin needs to be voted out regardless which party they are a member of.

Mayor Nutter signed into law a vaping ban in Philadelphia, pretty much equated vaping with cig smoking. Currently, Councilman Greenlee and Councilwoman Brown have propsed legislation to tax e-cigarettes $2 each and e-liquid (or nicotine solution as they're calling it) $0.50 a ml in Philly :(

Wow a .50 tax per ml on e-liquid. I like to buy almost all my juice in 120ml bottles which is already costly. So instead of paying $75 I would have to pay another $60 on top of that. So $135 for 120ml of juice I think not, I would just go back to smoking it would save me a lot of cash.

The tax is capped at $5 per transaction. It is still a steep tax.
