Who needs friends?

There's no increased functionality. 
I have lots of friends just from participating, without a "list". There's a great bunch of "Volties" here if you want to join us: Smokeless Image

I am not sure there is any need to make friends here. Although, your post seems to imply that you do not want or need them, so why try?
I have only one "friend" on this forum but I feel like we are all a community that is trying to work together to a common end so we are all friends in the end. If that is not for you and makes you feel like you are trying to plug a hole in your life then skip it.

I was never really sure either! I think I have four or five after over a year!! I THINK that if you find a member that you have a report with, you are able to find them easily in another thread, or see what they have been up to easily! I guess I wasn't the best person to answer, dunno!!
Hi Laura - I think most people don't bother with it and just participate or PM each other.
Oh xanderman - I didn't mean to imply that at all. Just really don't know what the benefit is to the "friend request" function of the forum and was trying to be funny about it. Friends are awesome and the only hole I need to plug is the one in my wallet
It all depends on what you intend to use this or any forum for. If it's a social gathering for you then you might like to see what your friends are up to. If it's simply information you seek then there is no need for friends. Take your pick or have a little of both. Either way you get back what you put in.
This. If there are people whose posts you like to keep up with, it's a little easier to find those if they're in your friends list. I'm not sure there's any advantage to it other than that.
Ok, but fair warning, I like long walks on the beach and I've been told I care too much.
I consider an invite from another ECF member to be a compliment...is there anything in it for me...no except for the fact that someone else considers me to be worthy of friendship and that's priceless IMO. Over the past year I've gotten to know some very nice people here and some not so nice...besides the fact that most of my friends have sent me an invite and it would be disrespectful to not accept that invite. My friends list generally consists of those I've helped and those that have helped me in times of need. Ya want friends, that's cool and if ya don't want friends that also cool.
Well I just tried it for the first time - you click on the person's name, then click on profile. Then on their profile on the left you click Add Friend.
Well, I actually have built up some friends here myself. BIG surprise to me!
Some are friends with me because we meet often at local vapemeets. It comes in handy when you want to PM one of them. I've gotten other people who have requested me to be their friend because I have helped them in some way. This makes it easier for them to PM me, when they have a question or problem. So, for the most part, it easies communication.

I've only added people that sent me a request. I follow certain forums and threads rather than people, but I kind of consider everyone here a "friend". We all have a common goal, and common experiences, so yeah...
