Okay so I've jumped into the DIY life with both feet.

After doing all my research I decided to take my 500 ml 100% nicotine and mix it with half VG, thereby doubling the amount to 1000 ml @ 50%, making it safer to work with. I thought it through very carefully and ordered everything I'd need. I went with 15 ml amber round bottles, not quite filled to the top and then I'd planned to bubble wrap them, put them in a safe metal box and freeze them. That way I can pull out a small amount to make juice as needed. I'm so amazingly brilliant (and humble)! :p

So, I get everything set up. Plastic down, safety gear on, double gloves, bottles all lined up, blah blah ad infinitum. After mixing the nicotine with the VG I separate 500 ml to put into the small jars and off I go for the next two hours, carefully filling little bottles. Super proud of myself :D as usual, I grab the lids that came with the bottles. They were in a separate bag but shipped in the box with the bottles.

OMG TOO BIG!!!:ohmy: NOOOOO! So now my nic juice is getting all oxidized (overly dramatic much?) and it's nearly midnight and I've got no lids! So I ended up putting plastic wrap and tape on each bottle after cleaning the outside and drying, which took forever. Then I put them all in the metal box and put the box gently in the fridge with a "DO NOT TOUCH UPON CERTAIN DEATH!" note taped to it.

Then I proceeded to clean up my HazMat scene, after which I wrote a scathing e-mail to onlinevials.com telling them they better send someone to Sacramento via jet by noon tomorrow with the correct lids. :evil:(we will see how that goes over.)

So babes, lesson for today;
TRY YOUR LIDS ON FIRST! :oops: DHO!!!

If you can, make sure they send you "poly" caps. Usually most come with fiber caps. Fiber caps don't do well in the freezer! I had to get mine from over the phone. These people are very easy to work with! Just tell them the size of your bottles and they will help you.

How can you tell the difference from the poly and fiber caps? I bought amber bottles that came with dark brown/black caps with what I believe are poly cone inserts in the cap.

They've got a plastic silicone looking cone in the top. The others just have a little piece of plastic covered cardboard.

Thanks guys, yes of course I meant 50% mg AND 1000% ml :facepalm: what can I say? It was late and I was whacked out.
Also about the lids, I too got the poly cone inserts in my lids Paddymix, it that correct or should I be getting something else?

I feel for you. I'm so glad you took all those precautions. Also, thanks for your great sense of humor and the warning included in your post. WOW!

Plastic not recommended. Read this post and the link in the following post.

While TM is great, plastic does not expand when cooled. Nearly everything known to man contracts when cooled with the noticeable exception being water, which for some reason causes much confusion. (Technically it is already frozen since it is in it's solid form in order to be a bottle.)

Leeching is a concern, but if the bottle is HDPE, the likelihood of that is slim and would be more than adequate for storage until the proper caps come in. I've stored nicotine solution in the freezer in HDPE bottles for months and the nic came out just the way it went in.

(I knew I shouldn't have passed on answering that question in the Vet's forum when I saw it...)
