Who's still vaping 1.8ohm Kanthal?

It's not really about the resistance of the coil. If I wind a 3 mm coil of Kanthal, 8 turns and hit it with 30 watts, it will vape pretty much the same as a nickel/titanium/stainless coil of the same dimensions and gauge, when hit with the same 30 watts of power. They all have the same surface area and have to dissipate the same amount of heat. The differences between metal alloys will not be that great. The main difference will be in their resistance. The nickel coil will be very much sub-ohm, ranging to the Kanthal which would be above 1 ohm. Regulated mods are able to fire both sub-ohm and higher ohm builds, but the actual function of the heat generating coil doesn't change.

Quite often, higher ohm coils are wound with a smaller gauge wire. Smaller wire will generally heat up faster, and your mod spends less energy pre-heating the coil up to vape temperature. The typical downside of the smaller coil is that the 'window' between too cool and too hot of a vape gets smaller. If the wire is too small that window may only be 4 or 5 watts. With larger gauge wire, the window opens up considerably.

My coils vary anywhere from 0.12 ohms all the way up to 2 ohms. Depends on the wire, the atomizer I'm building and my mood. Typically I use 28 gauge, sometimes 26. I've got both smaller and larger gauges on hand, but those sizes make the coils I like, whatever their resistance. My mods handle the rest.

I have triple strand twisted 34g nichrome 7wraps @ 1.8 ohms around 2mm eko wool in a protank for when I go metal detecting... and the same in my neighbors as well. Other wise im @ .44 on subtank mini twisted kanthal with the Istick 100 low wattage about 3 volts.... #LOVEN'EM'ALL

I love higher ohms, saves on juice...
But I also love me some subΩ vaping as well

1.8Ω for me in a simple smoktech ARO tank on istick 30's and MVP 11 watt batteries. I have tried the lower Ω's and it isn't for me. I do a MTN (mouth through nose) draw....

For some reason when I first read this, I pictured you putting a drip tip up your nose and inhaling that way....lol.
