I am back to trying Silica/Ekowool myself for a change lol.

I am presently using MUJI Japanese cotton for wicking, but I too like silica because you can dry burn your coil without burning up the wick. I go back and forth between cotton and silica.

Just made a new single coil last night:

8 wraps of 27 gauge Kanthal wound on a 7/64" (2.8mm) drill bit = 1.3 ohms

Feeding this coil 13.0 watts

Heat Flux is 125

Nice vape in my Lemo 2 (mouth to lung)

32 gauge kanthal,2.3 to 2.6 ohm coils @ 5.4 to 5.6 watts on my Kayfun Lite Plus clone,Eleaf Lemo and Subtank Mini.
I had to dummie down the air tube (air pipe directly below the coil) on the Subtank Mini and Lemo to get my vape just right for me.
I was at a local B & M vape shop the other day to buy a spool of 32 gauge kanthal and was told they no longer carry it and the skinniest wire they sold was 28.

I range from Ni200 coils at 0.15 to kanthal 1.8 in PT2s and Nautis. I have some 26 and 28g for my RDAs. It's all about my mood at time of picking up my vape....

And I have a spool of SS wire and some Clapton wire en route!
Yeah! a 1.8 clapton.

Hi,

I was wondering how many of you still vape on 1.8ohm Kanthal (or close to that). I haven't caught on to subohm vaping even though I have a Triton tank. I like the way higher resistance coils heat up slower (so I can take longer draws), as well as the increased battery life and reduced heat.

I kind of feel like it's older tech though, so am curious if I am the minority these days, trying to recreate the vape of my old ego =p

Thanks!

I've been vaping on 1.7Ω kanthal since about April, but lately I've had to move up to 2Ω kanthal, since one of my xmas presents is an iPV Mini, which doesn't step down -- so in order to get something like 9w, I had to increase the resistance. On my other mods that do step down, I just vape the higher resistance coils at 9.5-10 watts, instead of 8.5-9 watts.

It's a lovely vape, either way.

When you say "dummie down the air tube" .... I am thinking that you had to somehow make the opening of this air hole smaller?

Can you tell me how you actually made the hole smaller on your Lemo.

Thanks,

Yes,I did reduce the diameter of these air holes.I cut small pieces of silicone tubing and carefully shoved them down into the Lemo and subtank air pipes.I found this much better than playing around with the adjustable air flow rings that come with both.

It's been over a year, I think, that I've been using a ZNA clone and a Nautilus with 1.8 ohm (sometimes 1.6, just because they were cheap once) coils. I occasionally switch to a different simple regulated mod, but still with a Nautilus, or with a carto tank. I still haven't learned how to build coils. I DID order a TC mod last night, because I got some Christmas money, but I'll still be using my Nauti's. I want to learn someday how to build, but the Nauti's are just so easy and I love the 5ml capacity. And I never go above 9 watts either. It would be cool though to learn some new stuff and have even more airflow and flavor.

My all day set up is 1.5 and 1.8,however I mtl my .5 in an Atlantis with a smaller drip tip . I do this for my bakery juice because I like it warmer. I also have a 28g 2.1 kanthal coil in my Derringer for sampling. Nothing beats my 1.5 gs air and 1.8 nautilus mini bvc for me.

I'm using the stock coil that came with the rba on the subtank mini which is .5, but when I rebuild it will be at 1-1.2 that is usually my sweet spot.

Same here. 1.0-1.2, 11W on the RBA subtank mini. Works great plenty of clouds, great flavor. Easy, set it and forget it.

I still use the 1.8 ohms with Kanthal wire.. I have many tanks and mods.. Still like the one I started with also.. The evod tank and battery with the 1.8 ohm when I go out..lol
At home I use about four different mods and tanks that have different ejuices in each of them.. Still I am a tootle puffer more than a sub person. I chase flavor not clouds.
I believe everyone should vape what suits them best and keeps them off the cigs...
