I got a PV because of travelling. I hate to stand outside and chain smoke until the last minute before going through security check point before my flight. Then find out at the gate that the flight is delay --- should I or should I not head back out for another one.

Hotels are going smoke free and most have no balcony so it is really inconvenient to get a smoke by the lobby door in my PJs.

I continued to smoke because I enjoyed it, I did 50% want to quit but my wife, my son, my bosses. Most of the important people in my life wanted me to quit. I tried vaping w/ no expectation I would really quit smoking I was just curious but turns out I love it and am shocked I havent had an analog cigarette this long. Wo0t!

My health was the main reason. I was having frequent respiratory infections and my doctor told me I had to either quit smoking or at least cut back to less than a half pack a day (I knew that would never happen). I had quit cold turkey for 14 years and didn't relish the thought of going through the torment again. Expense also was a factor because between hubby and me, it was 3 cartons of smokes a week @ nearly $40 per carton.

I'm about to have dental surgery and will be having implants put in. The doctor said that while smoking the implants wouldn't be able to heal correctly and they actually suggested vaping as an alternative. I've never really tried to quit smoking because I have alot of stress in my life and never really wanted to because it gave me that crutch I needed to get through the day. But lately I've been short of breath, heart palpatations, and generally not feeling well and since I started vaping just two weeks ago I can breath so much better and have alot more energy.

But to answer your question. All of the above!!

I think health reasons was the primary motivator. I had heard little about ecigs but wondered what if? After about 40 years of smoking and many attempts to quit, one morning about 6 weeks ago, I was sitting outside in the cold and I noticed that my lungs were pretty sore with my first cig of the day. At age 58 and after a liver transplant 10 yrs ago, I have accepted that I was not bulletproof. I decided then I was going to find an ecig and try it. Found a no name disposable in a tobacco store and tried it. Been vaping every since. I then found this forum and have since added a RIVA 510 to my supply and array of about 10 different juices. I'm loving it. My wife still smokes and I still will grab a analog once or twice a day. It just confirms my decision and wisdom of vaping vs analogs. I have gotten a menthol disposable setup for her and she is slowly starting to use it. She loves to be able to go into her office and keep working while having some puffs. Looking forward to converting some of my family members over the holidays. Getting the good ole nic w/o the bad stuff, how cool is that??

The main reason for me was my health. I was only a month shy of turning 40 and was feeling horrible. I was coughing constantly throughout the day and night. I was having bad chest pains which I didn't know if it was my lungs hurting or if I was on the verge of having a heart attack. It was getting to the point that I was afraid to go to sleep at times because I didn't know if I would even wake up. I had no intentions of wanting to quit smoking either. So, I tried this out with the hope that it might cut back my habit maybe by half or so.

All I can say now is "WOW!!". I vape just as much as I was smoking, but I feel 100% better. No more coughing, no more chest pains, and no more guilt about what I was doing to myself.

Today is a great Thanksgiving day for me:)

me too. i'm only 32 but i started having weird feelings in my chest and heart that made me afraid to go to sleep.

Good for you Ed converting people! I had tried numerous times to quit before, but my fiance said I had to quit before she'd marry me. That was the push I needed to seek out a new way of quitting, since I knew the other ways would probably just fail again. It's been almost two weeks without a cig. My fiance is happy, I'm happy, my family, my kids, my co-workers, everyone is happy I quit. :)

Those reasons yes, and many more.

37 years of smoking, trying to catch a full breath, wheezing, fits when talking, yeah.... smoking, gotta love it, but I could never quit.

I guess I just LOVE the process of inhaling smoke, blowing it out, so relaxing ... calms the nerves .. what could replace a cigarette?

Hopped in the wife's car the other day, it was convenient, got out and used mine. She smokes in it, it stinks! phew ....

Technology, gotta love it .....
