I wanted to start this thread to ask how all the people here came up with their names. Is there any meaning behind it?

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30161#ixzz1inSal96PMy screen name is "Carless" and I chose it because its my real first name. Really! It's a family name, but I'm the first to have this spelling of it.
People on forums often assume I'm advertising a lack of transportation, but thats not the case as I have a good truck. It's a '95 model, but has a new engine and tranny and I keep it showroom-clean. I love my truck.
What about you? Why did you choose your screen name? What does it mean?

Here's my baby:

I've had a variety of screen names in various forums and Usenet groups over the years, and I'm really just a little tired of them all because 'cute' quickly wears thin. I've also used real-life nicknames, but I'm beginning to worry that someone might do a little datamining and, by combining what I've said in various places over the years, find more out about me than I ever meant to reveal

I chose FantWriter for this forum because I'm neutral about it. I write science fiction and fantasy short stories and novels. Enuf said. ;)

Angelique is my real name, and my birthday is May 10th. It caused a bit of confusion around here - people thought it meant I used a Joye 510 e-cig - I don't. I've used the nick since I first got online back in onramp and bulletin board days. I'm a bit scared of what people might dig up Googling it, too.

I've had this nickname in real life and as a S/N on another forum I frequent. I was dubbed with the nickname by some friends in GA after some carousing and word got back to my buddies lol. The definition is : It's almost what it sounds like, only a little bit different and a whole lot mo betta!

I like this definition, too. I won't post it here, as the language may be offensive:

My real name is Derek. The only person to call me that was my departed dad (and the teachers at school). Everyone shortened my name to Del. Even my sons called me Del.

In the 80's a sitcom here in old blighty became very very popular. The main character was called 'Del Boy'. Almost over night my shortened name 'Del' became 'Del Boy'. (The sitcom was called 'Only fools and horses'.

My name with poo at the end... idk... that is what I use for everything. So If you are ever on ANY forum or WoW or anything online and see mariahpoo or themariahpoo... that is me. 98% chance its me. Every once and A while someone already took that name, but they are never online... so... yeah.

I'm Hoosier for the same reason folks from the Indiana area have been called Hoosiers since before it became a state.

Back in the early days, Hoosiers were known to enjoy arguements and would take offense if an offered drink was refused. (Sometimes also slightly twisted to say that Hoosiers are hard drinkers who like to fight.)

Today Hoosiers are known for basketball and racing.

I really enjoy being in any form of debate, drink straight bourbon, love basketball, and am a gear-head. Since I'm living in Indiana and have all the expected quirks, it seemed silly not to have the handle. (True Hoosiers debate if pro basketball is really basketball and/or what it should be called instead of basketball. A real Hoosier knows that South Bend ain't south, Marion is not in Marion county, knows what is made in Batesville and is proud of it, and French Lick ain't what you think it is.)
