What are the reasons you started to vape? For me...I have a daughter that is 22 and a son that is 21. Both from my first mariage. After being single for over 12 years I got married again and we have a 17 month old daughter. Never had any want need or desire to quit regular cigarettes. Not really sure what made me do it but one day with no warning to myself I was online ordering an e-cig. It came in the mail 2 days later and that was 8 days ago now. Well I have went to over a pack a day to less than 3 packs since it got here. Dave

My clove cigs were banned, and the clove "cigars" that replaced them taste awful and gave me a constant cough.
Then, I looked on a chinese junk-ordering site, figured it was only $5 and couldn't really be any worse. It didn't take the first time but eventually those $5 cheapies evolved a couple generations and hooked me enough to step up to midsize.

I had tried to quit in Aug 2010. I'd been smoking for 8 years. I felt awful. My mother had just hit her 1 year no-smoking anniversary. It was time.

I did the gum and the lozenges and bought lots of candy and I tried really hard..!!

But I failed. I'd heard of the e-cigarette, and decided to give it a go.

Bought a ridiculously overpriced crappity crappy crap unit (Health e-cig) from a local tobacco shop. That led me to a Blu. Which actually got me to quit, and led me to ECF. The rest (Joye 510, Riva 510, eGos eGos eGos) is history.

Now I have some great setups and couldn't be happier.

I'm 37 and kind of knew that if I didn't quite before I was 40, I probably wouldn't live past the age of 50...had a horrible smoker's cough that started at the age of 22 and got a lot worse over the years. Plus, no one in my family who smoked ever lived past the age of 60. Also, I recently started exercising and was embarrassed not being able to catch my breath on the bike path while just doing a simple, brisk walk. I'm single and my "kids" are my 2 cats, realizing that they may outlive me and end up spending the rest of their lives in a shelter if I were to die was the biggest motivator for me...I love my babies!

I started because the Lung Doctor told me if I didn't stop I'd be carring an 02 bottle within 5 years. I've got severe COPD so it was health related for me. I really got tired of calling an ambulance to carry me to the ER when I was disabled from the exacerbation attacks. (sorry for spelling)

I actually never planned on quitting. I saw a Starcraft 2 commentator using something one night, and found out it was an ecig. I looked the stuff up online, and got a Blu system to try. It got me to cut down on my smoking dramatically but the batteries drove me crazy, so I went to a V2 system, and quit smoking entirely. Eventually that stopped cutting it and got my Provari :p

And still I find myself buying stuff I probably don't need

I didn't plan on giving up smoking. I didn't even know about ecigarettes.

I got an email with 50% off for a 'health e cigarette' starter pack. Within a couple of weeks I upgraded to an ego t and stopped smoking.

I'm really surprised how effective vaping is in stopping smoking. All power to vaping.

Quiting smoking is easy, I've done it hundreds of times. LOL

I made my own cigarettes for years using pre-formed papers with filters and a Premier Cigarette stuffing machine which originally would produce a carton of smokes for less than $4.00 per "carton". Uncle Sam put a huge tax on cigarette tobacco, so I switched to pipe tobacco cut which raised the cost to $7.00 per "carton.
I had previously quit smoking years ago for almost a year, then when I had to switch jobs (which was very stressful) I started again.

One day during a trip to my local tobacco supply shop I spotted the e-cig. Joe the owner suggested trying a single disposable at $8.00 to try it out rather than purchasing a kit for $20.00. The disposable suprisingly lasted me two days, and I never smoked a regular cigarette during that time. During those two days I did a lot of research on this forum and ordered the Standard Starter Kit from Smokless Image. Since that time I haven't looked back and just purchsed an upgrade to their X2 900 mAh manual battery and have experimented with various tobacco E-liquids. I can now vape in the house and car, with no more tobacco smell, burn holes in clothing etc. Although e-cigs are not advertised as a method of quitting cigarettes, you can read loads of testimonials on this forum which indicate that they actually can do just that.

For me, I started on e-cigs a few years back. I had heard about them and ordered a kit from the United States. It was a cig look alike, but you could refill the cartridges with e-juice. The first month I had it, I only smoked four cigarettes. Then things came apart for me, the FDA did a big crack down on e-cigs, all of a sudden I couldn't e-juice anymore or parts.:( Soon after Canada did a crack down on them as well. I was left high and dry. Well, to say the least, I was back on cigarettes. :(

This past September I was having a smoke with a fellow co-worker, and we were talking, and I told her about me using an e-cig a few years back and that it was working so well for me. Well she told me that they were selling them at a local flea market and that you could also buy e-juice with nicotine. :) The flea market was only open on weekends, so I did some internet research on the latest with e-cigs, to re-educate myself. That Saturday I made a bee line down there and bought a ego-c kit and e-juice. I have upgraded since. In the first week of having my e-cig I only smoked 14 cigarettes, not bad for a carton a week guy. Since that first week, I haven't touched a cigarette, and I have been smoking for 37 years. These things work!!!!!! Thank god that the FDA lost in court. Now we can all breath a little easier. At present, I'm 7 weeks tobacco free and counting. I'm spreading the word to fellow smokers that I know, and their listening, just got to get them to make the leap. I'm still addicted to nicotine, but I'm feeling so much better. If the FDA and Health Canada could only see what I see, they would leave us in peace. E-cigs really do work, there's plenty of testimony here to back that up. Happy vaping!

I'll be honest with you...my reason(s) weren't altruistic in the least. I enjoyed good tobacco. I didn't smoke "store bought" manufactured cigs at all if I could avoid it; I bought premium tobaccos and made my own with an injection machine for many years The difference between real tobacco cigs and the disgusting "slurry" they use in manufactured cigs is night and day. However, I'm not getting any younger -- and I was also getting really cheesed off at the government, at it's whim, deciding that I should shoulder a disproportionate share of the tax burden whenever it chose. My reasons were more to stick it to the Man than anything, quite frankly, and I'm glad I did. I feel better, I'm not worried about running out of tobacco or tubes and waiting for a shipment of fresh baccy from South Carolina or Turkey or England, and the tax revenues collected by Uncle Sam have gone way down since I quit while the money staying in my wallet has increased.

Win, win and win!:D
