Why do I want/need temperature control?

I enjoy the technical challenge of making it work, but I have yet to find a setup that gets close to a good Kanthal build. As already stated, if no dry hits is the main selling point, I already have that with Kanthal, my taste buds and experience.

Hard to say if you "Need" TC.

Do you get Dry Hits on a somewhat Regular Basis?

Are you Wanting to Push the Watts/Temperature to the Fullest with the Hardware/e-Liquids that you have?

That sums it up. If you have found a vape level you enjoy, know how to keep your wicks wet and aren't pushing high power levels, it may be completely unnecessary to move to nickel coils and new toppers, which is what current TC requires.

I am waiting until this technology matures to actually sensing temperature, which Innokin seems to be coming up with. I think it may make the current estimation method obsolete.

Its almost no brainer buy, most mods now come with it and as integrated option you can choose whatever coil you want.
It truly is unbelievable how many mods have hit 100 watts @ ~40 bucks thats outrageous.
Now Tc mods with over 40 watts under 50 bucks is riddiculousness value..

If I posted a year ago there would be 20 mods 100watts or greater, everyone would have laughed at me, let alone if I said they will cost under 80 bucks lol... These things did not exist anywhere less you built it yourself or had a modder build it for you.. If I said it also will have temperature control -- send that guy to nut house lol...

No brainer buy really unless you know you do not need TC and then even better the 100watt istick is awesome @ 33 bucks..

My personal idea buy 40 watt istick tc play with it cause its soooo tiny lol.. I already have a 1000 watt capable mod so ya @26 bucks cannot be smarter purchase..

I really have to agree here with the cost point. My ipv3li was 75 bucks shipped, it handles ni, ti and 200 watts. I'll never use 200 (till next year lol) but I like to think I future proofed myself. We'll at least the very near future ha..

Do you need or want it? No, yes, maybe?

Personally, I've never wound a Kanthal coil. Some came with one of my tanks and I set it aside. I was mostly a "Aspire" vaping dude - most of my tanks were made by them. I like 100% VG and was wrecking coils like mad.

I told myself there has got to be a better way of doing this.

While the vaping geeks at the local B&M push mech mods, drippers and whatever else they happen to have in stock at insane markup in my face every time I get near their store looking for mere supplies the idea sank in that winding my own coils may not be the ultimate savior to my problems. After all it was not the cost of the coils I had issue with but the getting my hands/fingers covered with sticky/slimy VG when I changed coils, missing out on vaping whatever I had in the tank I was using and the overall unreliability of the whole mess was bugging me.

When I bought my 1st TC mod I also purchased 3 tanks. An Atlantis2 (all store bought VS TC coils at first), Subtank mini (along with factory TC coils) and a Lemo2. I figured these covered a wide spectrum of (at the time) currently popular tanks that I could work/grow into.

The stock Kanthal coils for both the Atlantis2 and STM have never been used. While there have been times (operator error) where I've been able to squeeze a 'burnt hit' out of one of my tanks, it is more the rare exception rather than the rule.

Sure, those that are well practiced in the art of coil wrapping and wicking may find little use for TC in general and I often find those experienced in Kanthal cursing how hard Ni200 is to work with. Since I've only been exposed to winding Ni200 - I'm not quite sure what their issues are, I find the stuff very easy to work with. (the recently purchased Ti wire is another story!!)

And YES, I have a pile of 'bone head' coils where I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I started making them however I now have a collection of tanks that provide reliable, dependable and consistent vaping experiences. All (well mostly all, I do have a few TI built/outfitted tanks now) outfitted with Ni200 for TC.

I'm mostly a boarder line 'toodle puffer' who consumes ~5ml of juice a day. I vape direct-2-lung mostly unflavored 100% vg @ 18mg and sometimes mix it up with a few flavors here and there. While I like a decent lung hit I have no interest in "blowing clouds" and have a 'designated car' setup which does not interfere with driving.

Could I have gotten all the above with enough experience and experimentation with Kanthal and regular VV/VW modes? Sure. For me it was just simpler and easier to go the TC route.

Can I blow big clouds if I want to? You bet. One of my Lemo's has this dual coil build that I have to 'throttle back' so I don't choke on the amount of vapor it produces.

TC might come with most modern regulated mods on the market and many that are coming out. Personally I think its here to stay. Not everyone may like it but not everyone likes Nautilus tanks or drippers.

So TC is difficult or fiddly, so for more experienced users, yet experienced users don't need it, because they know how to vape and don't get dry hits, so it is a gimmick for new users to pay more for a mod that has it, or to 'upgrade' to one with TC...

Sounds about right for China marketing...

Ok I have a hankering to find a new mod as I haven't bought anything for a while and I've been looking at Tc mods, but what's the benefit of them?
    Is the vape more consistent?
Will I be able to put more juice through my tank before needing to change wicks or coils?
Also am I right in thinking that with tc I could ramp the wattage up and the heat up time would be much quicker but the temp control would kick in and stop the power getting too high?
You must buy it because it is the latest newest thing out.

Yeah, totally, since it was an American company who actually brought the first working TC to market, then the avalanche started...

You surely must've been a buggy-whip salesman in a previous life.

Why do they call them buggy whips when you whip the horse with them?

Lets take it all the way off the rails...lol

Buggy-whip appears to be synonymous with horse-whip, but i see what you're saying.

On a completely UNinteresting note, it was not uncommon (though pretty damn mean) to attach a small piece of wire to the tip of the whip to give it extra "bite".

My great-grandfather drove a milk cart, one day he whipped the horse(s) and the whip came back and stuck in his eye, he lost the eye, INSTANT KARMA...

Back on topic, once you go TC you don't go back, personally i'll never vape another non-tc mod again.

It is interesting how mad people get at TC though, like it threatens non-tc vaping or something, if you love kanthal and mech/regulated vaping, GREAT, you're not smoking, we're on the same team.

The whole its "useless to experienced users" or "i haven't had a dry hit in (x) amount of years of vaping(lies)" are generally thrown around by people who have ZERO direct experience with the technology, and instead rely on hearsay and angry forum posts to substantiate their inherent biases.

I mean, seriously, read the first quote in my sig by, conveniently, someone who has absolutely zero experience with TC whatsoever.

Simply put, the pros of TC greatly outweigh the cons.
