Why do people seem anxious for you to quit vaping, too?

Lol Amraann. I know she is jelly. Haha jealous of me. She admitted to it. But its no one's business what other people do. She'll get over it. She touches my eGo again and I'll eGo her into next week.

HAHAHHAHAHA!!!!! I knew I liked you!!! Let her have it!

I really dislike ex-smokers who become all holier than though.

To paraphrase I don't know who...

"Most people are idiots and ignorant. They really don't need to open their mouths and prove it."

To the remark of "So, when are you going to quit nicotine?" My quick response is, "When are you going to quit caffeine?"

When you play their caffeine card, it usually ends the argument!!!

Almost everyone I know who knows that I've been doing this instead of analogs for a week has said the same thing: "Congratulations! That's awesome! Because now you can back down on the nicotine until you're not doing that any more, either, right?"

I've finally just taken to saying, "I'm not concerned with quitting nicotine." Because I'm not. And it seems many on this forum have vaped for years and are happy doing it. But people seem disappointed that I am not driving to "really quit" in THEIR eyes.

If I had to tell myself that I needed to cut down and quit THIS too, I'd be very discouraged. Quitting smoking is a VERY BIG DEAL for me, and I'm fine with it. No, more than fine - I'm ecstatic!

Do other people have the same experience with comments from others?

I've gotten the same reactions from co-workers. They really don't think if you vape with nicotine. That your are still smoking. I say to them. Haha yea does it look like I give a damn. At least I'm not putting over 4000 chemicals in my body anymore haha. Don't let these people get to you. They don't understand that this is actually quitting. There's not smoke. Just vapor!!!

I'm at a friends getting a clutch dropped into my stang and this is a long term friend for over 13 years and his gf hates me. She's been a non smoker for ages and is sitting here bashing me every time I vape. Its been a day and a half now and she sits here while smoming het green pipe telling me its all mind set and that I have not truly quit. I'm not one to argue but she drove me nuts and then of all things she grabs an analog from my friend and holds it out to me and takes my eGo from my hand and tells me if I want nicotine to just smoke. I about lost it on her.

If that's you in your avatar, I think she's just really jealous.

One of my co-workers has this quit-quickly-or-die attitude.

I told her that I would quit when she stopped having unprotected sex with our married boss.

She hasn't talked to me since.

Damn Knurled, way to hit a home run lol. I love it!

I get this too. I have only been vaping for a couple weeks. I made a clean break from being a PAD smoker and now I just vape, and the people I live with are always passively making negative comments about it. My favorite: "When i was in college we injected nicotine into chick eggs and all the fetuses died. Nicotine is just as bad." I laughed out loud. Of course injecting liquid nicotine into a developing chick embryo is gonna kill it!

On a serious note, the negativity is wearing me down. I try to just say ".... em" but its hard when its your parents that you live with. Damn I need to move out.....

I say, you don't know what the h*ll you're talking about. IF there are a few harmful chemicals that I inhale when I vape, it is 100% better than smoking a pack a day of Newports with hundreds of harmful chemicals. That being said, most people I know have been very supportive of my switch from analogs to vaping. So I usually tune out the naysayers and do what I feel is best for me.

Analog free since 8/8/13

After a month of vaping I still alternate between 36mg and 24mg .. don't see any reason to cut back as long as I'm enjoying it and not harming anyone else .... even some vapers annoy me when they keep insisting that I'll eventually cut right back on the nic and feel 'so much better' .... I'm feeling great now thanks! I DON'T SMOKE !!! I know they mean well but gimme a break ... it's only a month and already I'm feeling guilty cos I'm 'heavy' on nic ?...:2c:

I carry 2 batteries with full tanks on them all the time.

When people ask, I hold up one of them, and say, "THIS one has no nicotine in it now, in a few months, BOTH of them will have no nicotine in them.". Then I watch for the confused looks when they realize that I have no plans to stop. It just does not compute for them.

What a ridiculous experiment. What was the control? Did they use other substances, i.e. caffeine? I am sure it would be the same result but for some reason caffeine is more accepted by society. All those people lining up at their local coffee shop, no dirty looks there.

Now, dear, let me tell you something, from a 2 years 100% vaper who started with 18 mg nic and has stayed with 18 mg nic:

If you feel good with the 24 and sometimes 36 - if your body feels ok, if you have no longing for tobacco cigarettes, and if vaping that higher nic content keeps you off tobacco cigarettes, then you are doing everything right, and you can be proud of yourself!

And if any vapers tell you otherwise, - while your body feels ok with that nic content - then please tell them to mind their own business.

The important point is that you have been vaping for a month - congratulations! And that you have stopped smoking poisonous tobacco cigarettes - congratulations again! :)

Yes, it is not always easy in the beginning - and vaping a high nic content does make up for the other substances in tobacco smoke which you are no longer consuming. Substances which - when combined with the nicotine - cause the addictive qualities of tobacco cigarettes.

As long as your body feels good, then everything is ok and you are doing everything right!

Vaping is an alternative to tobacco cigarettes. A much less harmful alternative. Approximately 99% less harmful, as a matter of fact. Nowhere is it written that vaping has to lead to total nicotine abstinence. Period. :)
..................

And to those who are constantly being annoyed by silly busybodies:
Whatever happened to just telling busybodies to mind their own business, thank you very much and have a nice day? :sneaky:

All I know is that my wife smoked for 33 years and hasn't touched a cigarette in over 2 months and is at 0 NIC. She feels better and I can kiss her w/o tasting her Virginia slims. I love what the e-cig has done for her. I enjoy some of the flavors myself without NIC every once in a while.
How this could possibly be worse then smoking, I have NO IDEA!
