I plan on quitting vaping too.. more than likely after a few years. I'm already going to work each day without my Nicotine no problem so I know I could quit if I want to and I will because I'm planning on it. Of course everyone is different. I quit the stinkies 3 times before (with each time being a span of 3 years or so) with no help from vaping so I'm pretty sure I've already quit for good. I'm 41 and have been vaping for 4 months and have been cigarette free for almost 2 but of course everyone is going to take to quitting differently.

But for the time being, I'm really enjoying it too much to stop. I consider vaping almost an equivalent to an after dinner mint or a fine after dinner cigar really. Just a time alone to kick back and relax really is all it is to me.

Why do some people think their way is the ONLY way to do things?

It's a normal bias based on the fact that the only reality one can experience is one's own -- it takes a very large person to even acknowledge the reality of other people; it takes a still larger person to realize that the reality of other people may not match one's own. And still larger to allow other people their reality without arguing with them about it. Most people just aren't that large.

I wasn't saying it is healthy to vape or that I recommend it for anyone other then smoker's I was stating my personal position in regards to some who think one should look to quit vaping as we looked to quit smoking. I have always advocated that adults should always research vaping and make the appropriate decision based on what's best for them again personally I think the biggest unknown health wise are flavourings but research is ongoing so time will tell.

I was talking to a co worker of mine and she was talking about how she was using the patch to try to quit but it wasn't working. I suggested vaping and she said that it was crazy because people are just getting addicted to that instead of cigarettes and she wanted to quit completly.

I told her that it was true that some people do seem to depend on it just as much but it did make you feel better. I also told her that I had been vaping for over 3 years and did it because I LIKED it...not because I had to . I enjoyed smoking when I did it but didn't enjoy the coughing and the smell that came with it.

I told her if she did decide that the patch wasn't going to work that she was welcome to ask me any questions but she just rolled her eyes and walked off....oh well....

Terrible. You cannot help everyone. I tried to help my uncle, aunt, and his sister in law. They all said NO firmly, and then started to reel off stories abt the dangers of vaping to me.

It's not by job to save anyone. I like to help people, but if they are obstinate...then I move on.

My dual using self keeps wondering why people feel the need to quit smoking. LOL.

I think smoker's guilt is the reason why 'we' feel that quitting is a good thing. Doesn't help that ANTZ are around to make sure that guilt is propped up and met with propaganda in case anyone chooses to stick to something they actually enjoy doing.

I quit smoking b/c of the nasty results of combustibles and chemicals in my Marlboro Lights, Marlboro Blends, and Marlboro Reds. Every day, in the morning and at least one other time during the day, I was hacking it up big time...and I did not like it at all. Something abt consistently being able to breath made me quit. Not sure what it was ... oh yea. :w00t: Being able to breathe. I'm sort of fond of it.

I use to be an athlete and was very aware of everything I put in to my body. I lifted and played ice hockey until 18, then lifted and bicycle raced until mid 30's. There were many a year where I think I was a rabbit I ate so much lettuce. I ate yoghurt more than a decade before it was in vogue. Willingly!

If I vape like a wild man before bed, the worst that I get is a very little hack of something in the morning. Maybe a pronounced dry mouth and nothing else.

I've been vaping since September 7th, 2015 and for the first time yesterday, got a nicotine buzz in the morning just like I use to with cigarettes. I could not believe it. I was RDAing ~12 mg/ml. I should know exactly, but it could be plus 3pts b/c I added nicotine base to a fav vape of mine for the kick. No harm. No foul.

As far as quitting vaping, I doubt I ever quit vaping. I don't see any downside, and I like nicotine. I'm involved in a hobby that I like and am going to spend a lot of cash over the next few months to see me through the next decade or two.

I applaud anyone who has made the switch from smoking to vaping, and I am not here to come off as judgemental or condescending (I smoked and vaped, and am currently struggling to quit vaping for good). But to assume that vaping is healthy is silly. I always see people defending nicotine and comparing it to caffeine, however it isn't the nicotine that raises most of the health concerns. It's everything else, including PG and VG themselves. Common sense aside (that inhaling large quantities of any aerosol probably isn't great for your lungs...) there is plenty of preliminary data out that suggest long term health implications of vaping (chronic inflammation, constricted airways, immune-supression, ect.).
At this time there is absolutly zero data indicating anything in the juice or in the act of
vaping is causing any harm to any otherwise healthy individual.
WE here do not have to defend anything. There is nothing harming us.

Mike
