Tru'dat. BTW, I really like the pic of the inline dualie with the center positive you posted above in this thread. That's beautiful work. I've built a few of them but I like a very free DL draw and I have never managed to get the air right on that coil set, with both of them on one side of the post. I build singles for the 350 mods-- love me some 350 mod, and I vape low enough watts so 350 batteries are viable-- and put up with the more restricted draw. Perhaps that would be an opportunity to try again.

Thx for the nod. About the most productive powerful wind (output for mass) I've ever done. The first one live at Bruce Schneider's Clouds of Vapor in Boca Raton FL. Their twice monthly open rebuild meet up. It was a spur of the moment thing just before closing. This first build turned into a long term test which lasted over a year…

To give credit where due…it was based on a non-t.m.c. non-counter wound version done by MattyB1503 a year or so earlier on super_X_drifter's original microcoil thread. But strain makes this wind amazing.

I've done sev versions for the Kanger stock coil assy making the ST a flavor vapor powerhouse. It's just too damned hard to take the silly things apart to make them useful to a novice. Sad really and disappointing.

Seems ages since I vaped a cart on a 350. But my pref for Tribeca and it's extraordinary cool shadings. Most lost when you up the power.

I know you prolly understand I don't tell folks what to vape. Just encourage people to mark the crossroads so they can make their way back. It's an awfully big universe out there.

Good luck. :)

Do any of ya'll use kicks?
Nope. Kicks are power limited to about half the watts I like to put on a coil. They'd be a viable option for you if the safety concerns you, though. I don't see any real need for it, myself. At the resistance you like to vape, you're only drawing 3.5A, even with your 1.2Ω coils and a full charge fresh battery. I routinely vape mechs at less than half your resistance and still only load my batteries to less than half their capacity. So long as you test your coils before firing them, I see nothing to worry about. Still, if you are concerned, another viable option is a Gus mod. They have fuses (which is why I won't buy one.)

Bear in mind a kick occupies some of the tube. If you use a kick in an 18650 tube, you can only use an 18500 battery. A kick is about 15mm tall. Somebody-- VapourArt in the GP Paps?-- makes an 18800 tube to accomodate a 650 battery plus a kick. BTW, both Gus and Paps are pricey.

They last, just simple maintenance, and replacement parts, a mech will last forever, especially if you can do the machining of replacement parts yourself.

I like the short battery life, the oddball placement of the switch, the consistant voltage drop, and having to deal with Ohms Law and checking/testing every coil... :)

^^^this

I never liked temp control so I started learning about mechs

There's hundreds if not thousands, but not a beginner's guide or anything like that. We usually take our newbies through the process one at a time. Hhhmmm... perhaps I should write one. Or maybe not. I kinda like feeling sure the person I am talking to has a good grasp on it. You don't get that with a blog post.

So, what do you want to know? Just talk to me or Kpr or Mac or PT or Rydean or any of the mekkies around here.

Yep and for me two other major points -

1. Smoother/better Vape
2. I'm in control/responsible for my own safety, not some chip produced in some sweatshop

Zutankamen, those are gorgeous! I don't see myself ever vaping one, but those are truly pieces of art. :)

Many thanks but...
I've gotta break the news to you. My collection is the bottom picture only :(

I do have more mechs but they're in their box, promise.
I stole that top pic from google

Wait... I mean; "I stole that top pic from google"

Well, I was admiring the bottom pic more, anyway, so well done! I also love your table, I had a checkerboard table at one point, but the kid loved it and stole it from me and the husband when he moved out (we didn't mind as he loved it so much), so now I am checkerboard free, sadly. :)

Back when I used mech mods, it was because it was the only way (at least the only cheap way) to use sub-ohm coils. With today's regulated devices, though, I don't find a need for a mech.

I would consider getting one, though, just because I like the simplicity and the looks. If you're the kind of vaper that uses the same coil, same juice, same topper all the time - a mech can be every bit as good as a regulated device.

One thing I didn't like about mech's back in the day was that I felt the good ones were overpriced and the inexpensive ones were unreasonably crappy. I'm sure that didn't appy to *Every* device and I don't know how it is today .. but I'm pretty darn happy with the single and dual 18650 regulateds out today . .even if I go through a couple a year.
