I've always had mixed feelings about quitting. I've smoked for 11 years, and I have to admit, I love to smoke. I love the flavor, the smell, the actual "act" and sensation of smoking. The only reason I've ever entertained the idea of quitting is purely for health reasons. I also don't want to look 50 when I'm 35-40.

I've never gone longer than a day without a cigarette. It's been 2 days now, and I've thought about smoking but a quick couple vapes from my new personal vaping device, and I forget about smoking. And the taste is awesome. I can't wait to see the effects taking place from quitting cigarettes for good. ;)

sorry, don't know how to edit and had to fix a couple things, ha

I needed to change something. I was feeling so sick and unhealthy but I have a definite oral fixation. The few times I succeeded in quitting for more then a month I gained LOTS of weight. And, I like the way the smoke looks.. I may have a touch of a fetish with curling clouds I exhale. I can get all the pleasure with less personal risk. It's been since January since I switched over and If I can help it I'm NEVER going back.

Hi Red! Smoked for 45 yrs, enjoyed it, never made a heroic effort to quit, and started vaping with no intention to quit, just cut down.

After 2 weeks my analog use was down by half...had my "ah hah" moment that "I can do this!" and set my goals...gave myself 90 days till the end of August to be smokefree.

Now I go days without smoking, but if I want one I have it w/o hesitation/guilt because I know that vaping is a much stronger "habit" for me now than smoking ever was. I'm well ahead of my goals, and I think I'll be an "accidental quitter" that many members talk about.

BTW Red, you have red dirt in Texas? Red dirt here stains everything PERMANENTLY.

Definitely started vaping to quit smoking. I've wanted to quit for quite some time and tried almost everything out there to do so. But when my dad died of esophageal cancer it was a "wakeup" call for me, and I finally found PVs while searching for something I hadn't yet tried. I plan on quitting the nicotine as soon as it's comfortable for me to do so, but don't think I'll ever stop vaping.

On and off smoker for years. Quit originally when pregnant with my first child, many years ago. I used to be an occassional smoker, only bumming from my smoking friends when they had a cig. , and never buying.

My friends were astonished that I could go for weeks and not smoke, but when they were around, or I was drinking, I would smoke. They used to say to me, "if we could smoke occasionally like you, we would not have a problem."

Not they have all stopped smoking, and I picked the habit up again. Mainly due to stresses in my life related to my DH's illness. But that is really not a good excuse.

I was still a 1/2 pack a day smoker, but found myself unable to stop. This was different from before when I could stop anytime I wanted and pick it up again occassionally. I saw what I now know was an addiction.

So I tried vaping. This is great! I love it. I love the taste, the flavors, the healthy benefits, and all of the other benefits with vaping. I can vape inside. I can vape in the car and my DH can't smell anything. It is so cool. As long as there are no real health risks, which I am reading and learning there are NOT, I will keep vaping.

I am learning a lot and watchful for when they find some health concerns, but I hope this does not happen.

A guy at work ordered one and I thought "That's not a bad idea" but never got around to trying it.

Then, I recently decided to take some vacation time and visit my brother and grandma in California. Unfortunately (for me) my nephew is VERY allergic to cigarette smoke. Can't even be around someone who has recently smoked or he gets sick. So even the "I'll just smoke outside" thing wouldn't work.

I've quit before lots of times (It's easy!) ;) But the patches, gums, lozenges and all just didn't do it for me. I needed the actual "smoking" part as well as the nicotine.

So.... I decided to give the e-cig a try, since there would be no problems with his allergies/asthma. Been off analog cigarettes (I love that term!) for a week now and just vaping. I have some prefilled cartridges and got some 0mg nicotine juice in the mail today.

Been doing the 0mg all day and haven't had a craving yet. Strange indeed! :)

So it works out best for me with vaping and it's about half the cost of my regular cigs as well.

Pretty much the same story here. Smoked for 40 years, quit a couple of times, once for 2 1/2 years and went back. The E-cig allowed me to harness the will power over tobacco. I'm going on 4 weeks now and still smoke an analog after a meal and they always taste nasty. There is, however, something besides nicotine that makes me want one here and there. I do know that I will eventually drop them altogether.

My e-cig tastes better and is just as satisfying (well, almost) as a tobacco cig. It's amazing that even after a meal, my wife will light up and offer me one after I've hit the E-cig a couple of times. Sometimes I just don't care for one and she is amazed at that. Fact is, that I am also weaning myself from the MAOI content of tobacco. According to research I have read, tobacco provides MAO B to our brains that causes the brain to create dopamine, the "feel good" drug. This link explains it and should be a must read for all of us... This is your brain on nicotine

As a former 2 pack a day smoker, in 4 weeks I have NOT smoked 980 tobacco cigs since I started vaping. That is incredible! Yes, E-cigs work...

..Just curious why people vape. Do you do it to stop smoking, or do you do it for the pure pleasure of vaping?

In the beginning, only to cut down... I really enjoyed smoking. Now I vape because I enjoy vaping.

I am aware that one of the "side-effects" of continued vaping is you eventually come down with a condition known as smokefree, which automatically happens in the absence effort, stress and pain. LOL

Really!

I started vaping for several reasons;
1. My health and the health of others around me.
2. Control the nicotine intake and be able to reduce it gradually to 0 mg.
3. Still have the hand, mouth and TH action.
4. To get away from the cigarette smell.
5. So many flavors :D
6. There's lots of toys :D

I have to say- vaping is a godsend.

I'm a three pack a day smoker, and my attempts to quit have all failed. Vaping is adding years to my life.

I've only been doing one or two analogs a day for three weeks. And today I just decided to not buy another pack since I didn't *want* any.

I'm done... I'm free. I took the $600.00 I would have spent on cigs this month and bought a lot of vaping equipment and enough carts and juice to go for a couple of months.
