Why Don't We See Advertising / Infomercials Yet .. ??

A a business owner for 35 years, never have I ever seen a product that has such obvious appeal not yet being properly marketed .. companies crank out an infomercial on anything that folks can come up with, some products that are nothing but junk ..

Yet, here we have a device that actually works, could be beneficial for a large number of folks (millions) .. and if properly presented, could make an absolute ton of money ..

So, given that, why have we not yet seen a large scale selling attempt by anyone .. ??

If it's not illegal or regulated, and sellers of hardware and liquid have sprung up all over the USA .. I don't know if the FDA could do anything about it ..

I believe it has to do with the FDA regulating them as tobacco products. That is the one downside where the e-cig industry shot themselves in the foot when winning not having to be monitored as a drug delivery device.

You cannot legally advertise tobacco products, AFAIK.

I posted in the other thread about this, thought I'd post it here. I've seen 2 different commercials here for e-cigs (can't remember what either were called) Problem is that one of them shows a guy vaping inside and a waitress comes up to him and shakes her head no and points outside and he gives her a crappy look and puts it up to the palm of his hands a couple times to show it's not a cigarette. I just think that gives people the idea that if they start vaping they will be able to do it anywhere. I wish a good pv company would do one but without making it look like you can just use them anywhere. We don't need more stories like the one of the guy on the plane!

Id rather not see advertising due to increased activity from the fda. That's just me. I can see where your coming from wondering why there is no advertising. Ecf is all I need though as far as knowing what is out there.

On the other hand, while I'm thinking about it. Maybe it would be good to market them in commercials. I would like to not be the only one that using an electronic cigarette around here. Maybe someday it would be 100% socially acceptable

I agree it's a two edged sword .. however, if they are to become socially acceptable, advertising can do that ..

ok if it's not due to FDA than probably money? It would cost a bunch for a small e-cig company to advertise their products on national TV. Another reason could be Cigarette advertisement is not legal right? so how to promote your e-cig without showing some cig smoking first? Idk I probably make no sense I just try to come up with something. lol
