Need someone to get Hxx themselves to do a side by side comparison between an analogue and an E-Cigg and if they are not corrupt, we will have a definite study to show that E-Cigg is safer than tobacco.

To do this, one must have the means to do so. And it usually means paying for a test research and such. Given that E-cigs are already banned in Singapore, which respectable person with good, deep pockets would want to volunteer to pay for the testing? Certainly not OUR Guv.

The fight for free vaping has always been and is still on, even in the states and Europe.

We look at the other side of the fence and all we see is vape shops full of shiny bling bling stuff.... Go to the CASAA website and see the legislature history they've put together. Germany, UK, US, Hongkong, Argentina, Jordan, Brazil, Thailand, Netherlands are just some of the countries that tried to ban/ regulate vaping. And some of them are successful, some of their cases fell like a house of cards.

Our Guv is much less receptive of the peoples' opinion...... why are we considered democracy in the first place? I personally believe it will be a truly uphill climb.

If I don't have to go to jail or be punished for voicing my opinions, well that's ok. Our history begs me to be careful.

We have never been and never will be a democracy. Just because there are elections doesn't mean it is a democracy.

Even North Korea has got elections.

And that is the sad truth, any opinion you voice that is against "their" law, you will be punished.

Until the time comes where we can actually speak freely without fear of being hunted down, we would just have to lay low or find another way to get our message through about having the government actually look into the possibility of doing some actual research into vaping.

True true, we were more or less refered to as a "central socialist society".

BUT:

We the citizens of ++++++

TO BUILD A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY.
Based on justice and equality.
+++++

Seems like we are behind by 50 years.

To push forward a change in the law, we need support: money and people. We need a lobbying plan, a feasible alternative to what is currently in force.

The guv is not gonna say "Oh! So we were wrong. Free vaping from now on." They are going to raise all the cons like
1) Young people getting encouraged to vape.
2) Taxation issues.
3) Nic control issues.
4) Substance abuse issues.
5) Image and advertising issues.
And etc.

On top of that, we have to rely upon ourselves to procure medial and scientific research results, vaping statistics as opposed to analog statistics. We might have to hire an independant 3rd party research facility for the test results.

If we can meet all the above issues in force, we will be at least minimally ready. IMHO, its the job of a small army we are talking about.

All these issue can be handled. It's just a matter of "want or don't want" only.
See my views in blue.

1) Young people getting encouraged to vape.
Regulate like adult novelty (sex toys) shop. Entry and sale, only for above 21.

2) Taxation issues.
Create a new tax for the liquid but make it much cheaper than tobacco, to entice analogs to switch to the much safer vaping.

3) Nic control issues.
Create a law that allows only certified supplier to be able to import Nic. Get H** dogs to monitor and regulate. Other harmful but useful stuff have been imported on a daily basis, using this method. And is still being practiced now.

4) Substance abuse issues.
Vaping is not the only stuff that people abuse. Regulate and monitor it like glue. IC verification and record for every purchase

5) Image and advertising issues.
Same as analogs, no advertisement. On analogs pack, put a new sticker, "Have you considered vaping?'

And etc.

IMO, you guys are missing the woods for the trees. It is never about taxation or the loss of tax revenue. Tobacco tax accounts for only roughly 2% of total government tax revenue. Yes, it still accounts for 900+ million SGD but in this context you have to look at the percentage instead of the absolute amount.

SG has been marketing herself as a hub for biomed industry and if vaping is legalised, the biomed companies will be the hardest hit. They would lose a large bulk revenue from selling drugs to treat tobacco related illnesses, smoking cessation products, cancers & etc. When these companies lose too much money they will shift to place more favorable and that translates into a loss of income for the government. And this is the impact which would occur 3-5 years after vaping is legalised.

On the point about hiring scientific research, since the advent of ecigs 10 years ago, there were no proven reports of ecigs causing terminal illness whereas in the same period, millions have died due to tobacco usage. I hope we don't take another 10 years to prove that vaping reduces harm caused by tobacco like in the case of Snus.

You just have to dig deeper and derive your own conclusions. Many data are publicly available and believe it or not Singstats have a revenie category wholly dedicated to biomed. All roads lead to Rome my friend.

A conspiracist would say government wants people to fall sick so we'll be forced to make Medisave withdrawals to pay for hospital bills. Then maybe sell flat sell father sell mother sell wife sell backside.
