The original delivery method - tobacco (smoking or chewing) is the culprit here, not necessarily nicotine. Just finished reading about the many health benefits of nicotine actually. Is nicotine dangerous? Absolutely (in large doses). Addictive? Sure. But for some so is coffee, gambling, alcohol, sex, the internet, and on and on.

And I may be in the small minority of folks that might actually welcome FDA regulation of nicotine content and the colorings and flavors that are used in ejuice as long as they exclude "vaping" from tobacco regulation and taxation.

Think about it... When you have a headache and reach for the aspirin you are more than likely confident that the pill that you ingest is pure and in exactly the right dose. Why should this be any different? Are nicotine patches and gum subject to these same laws (bans) and taxes?

I quit smoking cigarettes 12 years ago and I enjoy vaping (0 mg) quite a bit. My Wife still smokes analogs and is trying to convert to liquid. Gum, patches, and pills did not work for her. At least this has allowed her to cut back. Every cigarette she does not smoke is a win in my book.

I think at some point, perhaps when the mainstream technology has advanced enough (i.e., few to no cigalikes sold.. NJOY & blu are each already coming out with an eGo/tank/juice kit!), and/or vaping far outpaces combustible cigarette use in the general population, then I think the term "e-cig" will probably fade away...

Perhaps we should all do our part in help speeding it along, and get as many smokers as possible switched over to vaping.. :D

I call mine my vape. If people ask, I explain it as a vaporizer and its uses. I live in CO though so here there are few odd looks to the question "You could smoke ____ out of that huh?" I see the Vuse, Blu, ect, as "E-cigarettes" and PVs as Vapes as they serve much more of a variable purpose than the former. It is up to each of us to educate those that are interested or naive, and display tact with those anti-vapers who want to see us stopped. We must make our own name and face for this movement, and I for one would love to see a face of understanding and respect.

I love that since I don't use cigalikes my mods frequently open dialogues about vaping and what it really is.
Any opportunity to educate and dispel myths about vaping is a win imo.

I am also in Colorado and the assumption that we run around stoned and toting a .... around is hysterical.

I hope in my lifetime that PV becomes a more recognized name for what we use. I also hope that it remains a viable alternative to smoking. That is what I am fighting for at the moment, keeping these things available for me and all the other vapers. Also for those that want to quit smoking.
This, right here, is the core of the matter in my opinion. It embodies the most important aspects of the activity we call "vaping", and it illustrates precisely why we seek to protect them.

Well written, Robin. :thumb:
