2 words. dry burn. the burnt taste is from the build up on the coil. no amount of rinsing will get it off. the only options are something like a sonic cleaner or just dry burn it off. I'm surprised you haven't come across info about it before. I learned how to dry burn my first week on ecf and it has always worked for me.

I gave up on e-cigarettes after that. I figured I wasn't saving any money because the cartomizers were only good for a few refills before they started tasting foul. I figured e-cigarettes were just an online gimmick and not a legitimate alternative to smoking cigarettes. I was mad about all the money I spent on my supplies. I threw everything in the trash.

The thing you seem to be missing here is that cartomizers and atomizers are disposable. They are not meant to last. It's like saying that you bought a pack of cigarettes, and you have to keep buying more because they all burn up...
I use Boge 2.0 cartomizers myself, they cost under $2 each and last 3 to 5 days for me depending on what juice I use in them. I vape about 2 to 3ml of juice a day. So vaping costs me about $16 to $18 a week. As opposed to the $50-$60 a week I was spending on cigarettes...
Then add in the health benefits, and it's pretty clear which is the better choice.

Hey, I just wanted to say that unlike a lot of others it took me 6 months to finally quit. Even with the Joye 510 PV that I have. What really made the difference is the new 510 Low Resistance atomizers. Vaping at higher voltages or simulated higher voltages makes all the difference.

Plus, I figured out that I wasn't dripping nearly enough before. With a regular atty you have to drip like every 6-10 puffs or so. More than that with an LR atty. Before I was being cheap with my fluid, and I wasn't getting enough nicotine. So, I kept getting cravings and wasn't satisfied.

Buy yourself a drip tip and try dripping. With everything I've read on here so far, I'm afraid to try cartos when dripping is so easy. Also, I don't want to start all over again to give tanks a try. Fortunately, they now have 510-T atomizers and tanks which are compatible with all the gear I already have. So, might give that a try.

I spent a ton of money gearing up to totally quit this month, but now that I'm up to speed. I plan on only spending around $30 a month for supplies. Enough for a 50ml bottle of juice from madvapes and buying a few extra attys or batteries occasionally. Right now batteries have lasted me several months and attys have too. So, I don't plan on really needing to spend a lot.

Compare that to the $120-$150 I was spending on analogs a month, and there is no going back.

One last thing, don't skimp on juice. Get yourself some flavors you'll really enjoy. Gourmet Vapor is having a big 50% off sale this month. Check it out everyone! I just love their juice. Enter coupon code "giveme50" at checkout, and it will automatically adjust the charges.

I ordered a new pack of CE2 Cartomizers from a different reseller and was back in vapor heaven. This time around, I was very careful not to let the cartomizers tank get empty. I kept them topped off with e-liquid for fear that the burnt taste would return. Sure enough, it did. Even after I was so careful not to let them burn dry.
You're on the right track there. If you'd followed that path to high cap tank mods like the MAP and Stormy's and just did a short bit of daily maintenance, you'd be in vaping heaven. Tank mods like these allow you to easily access the CE2's wick and coils, a feature key to extended flavorful vaping. After disassembly, a thorough rinse in warm water and a paper towel pat down to dry, carefully pulling and twisting the wick from one end until the dark colored "burned" portion of the wick is out of the cup, leaving the coils in contact with a fresh, white colored section of the wick. After this do a dry burn and reassemble and you're good to fill and vape.

Dude, or Madam, whatever the case me be. I'm a newby to this so I can't give you advice about the burning taste but do the math. You say you've spent $700 bucks. That's 100 days if your smoking a pack a day at an average price of $7.00 per pack. My wife's cigs (she has not quit yet) cost $8.20 per pack. Think of medical bills if you want another perspective. One smoking related illness could cost mega$$$$$$. Not to mention your life. That burnt atty taste is nothing like the burnt cigarette taste you get with every cigarette to me. Wish I could offer you a solution instead of a rant. Just my two cents.

I watched my mom die from lung cancer. I smoked for 42 years......2 cartons every 9-10 days. ($95.00) When my cough started sounding like my mom's, that got my attention. Don't get me wrong....I loved smoking and was extremely protective of my habit. You start fussing at me, my claws would come out and depending on my mood, I might let someone off with a warning. It was my life and my choice, for crying out loud! Leave me alone. Then I realized I was out of control. I have left the burn spots on my carpets by my bed to make me remember. It was only by the Grace of God that I didn't burn down the house and everyone in it. I was out of control, and I couldn't stop myself. I called out to God for His help.....for the very first time in 42 years. The awareness of e-cigs were around the corner. I thought it would help me cut down. I quit tobacco last July! Have I looked back? Sure. Tobacco was my 'friend' for 42 years. It still looks good on tv from time to time, and I recommit myself. It wasn't the money that shocked me, it was the amount of tobacco I was smoking that made my jaw drop to the floor. I'm close to 14,000 not smoked. I had no idea it was that much. I use a 3 piece Joye 510. I buy e-juice and fill the tips. I have saved mega money, and haven't had bronchitis since I quit. Unfortunately, I do have springtime allergies! So, I'm still coughing occasionally.:p I really wish you well! :)

10,800 plus a year.......... I dont care about the money as much as the STOPPING of the smokes. I read somewhere that analogs create 4000-8000 chemical combinations when burning....... holy almighty! Also, buying the gear and such is so much fun that it seems like someone is going to come along and tell me this is all a dream. About the only bad part is waiting on an order to ship. This has been the best move of my adult life. Thanks for being here all of you forum members!

I would not advise anything to a newbie other than a 510 carto kit. The key to any carto is to fill it and let it wick (soak) up some juice prior to using. Otherwise you will get the nasty burnt taste with it too. For anyone new to ecigs that may be reading this, learn from everyone elses money spent (wasted) and get boge carto's from the start! Keep it wet and enjoy your new toy!

Between my hubby and myself we spent on average 8K per year on smoking analogs - so even at 2.00 for a cartomizer every few days, it sure beats the heck out of 5.50 - 7.50 per day (x 2) - 90+ days here - and I quickly moved to dripping, because I like it better. I clean my atomizers w/ vodka when they start tasting nasty, and they taste better after that. I spend about $100 a month on supplies and juices for TWO people - and that is compared to at minimum $330 per month for analogs. But - it's not about saving money.... PERIOD!

My hubby has asthma, and even after only 2 weeks we saw a difference - he WAS using his rescue inhaler 5-15x per day..... and for TWO WEEKS - he DIDN'T use it attttt allllll. He does use it occasionally, but he was going through an inhaler per week - Now, you have to understand - my hubby's asthma is something that we've been dealing with for our entire marriage, we go to the hospital usually at least one time per year, because he'll just STOP BREATHING - so for someone like that to STOP using his inhaler almost completely.... I think that is a miracle!!!!

The stories of how vaping has improved people's health are all over the boards - THIS should be the reason you want to quit smoking - because burning and inhaling 4000 chemicals a day isn't good for you - and is killing you.

I am a patient person and feel like once I get the hang of it I might be able to kick the analog habit. Thanks to everyone on here for giving great advice.

WOW, Anna! That IS a MIRACLE!! I am so excited for both of you!!!!!!!:thumbs: (That's one for each of you!)

I'm the person who after laying down the killer sticks, wanted to see what a smoker's lung looked like. I guess what made my stomach flip flop was the demonstration of someone taking like a gallon of thick bbq sauce and pouring it over two healthy lungs. They stated that it was equal to a year's worth of tar coating your lungs. That shocked me and made an impact on me at the same time.....and that wasn't counting the 4000 carcinegins. (sp)

My husband had quit cold turkey in 2005. Look at my sig line and see what I think about that. BUT, a week ago, at my doctor's, my O2 sat level (oxygen level in the bloodstream) after 42 years of smoking was 98%. I was shocked. I almost fell out of my chair! That is a miracle, and yes, I DO BELIEVE in miracles! They happen everyday.:) This website helped me so much, and I'm not so sure that I would have been successful if they were not here. Be careful, though.......this site is addictive!

WTG, Anna! WTG! That is just too cool!:2cool:

Herdfan<I personally see nothing wrong with you starting with a REO as long as the lack of "cig" look is not going to hender your quitting. For a lot of folks (me included) I needed the look and feel of a cig at first. Then I move on to larger devices. Otherwise, if you have read until your eyes bleed and if you have decided on the REO at your first post you have, then go for it.

I am biased, but I think it's a great idea. If you decide vaping is not for you, you can sell it in the classified here for what you paid for it.

You can get lots of good information here: Reos Mods

I started on a Riva, as recommended here, and I am grateful for that advice. I learned all the how to things with it and that I liked cartomizers above cartridges or dripping, but there's no reason you can't do that with a REO, and there's really no way to do anything wrong to it because it's all mechanical.

You will need batteries, a charger, and either atomizers + drip tip or cartomizers (plus juice of course).

If your hubby isn't already taking symbicort, get him to ask his doctor about it and try it if suitable - My partner and I both have asthma and I took part in the clinical trials for symbicort, I suggested it to my partner when we got together and it has changed her life. I never hear her wheezing at night (it used to be like sleeping through a storm in a tent). She still smokes though :(

Don't even think about 'kicking the habit' - let it surprise you when it happens all by itself! I smoked for 17yrs without a single week off the fags ever, and then my riva 901 held my hand and guided me away from cigarettes and I never ever even felt like I was quitting. No withdrawels, no panic, no stress. The only single thing I felt was the weird sensation of going into shops and asking for cigarettes on auto-pilot - but that was immediately resolved by my look of glee as I then told the shopkeeper sorry that was a habitual mistake and actually I don't need them, I've quit!

Good luck in your journey and to all a happy vape!

Great choice. You will get to "skip" all the hassles and go straight to something that works like a charm! I vaped for almost a year on lots and lots of different combinations before I discovered the REO.....now it's the ONLY thing I'll ever need. You'll be saving LOTS of money in the long run, too. Be sure to visit the Reos mods forum and introduce yourself.

Thanks for all the responses. This forum seems super friendly and I will be heading over to the reo forum to introduce myself once i start vaping. I did read till my eyes bled and I think thats a good analogy, but I was sold on the product by all the great reviews and most importantly this forum. I have found that great support forums make for great product experiences and I look forward to starting this journey. Enjoy your day.
