Why is there a lack of Lavatube love?

I was just wondering why you hear so little about the Lavatube v2.5 around here. Granted it's a bit more pricy than most of the other Chinese APVs, but then it does come with a one year warranty. Not having a warranty seems to be an issue with many, myself included, so why isn't it more popular? Are there issues with the unit or Volcano Electronic Cigarettes? Is it just a Vamo in a new shell (not sure where the chip is sourced)?

I knew that, but there's not much activity on it either and the Lavatube doesn't get many suggestions when people are asking about "what APV they should get" like other models do on the general forums.

Seems to be a 33hz PWM chip same as the Vamo and many other cheaper chinese devices, so i guess they don't get much recommendation due to being nearly twice the price of a Vamo, SVD, or MVP 2.0 (not PWM) with almost identical performance.

Also the lavatube only seems to support 18650's, where an svd or vamo will support both 18350 and 18650.

I loved it for awhile but it is top-heavy (falls out of pockets) and the bottom battery-cover broke off and had to be reglued or I'd have to use pliers to unscrew the cover to replace the battery. The color is coming off the button and the top and bottom decorative indentations.

I still use it for a backup. I wish either the Gripper was stronger or the Itaste VTR was lighter or did'n't require reading 8 pages of directions. Since my second Gripper has broken, guess it's time to read the Great American Novel and lifting weights. The LT will still be my backup, both take 18650's.

If it dies, dunno what I'll do for backup. It's not showing signs of dying, so it may always be a moot point.

it's way overpriced.

that aside, i love the one i got for $15 on blowout a few months ago. flawless performance but i dare not abuse it in any way.

I like the LavaTube, and if I was in the market for an attractive, sturdy, 33.3hz tube mod I'd probably pick one up but:

a) Equivalent performance is cheaper in the Chinese mods
b) *much* cheaper from FastTech
c) 33.3's are more 'workhorses' than desirables such as the ProVari and DNA 20 devices
d) Innokin are knocking it out of the park atm in terms of choice and quality of low-budget PVs

There's aesthetic factors too - the LavaTube, whilst solidly built is considerably bigger some of its rivals which some people don't like. That said, I absolutely think the LavaTube is a great-looking, solid tube mod - it just has so much competition at lower prices.

My wife and I love the Volcano LavaTube V2.5. Yes it is pricey but the warranty, the service from our local B&M as well as the online site, plus the new colors is what we love about them. I am willing to pay whatever price so that my wife never smokes another cig again. Trust me when I say that vaping has saved her life.

Yes they were. I'm loving mine so much I made a thread "props to the old school lava tubes" but nobody cared.

Sneaker, funny thing is after we ordered them the website went down and hasn't come back since, haha. Best deal I have ever gotten thanks to you my friend.

Right now I am vaping a Lavatube 2.5 and loving it. Finding the Volcano store ( B&M ) local, and getting hands on help led me to quit smoking ( 2-1/2 PAD for 32+ years), so I do have a little brand/store loyalty there. It is my go to device when at home, But, since August of last year I am on my second replacement under warranty. Both previous units were 2.0 Lavatubes. So for me it seems it was money well spent, I've still got lots of warranty time left ;) But with a track record like that I would have a hard time giving a solid recommendation to a friend to buy one with my own personal experience so far...but I would give a recommendation with informed caution on them.
The one feature that I appreciate about them is the scroll up and scroll down function with two separate buttons, verses clicking all the way thru to lower the power setting. I don't understand why so many others require all those tedious clicks to lower the power a bit instead of just adding another switch?
