Why Not Water?

I'm wondering why e-juice isn't made with water? We do not yet know the effects of inhaling PG or glycerin so why aren't the liquids made with a water base?

We obviously know the effects of inhaling nicotine into our bodies, and steam produced from water. So does anyone know why this couldn't be done? I have a friend (owns an online store) who sent me some nic liquid, PG and flavoring to play around with, yet I have not tried a water base. Although PG does not seem to be too much thicker than water. Is it simply because water is too thin or doesn't hold the flavoring well because of being thin?

Just wondering.....

I'm not sure why you think the effects of inhaling PG is an unknown but you know a mix of PG & VG is the liquid used on fog machines and we don't hear about cases of rock star lung being hyped. Look up some of the resources here.

On to the real question, water as a juice base.

Water vapor is pretty hard to see. Anyone who's gone through a summer with 80%-100% humidity can attest to that, so little visual feedback. No biggie really.

Do you know what happens to water that has been warmed and left in the open for hours? Right, it will serve as a great host for tiny growing things. Some of these things make people sick. Yep, it gets germy.

What happens to PG or VG in the same case, not as much. Heck PG is considered a sterilizing agent by some. (It's not, but bacteria have a devil of a time growing in it.). VG is not quite as good, but it's much better than water.

And, you've noticed the viscosity issue. The atty needs a very small quantity if liquid to boil it right. Give it too much and... Well, you know how well a flooded atty works. So thinner fluids will flow faster.

Yes, an atty gets hot enough to boil water, small quantities, but you'd have a hard time making a pot of tea with it.

It's really about the flow and visual, but the growth medium would be a concern for some.

I would assume that a 6 volt device could in fact, turn water into steam, however you make a very valid point about bacteria growth. Kinda duh-duh, though I hadn't considered it. Didn't know that about fog machines, I always assumed dry ice was used. Although something could be said regarding rock stars' lung HA HA! Who would even look for PG in a rock star amongst all the other ingredients floating around there?

I had considered making a tiny batch with water just to see what might happen but bacteria could become an issue, and I live in Texas so my gadget stays warm whether I'm vaping or not. Water sitting and being warm....nah, don't think I want any mildew in my vaping experience. I quit smoking to cut down on chemicals!

We do not yet know the effects of inhaling PG .....

Except that neutralizers, and inhalers use them as a carrier for the medicines and have been for many years..

and to the original post, if you boil water and its in a standard atty, it would be really hot to in hail into your lungs, (ouch) what an inch to cool down
before inhalation.

Shadow.
