You can talk about build quality till you're blue in the face but many won't really understand why it's worth paying a little more for until they hold one and vape on it.
Not to trash the stuff coming out of China (it is improving), but my Provari is one of the few things that has lived up to the hype. For me it was worth every penny.

It's made in the USA and built of very high quality materials. Also very accurate when measuring the actual voltage output compared to similar MOD's.
Waiting on a second one as we speak!
I have never held one but this is the main reason why I want and will be getting one in the near future. Who knows I may not like it but to get accurate readings to enhance my vaping experience, I am willing to try.
Considering the cost? Yes it's expensive but if it performs like they say and all the rave to I will save by not wasting on other mods that I'm not satisfied with.
Since you mentioned the EVIC, lets say for the sake of argument that it performed just as good.

I'm tracking mine over time. Has worked perfect everyday and the average daily cost to own is .36 cents. I like to add its the liquids that cost the money. Started DIYing in January and that cost is way down now.
I think that's part of the magic of a Provari, I think deep down we all think that something so hyped cant be that good. For the price it's only natural that you would worry that it won't live up to your expectations. But as soon as you unwrap it from it's cocoon of bubble wrap, it's pure magic. After five minutes with my mini, I felt like I got a bargain. Honestly for the build quality, quality of vape and customer service I think they are about as cheap as they can be.
My boyfriend was very satisfied with his ego spinners (I too loved them before buying a Provari). I bought it as a surprise gift to him since he works at an ecig shop that sells them. He agrees now with my opinion that the spinners were (eventually) disposable as opposed to the Provari which you just replaced the battery when it had been all charged out.
You really don't understand the difference until you try one out and give it a full run.
It is solidly built, very easy to use, performs consistently, and if it breaks I can contact Provape and pay a small fee to have it fixed. You can also pay a small fee to upgrade to the newest version which I think is very cool. It also comes with a 1 year warranty. For the money I am very satisfied and feel I have a full time vaping partner (my Provari) that I can count on. It performs 100% of the time exactly how I want it to.

Oh man, you really do love your Provari or live in a world that I know nothing about. I have a Provari but I have never given it as much thought as you have. It's an awesome device and my favorite above all. That's about all I can come up with.

We live in an age of cheap massed produced garbage, we as a culture have forgotten what quality hand made and built with care mean. Look at Cell phones, It's like what, 6 months between new Droid phone releases? Nothing is built to last anymore, and why should it be? A company produces a product that is designed to wow not to last, they convince us we can't live with out it and then they got us. When something comes along that's built to last, made with an obvious eye towards quality and be just as valid two years down the road as the day it was released, it takes us all by surprise. You can just hold one and know that Provape's business plan isn't to nickel and dime us to death over time, but to build a strong and loyal customer base that will keep us coming back for more. Sometimes that loyalty dips into the realm of cultism, but hey it's been working for Apple for years. It is very rare in this day in age to get true value and a good return for our hard earned money. Think about it, How many times have you seen a post like " Wow Just got my new Provari, can't wait to get another!".

All high end APV's are more expensive because of quality, long usability, reliability. Have you checked out prices on a VV Reo grand or a GG? Provari is not the highest. Once you have one it will last a very very long time. bnrk
