It may be the difference in battery chemistry?

The AW is an IMR chemistry, while the eGo is a LiPo chemistry.

Also, compare the physical size of the two batteries. The eGo's physical dimensions allow for more chemical volume than the smaller IMR battery.

I should have asked are you pulling the same amps from both batteries with your choice of juice attachments? The ZMax may be drawing more power from the battery than the eGo does (ZMax is less power efficient).

I recently bought an 18350 battery to use in my new Sigelei ZMAX unit.
It is an 800mah AW IMR battery.

It doesn't last nearly as long as my 650mah Ego Twists always do.

Why?

my guess based on that thoroughly detailed description
is you are using the zmax at a higher wattage than what is happening on your twist

Twist generally set to around 4.6 volts.
ZMAX set to 9.5 watts.

Consider a 510 atomizer to be at around 2.2 ohms.
This one is 2.1 ohms right now according to my ZMAX.

So yeah, same wattage.

My guess is that the 18350 battery I just bought is about 5 years old.
The "new" AW 800 mah 18350 batteries were introduced in 2015. They have a distinctive 1/3 black ring on the bottom of the battery. They also have the silver hologram AW sticker.

The original 18350 AW IMR was only a 700mah 6Amp CDR. It had the black AW sticker.

90% eficiency (roughly)

Are you Counting number of Draws - length of Draws in comparison?

Have you Charged the Battery several times and reached peak performance?

Is the zMAX (v)Cutoff the Same as the Twist (v)Cutoff?

Inquiring minds

We need more details. Type of charger? What kind of service feeds into the house (solar and wind can throw a battery off)? 110 or 220 outlet? Ambient temperature of the room and the battery? Are you charging it all the way (A charger isn't like a microwave, it takes time)? Did you read the instructions on the Zmax? Do you live close to a cell tower? Date of last menstrual cycle in the home? Do you own a cat? I hate it when noobs come in and don't give us all the info we need to problem solve. You know better DC!

Well, so much for that theory then.
That is definitely the one that I have.

Length of draws are pretty much the same.
If anything, they MIGHT be a little shorter on the ZMAX but probably not.
Have you Charged the Battery several times and reached peak performance?
I don't know what that means as far as reaching peak performance.
But I have only charged the 18350 about six times now.

It seems to be getting worse, as today it only lasted a few hours.
And in fact I just finished recharging it a second time.

My Twists generally last all day except for unusual circumstances of high usage.

I'm not sure of the cutoff points as I really never hit cutoff on either device.

What then are you using to Determine - Not lasting? Flavor Drop off?

I've used several Brands of 18350 Batteries. Unusual things I have noticed:
Higher Drain 800mAh - Last longer in Mechanical mods
Lower drain 1200mAh - Last much longer in Regulated Mods
*We are only talking about 2-3 amps and not pushing to limits.

There is also the limited possibility you simply have a defective cell. It happens, even with the best of brands.

As to Charge cycles - Most new batteries have to be cycled several times before establishing their full Charge cap and drain level. 4-6 is plenty.
What is worse is some lesser design mods have issues with sinking to true battery level. I've been through that with a few earlier Regulated mods. A few battery removals and restarts usually correct the problem.

Also consider excessive drain due to possible poor contact. A Regulated mod(PWM) will quickly draw down a battery trying to maintain correct output with a weak connection. Vape will drop off even with some decent charge available.
I clean with alcohol and on occasion a fine sandpaper.
