You had to go and do it, Didn't ya? LOL

Iv'e been talking myself out of doing my E-2, dc. Dutch oven with gauze. These single coil gauze wicks are already guzzling more fuel than A Walter snow fighter that gets less than 1 mile a gallon. I'll have to buy my juice by the 5 gallon bucket.LOL

Nice job on the DC. I think we are gonna have to add another spec to Vapor, Taste and TH..........MPG :):)

Too soon to give any meaningful numbers, but I'm sure its sucking both juice and batteries like crazy. BUT! Every draw is a mouthful. I'm usually a chainvaper, and this thing slowed me down a bit :)

Hi all. Just wanted to thank you all for this awesome thread. A few questions. Has anyone used cotton gauze in a gtank? I have both the original and US and and LV. Just curious if the juice on top Genisis styles work with this also.

Secondly, I can't find gauze anywhere. I see the gauze pads but they also contain Rayon and Polyester so far. Can you all provide a pic or two of the gauze your using. It appears much looser and not sewn together correct?

Lastly, can I try a cotton ball instead? Is it the most similar to gauze (vs string, thread, rope, etc.)?

I recently posted my experience with cotton and the gtank on http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/293285-g-tank-us-co-op-support-thread-part-2-a-58.html. Go back or page or so for more info. Short of it is that it works way better to me than the mesh. Maybe I'm not making the perfect ss mesh wick but as many as I've tried, I'll go with the simplicity of the gauze. YMMV.

Ok, we've gone from cotton wick, to using cotton ball wicks...and now "Bunny Balls"...come on!, pretty tough to be talking to my vaping buddies, ya, I'm running a couple 4000mAh MNKE IMR-26650 in series reg'd with a tact switched OKR 6T through 16 awg silver powering my long mode Ody...that has a "bunny Ball" wick in it...

I'm a guy, "Bunny Ball" wicks is not cool perlion

Here's one of my SS Lines on cotton gauze...vaping on it solid since this morning (about 5 ml)

2012-05-31 19.59.30.jpg

SS Lines only hold 2.6 ml, I can't keep juice in it, it vapes, well, we all know how it vapes but I kept my other Line running mesh with the same coil, same juice...taste test (totally subjective of course)

Mesh taste is bright, clear, cotton is more earthy, more savoury
Mesh TH is more at the back of the throat, cotton TH is more lung (like a cigarette)
Vape is the same
MPG, mesh gets better gas mileage by about 1.5x...cotton Line is a pig.

conclusion, I think it really depends on the juice you are vaping, this is a DIY Juicey Peach (TPA) 70/30 10mg. With this light fruit flavour I have to go with the mesh, it just brings the flavour out more but if I was vaping a desert juice or tobacco, cotton may be the best medium for the warmth and savoury feel it gives.

Hey Quigs, can you tell us again where you got that roll of cotton gauze. Was it CVS or Walgreens? Not sure if you specified where you got it in an earlier post, plus I'm lazy!

Actually bought it a a store called Shoppers Drug Mart but they're just a Canadian store I think...even though I've been in a ton of US drug stores I don't recall seeing it but surely it must be a universal product.

Forgive me again...such a noob! just wondering if theres any difference in rolling the coil around the cotton as opposed to the mesh. I've watch numerous videos using the mesh and it seems like it is somewhat 'solid' after its been oxidized, make it 'look' easy to wrap a coil without bending over the wick. I would think that wrapping a coil around cotton would be more difficult as the cotton would tend to flop around a bit. is this true? or is the process otherwise the same as wiring up a steel wick?

This wick is all of my drunk Mexican uncles' unsavory thirst for beer trapped inside my ody

LOL...I hear you on the nic hit though...but it only makes sense, with the amount of juice the cotton Ody barfs through it just comes down to the math of mg/ml...I'm kicking around making a special cotton juice at 8mg/ml...(my normal is 10mg)

after I twist the cotton in I jam 2 skinny 2" sewing needles into the wick hole (one on each side of the cotton)...nice and solid, then I wrap a tight wick then slide the needles out, done.

This is all quite interesting (though I should admit I didn't read all of it yet). Silica wicks seem like a bad idea. It is fiberglass after all. Even a heavy vaper would likely never develop silicosis as the quantity of silica is quite limited. But still it's a good thing to avoid, particularly if you've had other large exposure. I worked as a glass blower for many years and wish I used a respirator on clean up days more often.
Stainless isn't a perfect option either. Often the alloy isn't even known, and some contain lead. Stainless will off gas to some degree, after all that taste comes from something.
So that brings us to natural fibers which we wouldn't mind smoking a little bit of.
