A little enhancement. The wick where the coil is basically just the wick doubled over to make it a little bigger. Any larger and I lose performance. I wanted the juice holding properties of a larger wick to keep up with my chain vaping. So, I created a cotton reservoir just above the coil by wrapping it with more cotton. I must say, it's keeping up with me now. It's a little hard to see but above the coil up to the wick hole is at least quadruple in thickness. Keeps that juice ready to vape. I made myself dizzy trying to get a dry hit but couldn't do it. :vapor:

It was indeed, and I really do appreciate everyone's help. Again, its no knock against any one product or individual for that matter. Its just that I love my bottom feeders and honestly didn't feel like putting any more effort into this right now. Of course, that may/probably will change, but I'm lazy!

We did talk about this...about cutting off a piece of 16 - 14 gauge syringe needle, sticking it through the silicon and just leaving it there as a fill/breather.

Nice work Kwalka...

Hi there folks! I'm new to rebuildables and I just got a used defcon from a good friend. It came with a stainless mesh wick in it, which I feel doesn't wick nearly fast enough and dry burns like crazy on me. I tried to read through this thread, but wow, 100 pages! LOL! I was wondering what everyone feels is the best non ss wicking material they've tried so far, and where to get it? Thanks!

oh no, that would be cheating,,, you gotta read the whole thing before I tell you that I like the #4 cotton yarn and some like the bunny balls and others like the cotton batting while still others like the gauze pad for a wick.

LMAO! #4 Cotton Yarn eh? I'm assuming you get an all natural un dyed version? What is a bunny ball?

Gummy, you're cruel

Amber, for you and what you're looking for, if you read the last 10 pages or so, you'll find what you're looking for...

EDIT: btw, I move that there be put in place a moratorium on the mentioning of "Bunny Balls", unless you're a girl, then it's ok

Did AmberB just ask where babies come from? Well see when a man and a woman are in love.... Sorry AmberB I couldn't help it.
In all seriousness, correct me if I am wrong folks, this thread is more of an experimental type of thing. I would not necessarily start with rebuildables (RBAs) using these wick techniques. If I were you I would get the SS thing down first and then once you've mastered rolling and wrapping then one should venture off into using things like yarn, cotton, or even bunny balls. I own 3 RBAs and I'm about 3 weeks into all 3 of them and I'm just now starting to get it right on a reg basis. I am in no way ready to try an apply the things these folks are doing here. This is just my 2cents anybody else feel free to call it the other way.

Let it be known the page had not refreshed until after I posted that last post, and I agree 100% about the"BB" thing.

hiya, amber! glad you made it! hildi did make a cotton wick for his defcon ......

I did indeed. See my post a few pages back about my thoughts on the whole thing. To be fair, I did also try cotton gauze but just found it too fragile, kept unraveling when I tried to insert in the wick hole. I'm going to chalk that up to my lack of experience and relative lack of patience. Cotton batton was much easier to work with for me. AGAIN, please take everything I say here with a MASSIVE grain of salt. I am a total noob to this and by no means claim to be the expert. In fact I hasten to report anything here in fear of misleading anyone. Add to that, I have only tried this maybe twice, So I really have no leg to stand on. One day, maybe soon, I will devote more time to this endeavor. In my very limited time with these the one thing I can say with confidence is that it does seem worth the effort, and when I get more time I will absolutely jump in with both feet.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with the "master first then experiment" thing...I'd be concerned with the frustration aspect and losing someone because they're like "screw it, I can't do this genny RBA thing, I'm going back to attys, cartos, etc..." where as if you have some various cotton types at your little building station and you've hit the wall with mesh, play with the cotton...and vice/versa (because getting cotton to work perfectly isn't exactly a slam dunk)...as far as I'm concerned both media's have merit, both produce great results, both require a little practice and skill and some of skills are transferable from one to another.

I say take on both at the same time :)
