I'm thinking of thinning my CE2 wick even more, I started outpacing it a bit as it got below half
Cotton seems to be very greedy. It really sucks up juice, it wicks with a vengeance, which leads to gurgling, and flooding of the heating element (though not to the point where I get a leak through the air tube). This incarnation was MUCH better, but as I said, still not perfect.
An example of juice hogging: When I fill a CE2 and regret my choice of juice, I just dump it out, and pretty much ALL of it runs out (minus what's in the wick only, which seems to be about .3 ml or so)
When I tried to empty the cotton wick set up multiple times, I'm missing about .9 ml, I kid you not lol. (these are XLs, 1.8 mls). The wick expands like a gremlin in water, and even holds a thick layer of juice around it, beneath it, etc.
Startle: I too think it is a Long Island thing, or maybe a New York thing, as Charlz was telling me about this when I was still in my vaping diapers

What's odd is fresh out of the box I've never had this problem, its only after adjustments or re coiling. The position of the thing must be very finicky, such that 1 mm up or down is a deal breaker.
Thank you for posting that picture, I didn't realize that was a michaels product when I saw it earlier.
WRT to cotton vs. silica: Its still entirely possible that the silica particles in the condensate are NOT small enough to get within the lungs. The lungs as we know have a system of 'tubing' that decrease in caliber from trachea onward, and as you approach "bottom" most things simply ain't getting in. The really scary issue with silicosis is when tiny particles make their way downward, piss off your local immune system chronically --> fibrosis, remodeling, etc. Then you're dead.
And its interesting to consider in this regard that common wisdom seems to be, that vape is too large to reach the alveoli, and most absorption occurs in the nasopharynx. IF this is true (I have no idea what anyone bases this on, wrt to research, etc; or perhaps its simply a theoretic deduction based on the known size of vaporized VG/PG)
That said, if the stuff irritates your 'throat' (which depending on what you mean, may actually be a GI reaction, not a pulmonary issue), don't use it.
Cotton may also be releasing some nasties as well.
**Really ...... about the stardust situation, I have nothing to put on my Echos that I like (except a modded Vision tank)!!!
