I roll my gauze just like you would the mesh. I tried looping the cotton and bamboo thread at different thicknesses. Meh. Not for me.
I tried a little experiment this morning with the E-2's. I rebuilt one regular with gauze at 2.2ohm's and another E-2 that I had ground off the cup/slots for a hard flat surface. Made that one the same, Gauze wick at 2.2ohm's.
Results, reg E-2= good as ever.
Flat top E-2=snap, crackle, pop, not much vapor. Just all around bad except for the cough/cough throat hit.
I tried lowering the battery voltage and it barely worked at all. I'm really at a loss why this happened.
The short of it is, that everyone has to find what works for them. Just keep at it until you do.
