Hey Quig, I kept the Penny, traded three cheap lines and two modded Vivi tanks all wicked and coiled and an extra 5 coiled wicks, my friend is not very mechanical and could never get the Penny going so he is happy and I have a Penny. Now to bamboo it. Not very impressed with it so far. The best was with CC. Doubt I can find bamboo here even though I probably have a thousand large bamboo plants on the farm so will order some Aunt Lydia's and wait.

Off the shelf at Michael's Crafts if you have one close

If you bought the bamboo yarn at Michael's, you better take a close look at the label. Around here it was 12% acrylic. There is also some crochet thread labeled 100% bamboo viscose. For viscose you can substitute rayon but, it burns to ash and it really is the best wick I've used so far.

I hope they solve the darkening fluid issue with the clearos
along with the reply...
Bottom coil usually solves this issue. The darkening of the liquid usually is because the wicks pull up the lighter weighing particles better than the heavier weighing parts of your juice. Or something like that. It doesn't really happen when using the bottom coil ce3's.

I'm wondering if any of my wicked wiccan wick enthusiast friends have experience or thoughts on this to share.

IMO there will always be some feedback with every coil to the juice. Even plain VG or PG ends up gunking around the coil and this feeds back with all wick, on the smaller tanks it seems to be less, it just doesn't have time to accumulate. Each juice is different and some gunk more than others.

Cool, I can confirm this.

I have CE3 clearomizers that I have rebuilt with CC [Edit this one is CW]. Liquid color stay clearer. This one (below) has about 10ml through it. With my vivi nova I would have sludge at the bottom especially if the tank got low.

CE3 CW at 10mls.jpg

This is the other side of the CE3 that was facing down, there is a slight ring at the bottom so there is build up.

By the way I have done a reverse flush on this when I changes liquid a about a week ago. I have not opened the head up yet so who know what is lurking in there...

Very nice! Bookmarked. Thank you.

Is there anyway to build your Resistance Wire chart (linked below) into the calculator to determine pre-coiling wire length?

I've actually seen it in action on a short-wicked vivi nova of mine. The wick tails were normal-looking at the end of the night, I wet them well, and took a couple of last puffs.

The next morning, there were dark bands near the end of the wick tails, which dispersed back into the liquid as I re-wet the wicks.

This leads me to believe that it's mostly a feedback issue, as BJ43 pointed out. PG and VG are both solvents, so I believe that they dissolve some of the gunk on the coil, and that feeds back into the liquid.
