Cotton bacon (v2?), is a little different to rayon (cellu-cotton). I personally use 'muji' cotton pads because they're cheap, good quality and easy to work with.

The little specs in your cotton is just little pieces of cotton husk and nothing to worry about.

I told my wife the specs were caterpillar doo to stop her stealing my cotton pads to remove her eye make-up, lol.
She still belives it to this day...

I'm using Cotton Bacon v1 I guess. Whats the difference between Cotton Bacon and Rayon? I was thinking of ordering the cotton that RipTrippers suggested in his description.

I've heard rumorus that cotton bacon is a mix of rayon and cotton but never seen anything to back it up.

Cotton (bacon), is fibers of untreated cotton from (as you probably already know), the cotton plant.

Rayon (cellu-cotton), I believe is a synthetic fiber made up of strands more like tubes that'll pull juice along the wick.

Just looked at rips's description, those cotton puff pads are both good and cheap, I've got a couple of bags here as we speak, BUT shipping to me here (UK), is sloooowww as they ship from Japan,YMMV, so make sure your in no rush for them, lol.

Koh Gen Do - is also another very good option but a little more costly than the cotton-puff-pads.

Muji - cotton pads are very much like Koh Gen Do, a little smaller but a little thicker.

There is also 'Native Wicks - Platinum Blend', which is nice but pricey, its kind of another cotton bacon.

There are different sized Muji-Pads: I have 60x50mm, which are the thick ones and 90x70. which are thinner. I prefer the thinner ones.

Produktsuche wattepads MUJI Online Store

I didnt know there are different sizes all my bags are 60×50, I'll pick me up some of the thinner ones I think.

Thankyou for pointing this out, I'd never noticed it myself.

@opticruby Thanks for the summary of cottons! Are you able to rip layers off the bigger pads for smaller coils?

How long did shipping from Japan take for you?

Your welcome.

layers will rip off the larger pads fine, some people leave the layer on one side to scottish-roll their wicks, I personally rip both off.

I think shipping took 3-4 weeks on the puff pads fron Japan, kinda like a Fasttech order, lol.

Those cotton puff pads are good wicking material though, I used to use it all the time. I used to order a new pack when I got to about half-way through the pack I was using so my new pack would arrive just as my old pack had just a few pads left.
