I like to get my wire from Temco. I like them because they're about as close to the source as it gets, and even though they aren't a vape shop (like Lighting Vapes), they definitely welcome vapers buying wire from them (this is rare, many companies don't like the liability, like Dow Chemical). Free shipping, took 3 days from CA to OH for me. Once you get to the Resistance Wire section of the site, it's also very easy to find what you need.

You're right, you just can't find suitable resistance wire (like Kanthal) at hardware stores; they just don't stock it, none of them. Thankfully, cellucotton rayon is available at all Sally Beauty stores, if you choose to go that route. $12 for a 500' lifetime supply :)

When I say CelluCotton... It is actually 100% rayon.

Yes sir, When I started my reply to him no one had mentioned rayon at that point, but being the slow typer that I am, and before I dug up the link to JermeryRs thread and wrote my note, several had already thrown rayon into the mix. :)

Sally's CelluCotton :) heck my wife even had her hair done in it to try and get my attention away from my vape gadetry. :)

to ecf magikarp. Nice to meet you and so glad you are here. Just a wonderful place to be. I also purchase my Kanthal from Lightning and have been really pleased with their products as well as fast shipping. My preference in wicking is KGD type wicking or rayon. Both offering good saturation. I give the slight edge to KGD because of the ease of use. This was recommended to me by a friend and I will get it next because of the price.

Good luck to you and happy vaping.

Several years ago bought a 100' spool from an ebayer for a buck or 2 less than temco directly. Noticed after several months I could see the bottom of the spool.... 100' should have lasted me many years. Unrolled the rest of the spool, it was about 10 feet remaining. So the ebayer was selling maybe 15 or 25' spools claiming they were 100. Lesson learned, I no longer buy wire from eBay but temco direct.

I just tried cotton yarn last night for the first time. Fit perfectly in my standard size coil I make. Tiny bit loose but swelled to fit just right. I've been getting a burnt taste and found my coil legs were a little short and melting the insulator plug on the coil head . new longer legged coil fixed that. Easy to overlook that when burning problems arise. Especially when the wick looks brand new. I was left scratching my head.

I buy all my Kanthal from LightningVapes on eBay. Great prices and shipping is really fast. If you want something more advanced for sub-ohm building, try Royal Wire, I get mine from Juice Crate. As far as wick goes, I buy Rayon (cellucotton) from Sally's Beauty Supply, and it's the only wick I use after trying a ton of different options.

Another faithful convert to the church of rayon. I still can't figure should we be called Rayonites or Rayonies :)

No longer are any Cottontailed bunnies being harmed in my quest for vape Nirvana. :vapor:

There is and if I may, I'd like to throw rayon into your mix. I have not used anything else since I found/figured it out.

For some Rayon reading:http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ck-better-flow-flavor-saturation-nic-hit.html

If you would like to give a little a try, PM your address and I will send you a envelope stuffed with some. :vapor:

I'm currently using sterile cotton (bought from a roll from cvs)
Is rayon that much better?
I've read a lot of posts of people saying how great it is and I want to try it just because of all the hype about it

I ran out and bought a big box of rayon from sally's expecting it to be the best thing ever! First wick it was super clean and tasted great. Wicked up 3 more tanks and vaped for 3 days using rayon. Over those 3 days I increasing felt worse and worse. Tight chest, light headed and nauseous. I went back to cotton and the symptoms went away immediately. I vape between 3 and 6 mg DIY and I wasn't vaping any more than I usually do. No idea why it made me feel like that but I now have a giant box of uselessness.

I would suggest getting a small amount to try before buying a big box.

Thats really wierd, you do realize it is nothing but cotton processed in a purer process right? One thing with all else the same. Build, wattage and atty rayon increased my ml consumption right off the bat I ASSumed due to better coil feed (your light headed and nauseous symtoms sure sound like higher nic intake to me, but I am no expert nor do I live in a Holiday Inn Express), and to be honest I can't remember the last time I had a dry hit. However as with all thing subject to individual taste an tactics YMMV :)

Cotton processed in a purer process? It's cellulose or basically wood pulp put through a chemical process.

I really liked it the first time I tried it but over the next few days for whatever unknown reason rayon was adversely affecting me. I guess maybe it could have been nic overdose but I vape such low milligram juice I find that hard to be the sole cause. I've never heard of anyone else feeling the way I did and I know lots of people love it and swear by it, I don't doubt that for a second. I realize it sounded like I was trying to discourage rayon, I apologize for that. Rayon definitely wicks better than cotton balls and without any funky cotton taste of a new wick. I guarantee anyone trying rayon for the first time is going to be impressed. I wish it had worked out for me, oh well.
