No new smell or taste for me, been like 3 months now. But I can now tell when the dog cuts one. I buy good sounding juice, but they basicly all taste/smell the same. About the only one that is different is atomic cinnnacide and one I got rid of that smelled like soap. If smell/taste is coming back, it is sure taking its sweet time.

Sometimes it's great to have your senses back and sometimes it's not. You'll notice how bad smokers really do smell and you won't believe you used to smell like that too. The flavor of foods and drinks will change a lot too.

As for how long it will take, that's really an individual thing. For some, it only takes a couple of days for others it takes a few weeks.

THIS IS SO TRUE!

I never could really smell smoke on a smoker. Maybe faintly, but not really as I was a smoker too. OMG now when I am around people who smoke a lot they smell so STRONG and I am so horrified that once was me!

Its also true about taste. I thought getting a better taste back would be terrific. Not so much all the time...its been a couple of weeks and I can already notice my taste buds changing. There are a few quick and easy meals I used to love..one being Hormels Roast beef and Au Jois that you just heat and eat. OMG i ate it the other night and thought "YUK how did I used to like this"? IT tasted really awful to me.

Everyone assumes the taste buds coming back makes things taste better....not always. It also can mask the fact that some foods tasted really bad!

Im not all that happy my taste came back! LOL But seriously I am because that is a healthy sign I would think but it isn't as pleasant as you might think.

i just want to get this out also i notcied on the op's post...nicotine isnt going to affect virtually anything about smell taste ect unless you count a stronger TH on your inhale. nicotine in the small amounts displaced in an e cig is no more harmful then the caffine in a mt dew. just use in moderation and step down as you can

What I meant in my post is that my normal taste started COMING BACK not that the Egic vape altered it in a bad way. Its just that my taste and smell is getting back to normal, and that isn't always a good thing! Now i smell bad stuff I'd rather not smell, and bad food now tastes bad again. LOL

I like to smell bad stuff. That's my body's defense telling me to avoid it, that it is rancid or sour or spoiled in some way. I like to smell exhaust, as it tells me to seek fresher air that isn't loaded with carbon monoxide.

I like it when bad food tastes bad to me. It's my body's defense to tell me that it is probably moldy or tainted in some way. Also, my taste coming back keeps me from using too much salt and sugar and other stuff I might be better off avoiding. Also, fresh, raw veggies taste so much better now than they did before my taste buds came back.

But that's just me.

OMG BOOMKIM! love it! I have one too. :D

I quit smoking totally for a year and a half with the help of prescription pills (analog smoker of 13 years now). It took me several months to get my sense of smell and taste back. However.. I hit a rough patch and in 1 month I had a lot of life pressures get to me with finals (f/t student), a divorce, and the stress of a full time job and 2 kids I went back onto analogs. A month ago I found out about vaping and after 2 days of being on it the smell and taste of an analog made me nauseated like I'd never smoked before. Smokers walking by me smelled hideous, and when my sister light an analog in my car I wanted to throw up ON HER. The second I started using an e-cig I was totally off analogs. This is the only way to smoke.

Been on e cigs since last Wed, have not picked up an analog. Thought about it, but gave the rest away. The No 7's are a good starter, not enough smoke output even after cleaning, going to a 510.

Went out a few nights ago and could smell the analogs bad, they were getting close to the repulsive smell. Cig smell was normal, its head turning now, not in a good way. I did not smoke in the vehicle or the house, I can now :)

I don't know about you but my taste and smell was NEVER so bad I coudln't discern the smell of rancid food, things that smelled pretty bad, exhaust fumes, etc.

it is just more pronounced now, but I never lost it completely. yes, I could tell what was bad or sour, smell exhaust, etc. If you couldn't tell those things prior to giving up analogs your sense of taste and smell was seriously eroded. Mine was not so bad that I couldn't tell good from rotten.

I'm practically overjoyed to know I will be getting my sense of smell back. My sense of taste never faltered. Smell is closely linked to memory, and I have countless poems written about the psychological effects of losing most of your sense of smell.

Although, I do remember long and extremely stressful work days where I wouldn't smoke for 6 hours at a time. My sense of smell would come back with a vengeance, and a lot of people didn't smell very good at all lol. I probably smelled like a burnt skunk though.

I'm in the same boat as far as the sense of smell goes for cigs. I moved on only a couple of days ago and already had the "I'll try just one last one" experience. Ugh! I put it out and after a couple of good swallows of beer went back to my mint e-cig. The acrid flavor and some sort of nasty smell really made the point for me. No more of that.
