There's been some talk that the new Prodigy V2 will use Protege/PT adapters. Is this true?
Will the Prodigy V2 use ProTEGE/PT adapters, or a new 3rd type of adapter?

NO. The V2 will have separate adapters that will NOT work with the V1, Protege, or USB PT. The V1 adapters will also not work on the V2.

There's about half a dozen threads where this is answered by Casey - this is an error on the web site.
There are (or will be) 4 adapters:
1) Aluminum adapter that fits old Prodigy
2) Old, discount priced, aluminum adapter that fits passthrough and Protege
3) New stainless Steel adapter that fits passthrough and Protege
4) Stainless Steel adapter that will fit new Prodigy V2 and will not fit old Prodigy, passthrough or Protege - not yet for sale and details not yet released
This was referring to what PS was originally calling the Prodigy V2, it later became the Protege, thing of that reference to the V2 as the protege, and don't read anything else into it.
The prodigy V2 has its own adapter, will not fit anything else that PS makes.
