Decided to join the party and I just ordered some rope. Did this thread and the OP start the whole rope craze ? If so good on ya, I've heard and seen nothing but great stuff.

I think shortyjacobs did start this craze. I would personally like to thank him also. I have been using the rope with great results for over a week (thanks to bigv69er). I can't believe that more people have not jumped into this thread and checked it out for themselves.

Yup, use ATA with my provari on this setup for a bit now. Never read this thread until last night (start to finish, hours!). My dad told me about the SS rope, and I figured out the SS mesh collar on my own.

Pretty good thread! This wicks like crazy. Tried adding another hole in my drip tip like they talk about in the ceramic thread. Pretty sure it helped. At least, cools the vapor down a bit to make it more tolerable

At present, I have a 2 ohm coil and run around 4v

I've used "gennies" on my Provari, Zmax and Evic.

The only folks that keep touting mechanicals for gennies are the ones building sub-ohm or low-ohm coils that would trip the protection circuits on most VV/VW devices.

If, like me, you are content with building coils in the 1.8 - 2.4 ohm range, there's no reason that you can't run it on a VV/VW device.

after a visit at a local store and talked to a pro there, I think my problem is that I am using the genesis type on my mod. Over there, they always use these genesis type on mechanical mod. They said it's not that good with mod. IS this true? Any of you use these, with ss rope, on mod and success?

Provari can do genesis with 0.9 ohm coil. I am using mini DID 2mm 7x7 ss rope 0.6 ribbon at 1.3ohm= MAD flavour and vapor on Provari. Thanks to shortyjacobs for started this thread

My Noble is kicking out clouds with 500 mesh and 28g coil but you guys got me wanting to try this. If I could plug the fill hoes and it would still wick good I'd be in heaven. I drilled my wick hole out to 1/8"

Prepare to be in heaven... lol.

These ropes wick faster than you could possibly need it to. I am a bona-fide chain vaper and I refuse to leave my fill hole screw out, never have, never will.

It's in stock now at BigTex

Does anyone have any suggestions for NOT cooking your tank full of juice with this rope? Vaping Ginger Ale from MBV.. out of the bottle this juice is almost completely clear, by the time I'm down to 1/4 tank the juice is so dark I can no longer see through it.

The fast wicking cuts both ways. It wicks, but it's also a good "pipe", allowing juice to flow up and down as you tip it up and down. This carries burnt gunk back down into the tank over time.

A daily hot water rinse, dry burn, rinse off the ash, dry burn to burn off the water works great for me. Takes me about 3 minutes to syringe out whatever juice is left, push a few plungerfulls of hot water into the tank and out the wick, a shake to get rid of excess water, dry burn, and if I really feel like it I rinse again to get rid of ash and dry burn once more.

I`v just read this thread form start to finish... and needless to say I`ve got Ekowool and 316 SS rope in 7/7 and 7/19 in both 2.5 and 3mm (hard to find 3/32 or 1/8 here in the UK believe it or not!) on order to try in the AGA-T2 and the RSST:)

I did notice quite early in the thread some guys were concerned about Galvanised coatings on the SS rope and rightly so! the fumes given off can be carcenogenic and are nasty ( I know via welding galvanised steel and you need a respirator or just don`t bother!)
There may be a get around or even a test. Galvanised steel of any kind absolutely hates caustic soda! It will bubble and fizz and the caustic strips the galvanisation off in no time!
I often use (carefully) a hot solution of caustic to strip the plating off small parts if they have to be welded.

So a quick test would be to add some caustic soda crystals to some hot water and test a small section of the suspect SS rope in it, if it reacts it`s coated! If you leave it overnight it will strip any of the plating and leave the SS untouched. If you want to strip some of your plated SS for vaping use I recommend a thorough washing after, in fact several washes to make sure all traces of soda are removed.

Now the disclaimers!!! :
Always were gloves and goggles!
Never add boiling water to the crystals! It will react violently!
Do not breathe the fumes!
Do this at your own risk.

Caustic soda crystals can be found at most hardware stores and are commonly used for clearing drains, removing limescale etc :)

This is a fantastic tip. For others out there, caustic soda is another name for sodium hydroxide. Look for some super cheap drain clearing crystals, or even just drano/liquid plumber liquid, and read the warning label on the side. If it says "Contains Sodium Hydroxide", "Lye", or "NaOH", that's what you want.

On another forum, they've been experimenting with making their own cables out of strands of kanthal. I'm giving that a shot next. Also, I see AG and a few other reviewers have a "ghetto" cable tutorial aired. This might be the safest, and cheapest (ouch price for the cable cutters) way of doing this cable wick.

Do you have a link to the Tutorial?
