You can do it!!! (( Adam Sandler movie voice)) In all seriousness good luck sir. I can relate with the singing. My voice is still going through the "dry spots" and hitting high notes since I've quit analogs alone. Just imagine what a difference your voice will be like pure. I miss being able to have some Steven Tyler and Axle Rose style vocal range without worrying about biffing em' bad.:toast:

I sincerely wish you luck in your endeavor, but it sounds as if you already have all the determination you need. Life is way too short not to be doing what you so love to do, and that is what will guide you through this! Please be so kind as to come back to ECF to let us us all how your making out with hitting those notes, maybe a little youtube show?? {{{Hugs}}}

PS: There are a lot of U.S Veterans in VA hospitals, that would LOVE to have someone pay a visit, especially with a song or two!!!!!

I just did a marathon phone call with Katz and we were talking about health a bit. Part of why I wanted to quit vaping is about how I am feeling physically.

I notice in the mornings, when I first start vaping, I feel a twang painy feeling in throat but mostly my chest. After a few pulls on the pv the feeling seems to go away. But what is troubling is my shortness of breath. My voice itself is much stronger, no denying. But I have had to stop using any flavourings in my vapes, as some actually made me wheeze. Hell I've even developed an allergy to my pit stick (and I am not allergic to anything). Well it turns out, Katz and Sparky both seem to be showing similar shortness of breath issues.

Today is my last day of vaping. I don't want to scare anyone. Nobody seems to talk about these symptoms much on here but today I find 3 of us are experiencing the same type of thing. I still believe these e cigs are god sent miracle sticks, but I also have to wonder why after 6 months this shortness of breath seems to be worse now. I've always been in decent shape. Even 2 yrs ago, I was walking/running 120 flights of stairs a night doing security patrols downtown, as a smoker. Now I feel winded doing 1 chin up LOL

That is a good reason to quit. I found when I first started vaping, about 3 weeks in, a lot of problems with GERD/heartburn, tightness in the chest etc. For me I stopped inhaling. :) It was too much vapour or nic for me. Of course what was too much for me probably didn't even faze someone else and what doesn't faze me could be far too much for you.

Stop by and let us know how you feel a week or two after you have stopped vaping.

I thought I should toss something out. my last day vaping, yesterday, I decided to toss some good old dekang straight pg, into the pv. the shortness of breath feeling cleared up considerably (or at least noticeable enough to mention). so either I am not liking vg, or my pg base or mix is causing me some grief? I dunno.

anyway, so far so good, day 1 without vaping. a little withdrawal of nicotine but it's not out of control. I was just reminded that I was bouncing off the walls for near a week when I quit analogs haha but this is not even in the same league

All the great luck to you Pipeous.

You're in surrey! I'm a jazz musician living in Langley, just starting out vaping and waiting for a mod order to be completed. So I'm still an analog smoker. Hopefully I can quit when my mod arrives and start vaping regularly.

Looks like I'll be following your footsteps on vaping and you'll be following mine on music path.

Hey that is great. I notice I am just natually not vaping as much as when I first started out. Although I still enjoy it while sitting here at the computer. Not as ready to give it up like you are but the nic isn't as important to me any more.

Hope the shortness of breath goes away for good. I was burning it on the exercise bike tonight and noticed I tired out before I lost my breath. My old legs got too sore to go on but I could still hold a good conversation. Before when I smoked I would have been huffing and puffing long before the legs gave out.

I hope you keep up on the updates. Wanna hear how well you do. It's encouraging to hear.

This is something I've been thinking about lately, and there's no question in my mind that vaping is more irritating on the lungs than smoking, and I still do both by the way so it's not hard to compare. I inhale the vapor deeply though so that might have something to do with it but I see no point in just blowing vapor. I've also found that VG is more irritating than PG so since I've been uwsing 70/30 and 50/50 this has gotten worse for sure.

Now with all that said, there's been a lot of benefits to vaping for me and I'm still completely sold on it. The shortness of breath that I had from smoking has definitely improved and I can do more physical activity now, although trust me that's not a lot :) I did expect to be able to breathe better with vaping and that was the case with 100% PG but now that I'm vaping the VG too things have gone the other way a bit. I have about 500 ML of PG/VG though and I'm not throwing it away that's for sure, and this might be a matter of adjusting better over time, we'll see.

From my experiences in trying to quit smoking there's no question that you'll be breathing a lot better without vaping at all, I expect that this will be a lot tougher than switching, keep us up to date on your progress man.

ok, nicotine is still addictive, it just took longer. by 2 am at work last night I was bouncing. I had eaten all my food by midnight. lucky I had gum. I will admit I wished I had my pv bad, and also glad I never brought it. I chewed through half a pack of gum from midnight to 5 am but by then the withdrawal symptoms had allready started to subside. hell I was even working out last night, push ups and crap... so that's the new work routine. I have to spend at least 30 mins a day working out.... might as well as it's better than watching tv.

so yes I went through a withdrawal after all was said and done, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was when I switched from smoking to vaping. I just woke up and having my morning coffee and it doesn't bother me much at all today. I did have a bit of a fitful sleep but I think that was more due to weekend noises outside (got woken at 10, 12 and then finally awake at 1)

You are doing great. Do you think it was strictly the nic or the nic and the habit? I worry more about the habit part more then anything.

I believe it's both. I have 2 pv's sitting beside me right now and at times the urge to vape is still pretty strong. I'm just going to head on the bike for a ride as I can go hours without vaping when on the bike... still. you guys never saw what a basket case I was my first 2 days off analogs. I painted that scooter and only slept about 4 hrs total those first 2 days (still proud of that paint job, my first ever free hand airbrush). This isn't as bad by any means but I still feel a physical withdrawal. the aloof feeling in the head is the psychotic side of things... yes I am psychotic... I can read you mind right now and no I am not full of BS LOL

I tried quitting analogs many many times. I rarely made it through day 1 in all my attempts. one time I quit for 6 months and wish I had never had a smoke to kill that. making it past that 3 day mark was the toughest part for me. the e cig made that possible. and then add to this, I met many cool people here that I now call friends, and it took me longer to actually set the pv down... I've even been asked if I was going to stop hanging out with my new friends and/or here. no, you can't lose me that easy.

and when others feel it's their time to stop vaping, just know that the hardest part for me was stoping the analogs. the withdrawals to me were rather intense. I had the shakes even. This time I had some anxiety but not even near the same scale. it's been about 32 hrs now since I had nicotine and feel the worst part is over

I can't honestly answer about that. I read something on a quit smoking forum about how cutting down doesn't work because it actually makes things worse. for myself when I was cutting back, the vape got bland and I vaped more. I don't feel it's as much a physical dependancy as it is the psych side of losing a long time habit (it's also worse after I puff some of that other stuff, so have to try and refrain a bit from that)

well last night had some withdrawals again but not as bad as the night before. I am doing a marathon work week and today meeting up with the gang to race rc cars. the loss of breath feeling is gone now and after the early part of last night's shift, the clear phlegm has mostly stopped...

I personally believe that it's more then just the nicotine that addicts us to cigarettes. If it's the psychological, the physical habit or a combination of the other chemicals added or all of it, I am not sure. I just know that if it was just the nic we all would have stopped long ago when the patch first came out.

LOL, had to stop that other stuff a couple of years ago due to a chronic health problem. Then I didn't want to think about it while I was working on quitting.

I think those withdrawal symptoms will fade over the next week. Just keep busy and whatever you do, don't even try and have just one cigarette or I will personally come down there and smack you over the head with an eGo.
