Why are you upping the power?
With either the default or 0120ish, my 0.5 bounces off temp protect at 440F (40-50w) as it should.

Are you drawing particularly lightly? That won't provide the cooling it needs.
120 420'F at 60 Watts Still get temperature control warning. and little vape.

I was pleasantly surprised with this update. I was expecting tc to be confusing but my first build with 304 stainless using a tcr of 0104 and it's regulating perfectly with dual contact coils :D Running it at 140 watts and 530f no dry hits whatsoever. I see what all the fuss is about now. Kudos to joyetech for sticking to their word

Updated this morning, set M1 to 0105 for 304 stainless, 75W @ 520 degree and it was doing great. This evening, it won't stay in TC. It keeps jumping to wattage mode @ 20W. Change it back to TC and as soon as I hit the fire button, it's back to wattage @ 20W. Pulled the batteries, set it to TC, hit the fire button and back to wattage @ 20W. Any ideas? Parallel 26 ga. 304 stainless, dual coils.

If you all didn't see the thread check/ask over there too. I know there are over 100 pages but many of us ordered them on release. I have not updated mine yet to 3.0 but the last few pages it has been being discussed. I use ni wire so no help on ss.

Got it sorted. It was actually my atty. The Subzero has that standoff deck and the bottom piece was getting loose, so contact with the 510 was intermittent. Tightened it up and all is well.

I'll have to just stop using either the default, or even the mem reg I set up to duplicate it with my 0.5 Crown head and just use Power Mode because... "the ss functions will not work in the new tcr mode and in ss mode for temperature control".

Well damn. :(

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

It's the reverse, and just as bad, as those who told us we weren't really having TC issues with our VTCs.
Are there issues? Sure. I have no idea why JTech's TCR calcs seem to be all over the place.
Four mods from three divisions and I'm not seeing a ton of consistency in the TC issues.

But let's try to keep a leash on the hyperbole.

You have to play with the TCR setting to get it right for my lemo v1 I use 0172 for 430 ss with the subtank plus I have to use 0220 to get the same vape. This won't be the last firmware release for the rolo and this update does allow you to dial in for the vape you want so this whole "do not do the ver 3 update" is drama queening at it's worst. As a rough rule of thumb take the TCR for your wire and add 34 as I did on the lemo 1 430 ss TCR is 0138 on the rolo and some tanks\builds may require a higher compensation but tc still works even with the compensate. Add in you can do the update and if you don't get on with it you can reflash another version because the update procedure for the rolo is as easy as it gets. Least I now know one YouTube reviewer not to bother with.

Croak, I have no explanation for the TCR value discrepancies. I have a mem slot jacked up to 125 to match the SS mode. That's "too damn high", but it works.

Just swapped the potentially dodgy 0.5 Crown for a dual 26g (316L) at 0.18 in a V Mini.
Both running 45w/440F.

Much the same... and the standard SS mode is not anemic. Go figure.

Telling people not to update is drama queening there is nothing dangerous or even difficult about ver 3 you just have to work a tiny bit harder to dial it in and it is a tiny bit of work and the upgrade works so what reason is there not to update to it??.

Because people updating are not expecting problems, they're expecting improvements. Not everyone follows forums or geeks out as much as some of us here do, and not everyone is willing to put up with "workarounds", and some don't even know what a TCR is, they just use the preset SS mode and expect it to work. For those people, it's good advice to tell them something is not right with the update, and to hold up or roll back. It's also good information for those that have updated and then think they're having build problems when its the mod, like oh, @tomzgreat , the OP of this thread.

@BoostAddict it's not a problem with 3.0 kicking you out of TC, it's a problem with the mod thinking SS is vaping hotter than it really is, and throttling back power too early, in some cases almost as soon as you fire, resulting in a very weak vape, and it's more problematic with 316 and 317 that have lower TCR than 430 to start with.

Your not breaking anything to me ECF in fact add all the vaping forums together and it's a miniscule amount of the total vapers and anyone who see's the problem on Facebook, Google+, Instagram or any other social media will also find the solution quite quick I know I did ;). I've still not heard a compelling reason why anyone should not update to ver 3 because those looking to do it likely will do it for the user adjustable TCR that is the biggest aspect of ver 3 having to tweak the TCR value to get your vape where you want it isn't rocket science and there's already a lot of stuff across social media showing and explaining the ver 3 update. Only one person is telling people not to update speaks for itself really.
