Welcome to ECF, Pilaf424!

For my biased and personal opinion, the best 808 style battery is the Volt from Smokeless Image.

Ditto. :)
If you spend a lot of time at a computer or near a wall outlet, I'd highly recommend getting the passthrough they sell (or better yet, any X2 which are all passthrough) as well. Battery life is an issue with the cig style batteries. You will almost certainly end up stuck without a charged battery at some point and you don't want to have to resort to the old stinkies when that happens.

I would also forget the automatic batteries, or at least get one of each to experience the difference. If you do, the next replacement battery you get will be a manual one.

With minis I prefer autos. Why buy something that looks like a cig if you can't use it like one because you have to press a button? And with an auto mini, I can vape hands free and never have to grope around for a button.

With larger bats, a button is fine because you're always going to have to have a hand on it anyway because it's too heavy to hold in your mouth or even between your fingers. That's one of the main reasons you don't see them in mods as it's easier to do a simple mechanical switch than the autos (especially when you have a long bodied mod) and why bother if people have in their hand all the time anyway?
With the small stuff, I always stick with an auto.

Interesting. Would any of you Volt users rate the Volt battery and cartomizer above a Joye 510 battery with a boge cartomizer in terms or flavor, throat hit, vapor production, battery life, etc? I'm happy with the 510, but the Volt is even smaller which I like, so if it performs better as well I may need to try it.

They perform at least on par with the Boge LRs that I use in tanks on my Lavatube. And if you maintain them by cleaning them out once a week or so, they last a long time. I've got one that I've been using for over 2 months that still works as good as one fresh from the pack. Most last at least 2-3 weeks even with dark juices.

don't get auto batteries, they always short out.

Smokeless Image autos are all sealed autos. It's quite difficult to short them out.
I'm horrible about overfilling carts and have flooded the crap out of them and haven't had one short on me yet.

The volt autos are sealed, it's hard to short them. If you need a pass through, just buy the x2. It's a large battery and a pass through.

Lastly, if you are buying bottles of bolt juice, buy the prefilled cartomizers to match it as well. The blank volt cartos are the same price as the prefilled. If you buy the prefilled menthol and a bottle of menthol, you can 5 free ml and just refill them.

Through Monday. You will be pleased. It's a great backup, especially for when you are on the go. And like I said, super fast shipping. I placed an order sat night at 11pm, it was already shipped by 10 am this morning.

Which PPC do you reccommend, the slider or the mega charging case?
Is one case more pocketable than the other?

Go for the mega. It's not much larger, fits in your pocket. It's slimmer than a pack of CIgs, just a little longer. The mega hold 2 batteries and 3 cartos. Since its the same price that's the one I got

Thanks, just ordered the following:
Pro Starter Kit (78mm batt, with mega PCC, sweet sampler)
Wall Adapter
Battery Charger
3 Carto Cases
6 multi color end caps

Total: $81.30
Savings with Code: $17.07
Total Cost: $64.23

Whenever I see people ask for cigarette style PVs I always ask them why they want something like this. I think a lot of new vapors think that this will help them get off analogs, since it's more like smoking. Then what usually happens is they get curious and start getting other PVs and they figure out that this really isn't the case, and if anything, they enjoy vaping more with their bigger and shinier toys, and very often will get a bunch of them in fact. So the cigarette style gear gets left behind.

I still have my 510-t kit fom ages ago packed away, I take it out once in a while just to see how bad these things are. Once in a great while that is. Now I'm not trying to talk people out of getting these things, but what you need to realize is that it is just a phase in your vaping career, and usually a pretty short one. I know of no vets who still use this stuff, and while I'm sure they are out there, it does seem that the overwhelming majority of veteran vapers move past this stage.

There are some advantages and disadvantages though of the small toys. First, they are small. So they fit in your shirt pocket real nice, although that's true of larger PVs as well. My Darwin with the arm closed does as well for instance. They also look and feel more like a real cigarette, although that's something that usually is an issue when you first start out, as once again you think that this should simulate smoking as much as possible, and then later you realize that any PV will do that regardless of its size and shape.

Small PVs of course have poor battery life, so you thought you'd just be carrying around one of these, and now you realize that you need several on the go, and preferably a PCC to charge them on the go as well. Then you need to carry some juice, a back up carto or atty, etc, and so you end up realizing that instead of your little PV you will be carrying a fair bit of stuff regardless.

So with the small stuff you can choose between a standard or low resistance carto/atty, but that really doesn't give you much choice. So this is one of the main reasons why people end up leaving these behind, as they want to be able to customize the power of the vape. That's something you can't do with this, and you will either have to settle for the low power with a standard, or a higher one with the low resistance. So that's far from the ultimate experience, and sooner or later you will want to check out other, larger, variable power options.

So if I were to give advice to a newer vaper it would be to skip over this beginner stuff and move up to a better PV. I remember back then when I was in your shoes, I'm both pretty cheap and pretty skeptical and thought, I can't see why people pay that much for PVs. I was told that you don't know what you don't know, and when you get one you will see. I did, and I did :)

Good deal. I love a lot of the sweets. Watermelon is my favorite. Personally I like the classic grape over the new grape. Don't forget about the faces of volt promo in their sub forum here. Once you get your volt, take a picture of yourself holding it with the volt logo visible and they will send you a free battery, bottle of juice or pack of cartomizers.

You won't be disappoints with this pv . It's a great place to start and a step above most of the analog look a likes. When you are ready for something a little bigger, you can get the x2 and it works with all the cartomizers. They are about the size of a cigar. I use the regular batteries on the go and the x2 at home

I’ll make sure to do so after I get a chance to try it out next week.
It will be interesting comparing this to my Blu Premium 100’s and the 808-D1 clone I currently have.

3 cig lookalike PV systems is too many. I have a friend that is interested in quitting analogs, so I’ll pass along one of them once I get to test out the Volt. If it turns out not to be much better than the others I'll probably return it if they offer that option like I did with the Johnson Creek Vea.

Even though I usually vape my Kgo’s I always keep one of the cig clone’s in my pocket as an emergency. I like driving with them better too. It’s just more comfortable for me to hold while driving. Maybe it’s because of driving with a cigarette in my hand for so many years, it just feels right where my Kgo feels a bit awkward. Even though they don’t stack up to other things out there, at least for me the cig-clones have their place and I’m sure I’ll get good use out of it.

I’m telling myself that this is the last of the spending for now… but I won’t bet the house on that
In the short time I’ve been vaping I have that original 808-D1 clone that started me off, Blu Premium 100 kit, 2- Kgo’s, and an Ego Twist on order. I love to tinker and am a “gizmo” guy, so it’s hard to pass on things that look interesting.

Just another happy Volt customer chiming in. I tried out a Blu kit first and the batteries didn't last long at all. I had just quit analogs so I was vaping like crazy and I ran one of the two batteries down while the second was still recharging. Nothing like the 72mm Volt battery, which I recharge about twice a day. I also ordered an X2 900mAh this morning (and did not know about the code because I'm "special"), and submitted a picture for a freebie battery. I'm going on a camping trip in a few weeks and I'm hoping the four batteries and a PCC will see me through it.

Still new to this as well, started with V2 and yes...carrying a case for carts and extra battery for the day. Was wondering King Cobra what you would recommend. I have tried a tank, but the flavor doesn't really seem to come through as much as it does with the carts. I have gotten an Echo battery since it has the 808 threads as well and that does last all day. I've found I like filling the carts myself because I'm getting away from any and all tobacco flavors and tending toward the sweeter vapes. 2 1/2 weeks, no analogs but I sure do miss the simplicity of it sometimes.

Irish, if you have 808 cartos try the volt x2 900 or 1300. They are awesome. My 900 goes about 3 days before needing a charge with about 4 hours a day of vaping on it

I guess I'm still a noob since it's only been about a month, but I have an eGo C twist VV that I use most of the time with clearomizers and I still use my Joye 510-T with the 340 mah batteries every day, too. It's nice to stick in my pocket while I'm moving around a lot like cleaning or doing laundry. My eGo wouldn't fit in my pants pocket well and I'm not a fan of lanyards. If I have my 510 T full of some yummy juice and I walk through the kitchen in search of a snack, I just take a drag off the 510 T instead and avoid the calories. It's working well, I've lost 6 or 7 pounds already. I'm a writer, so I spend a lot of time on my laptop. Usually, I have my eGo C at hand, but sometimes I like to use the 510 T since I can fiddle with it the way I used to fiddle with an analog while I was writing. I'm sure that need will go away eventually, but a habit is hard to break.

The battery doesn't last as long, the taste and vapor aren't nearly as good, but I'm still glad I have the stick style. If I could only have one or the other, I would choose the eGo C twist in a heartbeat, but luckily, I can go back and forth between the two. I also like to drip new flavors on the 510 T atty with a drip tip so I can see if I like them. It's easier than taking the clearomizer off the ego C and putting the cone and atty on just to drip a few drops.

One more Volt question from me: In the reviews of the Smokeless Image new sealed auto batteries, people are complaining that they can't get good drags off them compared to the old, unsealed ones. Anyone here agree/disagree with that? I prefer auto style batteries to manual (tried both options with my Joye 510) so if their auto batteries aren't good I probably won't bother.
