So, having very recently restarted vaping again and finally quitting smoking (day 2 completely tobaccoless), I come home to an article on the local Louisville, KY news about some local smoke shops selling "illegal drug" eliquid to "teenagers."

While, vaping is not mentioned directly the use of ecigs as paraphernalia for consumption is. I'm not wanting to get into a discussion of drugs illegal or otherwise, but I am concerned about the equation of ecigarettes as paraphernalia.

"Earlier that night, the teenager had been among friends passing around a small bottle with a dropper. Some smoked the liquid in an e-cigarette; ...."

If a moderator allows I will post the link to the story. It was featured on WDRB news today.

No it isn't.

I fell off the wagon and smoked an analog today and the red brand tasted like an ashy baboon's ... compared to the NicQuid "Daybreak" I've been vaping. Not going back.

I won't BS you. It was Hard for me to completely Switch to e-Cigarettes when I did. I kept failing back. I finally moved to a High Nicotine e-Liquid. That Helped.

The 1st Week can be Rough. But if you can just get Past that, it gets So Much Easier.

You can Make it! Just keep telling yourself... "Not Today. Not going to Smoke Today. Maybe Tomorrow? Maybe Next Week? But NOT Today."

I'm using a 24mg right now and it seems to work well.

The article concerned me because I walk past a high school on my way to work and I vape while walking. Last thing I need is to be put on the spot by an overly zealous school administrator or concerned part thinking I'm trying to corrupt the kids.

It's just an Unfortunate thing All the Way Around. Because let's be Adults, some teens are going to Do things like this. No Real way to Prevent it. Not condoning anything. Just saying It is what it Is.

But what it does do is Detract from what is Really Going on. And that is the Overwhelming Majority of Vaper's are People who are using them to Quit Smoking.

10,000 People in your town can Quit Smoking using e-Cigarettes. And that Doesn't make the News. But a Couple of Teens use an e-Cigarette for Something else, and that is Headline News.

that association is inevitable, was made a long time ago, and is mostly irrelevant.

ETA: Some people will make a big deal about it, and I'm sure it will be mentioned in committee hearings, but it's akin to blaming red plastic cups for teen drinking.

KY is traditionally a tobacco producing state and we have an extremely high smoking rate. That being put aside there is a strong vape culture building in the city of Louisville at least. Anything that can help get people off the cancer sticks, myself included, is a good thing in my book.

I think where people see the Greatest Damage with Events like this are on the Local Level.

Sure, things like this get Re-Told Again and Again on the State Level. And even on the Federal Level. But it is Usually Local Policies that are Influenced the Most.

Keep in mind that vaping was an activity that was associated with "other stuff" way before eCigs were ever put into mass circulation. Now eCigs have just made it so the paraphernalia is way more popular / wide spread, but easily serves another far more accessible purpose. Well, at least until the FDA chimed in.

That is true, but the people who are likely to make a big deal about something like this, don't really need more excuses. They have the good old standbys of flavors attract kids, new batch of nicotine addicts, gateway to smoking.

The focus of an event like this should be a business selling illegal products, not how those products would be ingested.

I've have found that the People who make a Big Deal about things like this are not the Ones to Worry about. They will always find something to get Up in Arms about. It's kinda what they Are/Do.

It's the people who are "On the Fence" about something like e-Cigarettes that many times get Swayed. And Swayed in a Bad Way.
